Dreamcatcher(드림캐쳐) 'Scream' MV - REACTION

Dreamcatcher are 7 members Jiu, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyun. Scream came out during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Member Handong was in China on a Music (Girl Group) Survival show called Youth with You at the time and was unable to return to So. Korea for an entire year. One of their Choreographers/Dancers stood in for Handong as the masked dancer in Scream. Handong was able to return in time for the Third song of the Dystopia Trilogy called: Odd Eye. The Trilogy is about Bullying, Cyber Bullying and Hate Comments, with the Over Arching Theme of Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil and See No Evil. At the Beginning of Scream you'll notice it says on the screen: "One Day Suddenly the light did not come. People forgot how to say good things."

Yes, this trilogy is about bullying and hate comments. In the trilogy, you'll see recurring elements like: - the Tree of Language, which degrades more and more. - masks, because online hate comments are anonymous, like hiding behind a mask. In my opinion, there's also a passage of time in the trilogy: - Scream = past - Boca = present - Odd Eye = future Have fun exploring the wonders of the Dreamworld!

welcome to the cult! the 2nd part of the trilogy you just started is Boca and the third part is Odd Eye. With Odd Eye being the only song in this trilogy where Handong their chinese member could finally return from China after being stuck there during covid.

Dreamcatcher has 7 members, but during their releases of Scream and Boca 1 of them was stuck in China (during covid times) so she couldn't join them during that time. That's why there is a dancer with a mask taking her place, wich also goes along with the concept of the "masks" the bullies hide behind to hurt others. Anyways, I hope you guys keep enjoying Dreamcatcher, they debuted in 2017 but had a hard time growing in Korea because it's not the typical sound you'd expect from a girl group (including rock as their main sound) And fun fact: They share producers with ATEEZ

One of my favorites from Dreamcatcher. They are who I goto for rock in kpop after band maid in japan, who are more hard rock. All of their songs are well done, like this one and their B sides are really good. The other kpop group to look at is mamamoo if you want to hear the best live vocal group who do every other genre. Dreamcatcher does more than rock also but they really do this genre well, which is why I like them so much.

Fun REaction!! Australian's Insomnia (fandom name) have been waiting years for Dreamcatcher to tour down there and on March14 and 16th will rock Melbourne and Sydney with their exuberant lively performances. Tickets went on sale yesterday and the VIP sections are sold out. At least you know of this if you two may be drawn into DC's rabbit hole (like so many of us and loving it) And continue with the Dystopia Trilogy with Boca (spanish for mouth) and finally Odd Eye. @@WhatsThisSis You should try to move whatever is in the way. They don't make it to Australia that often and I can assure you the concert will be great. I've already seen them twice this year (February during their European tour + KCON Germany 2,5 month ago...only got tickets because of them). In total I've seen them 4 times since 2022. Once you've also watched some of the background/behind the scenes stuff it's over...you've been warned. 😉 It's also quite funny to run into the same people all time time (at DC concerts plus a few other groups like Rolling Quartz (50%+ also Dreamcatcher fans I would say), Everglow, Billlie as well as Kard last month). 😂

They have strong message within storyline. So far you've checked Scream (here) and Boca (another video) as parts of Dystopia trilogy involving hate, (cyber)bullying things. They also have another trilogy called Apocalypse, with Maison (home in French language), Vision, Bonvoyage. And they made the strong message in part 1 almost fully in English within the chorus, arguably intentional for rising awareness about the topic world wide, so people will get the message even without caption/subtitle

@WhatsThisSis sometimes they do a bit tricky. If we watch Bonvoyage alone, it seems like a standard love song. But with MV concept within Apocalypse storyline, it actually a love letter to mother earth. In OOTD it can be seen as narcissistic and flexing, but it actually a bit sarcastic towards entertainment world Even within Nightmare storyline, it can be seen as ghost story, but it also can be a lyric of new story of 5 members redebuted as Dreamcatcher (they were MINX before)

If you didn't notice, this MV takes the concept of a witch hunt. This creative approach took a parallel of cyber-bullying that judges people (throws stones) without any logical reason. The 2nd and 3rd parts took a different POV, so you'll not see any witch hunt reference on the next MV.

When he felt like he was falling into a downturn, he actually received insults of pain from the people around him, and he couldn't escape reality.

Fly High (The girls get cursed into Nightmares by the Spider Queen due to Yoohyeon's actions) Chase Me (The girls mess with the Nightmare Hunter) Good Night (The Nightmare Hunter captures half of the girls, but the girls ultimately escape with the Nightmare book that caught them, but lose it after escaping the Hunter.) You and I (Yoohyeon's sins catch up with her and her soul is stolen by the Spider Queen, causing Jiu guilt.) 5. What (Jiu finds the Nightmare Book dropped by Yoohyeon in modern times, transforming the girls into Modern Nightmares. At the end, Yoohyeon makes her presence known which leads us into...) 6. Piri (Within the alternate dimension the Spider Queen cursed Yoohyeon in, she finds a Piri, which she uses to direct Jiu in What to use the book. The entire group goes into the alternate dimension and confront their fears. Jiu finds Yoohyeon, the girls reunite, but they are all trapped in the alternate dimension.) 7. Breaking Out (An alternate telling of Piri's story. The difference this time is the Red String of Fate binding the girls together and helping them find each other and ultimately break out of the Nightmare.)

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
