This song is basically about a love that turns possessive, like the lines "forever mine", the lover seems to try and break it off but the girls don't want to. And as someone else noted it takes up themes of Yandere, and in my opinion the thought "if I can't have you then no one can"

I agree, but it could also be about a person so possessive of someone's beauty, they kidnap them and turn them into a doll to stay forever beautiful. The "stay in the same state" part and "take out all red paint" can be seen as blood maybe when they take out all of their guts. Reminds me of a game called Mad Father. Especially the Handong and Dami part where Handong is a doll maybe in that bed scene. Idk. The one you said and I've also theorized about sounds like jiU and Gahyeon's story. Siyeon is definitely JiU's ex and got replaced by Gahyeon. I think Yoohyeon tried to save Handong and Gahyeon, but she ran out of time. SuA idk wut connection she has.

Wow I always have high expectations for Dreamcatcher but this song really blew me away. I think you're right about them combining elements from other songs, both musically and visually. They used so many things from other videos. I'm sure I missed a lot but the ones I noticed.. The hotel - Chase me The house JiU runs through - You & I, Fly High Mirrors - Goodnight, Ypu & I, Piri, Endless night, Fly high, Deja vu, Odd eye Birdcage - Fly High, Endless Night (and the glass cage in You & I) Masks - Boca, Odd Eye, Scream Chandelier - Chase Me, Endless Night, Rose blue Hourglass - You & I The inverted world - Piri Chains - Boca, Rose blue (also around the Book of nightmares in Good Night, What) Handong surrounded by eyes - Welcome to the dream world vcr Dolls - Goodnight, Piri, Chase Me The bear with the stuffing pulled out - Chase Me And the music box at the end reminds me of the one in Chase Me/Good Night. The red apple is referred to in the lyrics of Chase me but i can't remember if it shows up anywhere else. Anyway this video definitely seems like a culmination of the whole story so far. I love elaborate storyline concepts and Dreamcatcher definitely has one of the best.

Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a Korean written character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that. The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "You turn blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. If you want to find a connection to the Dystopia trilogy, you could say that this might be a criticism of overly obsessive fans, who turn to malicious comments and other bad things, but I am not sure about that. In any case, Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

yes, same thought. it's like their past projects, even the MV, we got Chase Me, You and I, Scream, and Deja Vu in the visuals. my theory is since it's like they have their doppelgangers, it's the alternative world of the past dreamcatcher. just like how Jiu willingly gave her thrown to Gahyeon. whereas in Deja Vu, Yoohyeon killed Jiu to get it.

The whole song and MV just screams creepiness and ngl, when I watched it for the first time I had goosebumps all over but yet I can't take my eyes off them. Kinda like that sleep paralysis feeling? All these creepy things happening around you, being chased, but you can't run away. Love it. Would definitely love to see you do a reaction to the rest of the songs on the album. well dreamcatcher often uses recurring themes and images throughout all their mvs. mirrors in one form or another are pretty much in most of their mvs. but yeah, this is by far more interesting musically than boca/odd eye, imo.

All Hotel lobby scene felt like Hotek De Luna 😂 All the scene starting with a chair became Deja Vu 😂 All the running clips felt like Good Night, Chase Me 😂 All the Mirror cuts felt like You & I, Fly High..😂 All the music box vibe like Good Night 😂 All the apple appearence is Alice in the wonderland, Snow White fairy tales vibe.😂 All the tree show up it brings back to Dystopia trilogy 😂 BUT everyone forgotten this is a special mini album and it was inspired by the america horror film in 2019 "US" .. After much thought and watching the music video dozens of times, these are my theories and ideas for what I suspect is the story with this comeback: Jiu runs a carnival and circus resort hotel. She is a mystical puppeteer and controls a group of five dolls to do her bidding around the resort. My guess is that she is after Gahyeon who is still human and not a doll yet. Then at the end, Jiu captures her and makes her a doll like the others. It's important to note that Gahyeon is very front and center in this video and the main character of the story, followed by Jiu. Gahyeon is also the only one to really make distinct facial expression changes, perhaps signifying her awareness to the audience or representing that she's the only one still human amongst the dolls. It has been said that the theme and story is heavily inspired by Jordan Peele's "Us" so perhaps the theme of doppelgangers has something to do with it too. I have actually seen the film "Us" and I can see many references to it in the video, even in the choreography. I think the scene where Handong is standing alone with a pink skirt and literally sees her own feet being pulled away under a curtain could be representative of her being replaced by a doll or doppelganger and that's who is really standing there and not the real Handong. If you pay attention, you'll see that the girls at the beginning of the video all have different outfits than those at the end of the video. This could imply that they have been replaced by their doppelgangers or vice versa. It's hard to say which version of the girls are the real ones versus their doppelgangers, though it's quite often showcased how there are two of each of them in multiple scenes. Jiu also has a large hourglass that she flips at the start of the song. At the end of the song, the hourglass sand stops and so do the dolls. She gives us a smirk, and then we hear a laugh. I think that's how she controls them. When it's flipped and the sand is moving, the dolls can be active. Power over time and the ability to puppet people seems to be Jiu's powers or capabilities to some degree or she has relics that help her, like the hourglass. It's possible that Jiu needs to capture humans and then do something to make them into dolls - like feeding them a cursed apple? - or she creates dolls that she can control in their likeness by killing their normal form and then putting their soul into the doll, thus making a fake version or doppelganger of them that she can use for her bidding. So Jiu lures in unsuspecting guests to her carnival and circus resort hotel and then snatches them away for herself. One of the final scenes where Gahyeon is on the throne and Jiu caresses her face is important. Gahyeon's line during this moment is "Because I love you". As she says that line, her facial expression changes from happy to more trance-like, which indicates that she may have fallen under Jiu's power and has become her doll. There's a double-meaning here too because of Gahyeon's line. She loves Jiu, but that love may be forced or coerced by Jiu herself because of her power to turn people into dolls and have them do her bidding. Gahyeon has no choice but to love Jiu because Jiu is forcing her to do so as her new doll that has been added to the collection. This all ties back into the song's theme of having a very obsessive and dangerous love for someone else to the point of stalking and controlling them. What's even more interesting is that love, by definition, must be freely given. You cannot force love otherwise it's not love at all. Thus, Jiu seems to be seeking for love, but can't find it, so she becomes evil and obsessive over creating a fake collection of friends that will always "love" her. I also recently came to the understanding that "Special Albums", at least, in Dreamcatcher's case, are one-offs and stand-alone stories that are not connected to another nor will they be continued. So, think of this like their song "Deja Vu", which only had one video and a concise story all within the video itself and not continued or expanded upon in any other videos or songs. It's a shame if that is truly the case with this song and video, since this concept and theme are so strong and incredibly interesting. Either way, Dreamcatcher killed it. Lastly, the capital "BE" in "BEcause" supposedly represents a Chinese character that sounds like "bei' which means "sadness" or "negative love".

Of _course_ you should react to the whole album! This one actually feels possibly even _more_ experimental than previous albums. It kinda maintains that summer connection all the way through, but each song does it in a completely different way. 1:50 Siyeon. 😉 Siyeon does the "Forever love" in both choruses, and the "Forever mine" is Dongie in the first and SuA in the second. 3:00 Dami loved that face decoration; it reminded her of half a butterfly (see the behind-the-scenes Note that came out yesterday), which she has a particular fondness for... 🙂
