What I LOVE about the editing is you actually showing us what the instruments/notes/beats look and sound like in addition to the terminology. As someone who has ZERO knowledge of music theory it’s so helpful to understanding what they’re talking about and when I listen to the song again I can pick out what was discussed. Oh! I didn't know about BE meaning sad/sadness in chinese. Initially I thought it was cool that BE was capitalized AND more pronunciated while sung cuz I saw it as being read/understood 2 different ways? "Because I like you" "Be, 'cause I like you" That's what I thought when I first heard it and it's still in my head. I thought it was the most cleverest thing 😂

Yup, in Korean the Hanja word 悲 is pronounced as “bee” and written in Hangul as 비 😊 There’s an estimate that 40%-50% of Korean words are based on the Chinese language. (I think there are similar stats for Japanese too)

​@@jamescurfman3284 Rock music just isn't popular in Korea, not because they're "close-minded idiots" but because it's not part of their collective consciousness. They missed out on a huge part of rock history, because the country wasn't subjected to Western music trends before the 90s (it was a rather oppressive dictatorship during the 60s-80s which were the ones that saw the dominance of rock in the West). The rock sound of the 90s was a lot harder to digest for ears that weren't already used to general rock tropes, so rock never became mainstream in Korea like it was in the West or Japan.

@@ashurasama So instead they all get stuck with Pop music, from where and when? I heard that DC have LOADS of younger fans who love and adore them and their Rock sound, but younger people don't generally have money to do anything about it like the older generations have money. So of course the system is rigged in favor of what the old fuddy-duddies want instead of what is actually trendy. THIS is why DC has not won big at the shows. If the old farts would stay out of it or keep their fingers out of everybody else's pie, or if the younger crowd actually had real money, then DC would have a real chance. Instead they had to wait for far too long and go International in order to actually be recognized for their talent, skill and art.

It only shows that their music evolves throughout the years. Like there are parts and/or songs that are still different from the rest. Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

Dreamcatcher is my favorite group, so this was cool to see. Also, from what I've heard, the tritone=devil thing is a myth that many music channels/teachers continue to spread. The only reference of the devil with the tritone was someone saying that trying to sing them in tune was the devil. I don't remember the details, but check out Adam Neely's video(s) on it.
