The song gets better and better with every listen. Just takes me back to previous eras with such a rock-infused melodic sound. Truly a great finale to an amazing trilogy. Thanks for the reaction and let's go Dreamcatcher!

Thank you for the comment! I agree, I have only been able to get about 4 or 5 listens in, but when I get some down down between reactions, I am going to check out all the behind the scenes content and get a better sense of the song.

"Bon Voyage" is the 3rd and final part of the Apocalypse trilogy. The members have mentioned that it is about giving nature a break. Any encounter between human beings always has separation attached to it as well, just as death is a part of life. SuA also said that the fluffy floating thing that Dami summons from her painting is a cell. It has been named "Celly" and is adorable! My dark mind believes that they are saying "Have a good trip" to humanity, since we are well on our way of wiping ourselves out. It's like a breakup between humanity and the earth. Once humanity is gone, nature gets the break it needs and the circle will begin again. For me, the key to understanding the lyrics is that they are singing as human beings, not as a single person. And they are singing to nature, confessing their love and the realization that we are not good for nature and that it probably resents us. It could also be the other way round (them singing as mother nature to humanity). There are still many things I don't know. For example, why are all three titles in French. 😉 (And why are there 3 Damis with 7 shadows...) The story of the MV seems to be that the rest of humanity has sheltered away under force fields after the apocalypse. This gives nature time to heal. Musically I can already say this is one of their best songs for me. The chorus slaps hard, and the variations between heavy and slow are just beautiful. It has emotion and impact at the same time. Putting JiU's sweet voice together with an acoustic guitar is simply genius. We lost Leez as a producer, but the team around Ollounder did a fantastic job! And as a bass player, I can say the slap bass is crazy! I probably won't have to tell anyone that the visuals here are out of this world. I'm going to say it anyways: The members have never looked more beautiful, and the whole team all deserve a raise!

Thank you for the comment and info. I haven't had the time I had when I first found DC to really analyze this video. There is just so much going on, which I love. I totally missed fit changes and what that usually means for a DC MV, so I will have to go back and relook at that, too. I did notice it with Siyeon, and thinking about it now that is probably her symbolizing humanity because she was in a hoodie and jeans and surrounded by other really nondescript people. I missed the 9 shadows, though, for sure. And yes, all French titles has to mean something, but with Greek architecture, possibly eluding to Elysium or some variation of it. It dawned on me about Leez signing the High Hat contract after I was done watching the vid and finally looked at the credit spoilers and saw Ollounder and the team he had for this project. I really enjoyed it, and I am excited to see where they take this sound. It really did feel very expiremental. That slap bass tone and utilization I couldn't get over. I mentioned in another comment that it felt like a mix of Fly High meets R.o.S.E Blue, just with the addition of the acoustic guitar.

dreamcatcher \:D/ there's so many ways to go about interpreting the lyrics and video. usually I try to separate the two but in this case I think both can go together. my view is generally how you interpreted the song being hopeful despite past problems. in the context of the trilogy, I view the two sides as being between earth/mother nature and humanity. the first obviously imagery is that of destruction, but we also get glimpses of life albeit confined within a structure. instead of greenery and animals out in the open nature, we see it inside a building with everything outside devoid of color and life. from this you can interpret them as protecting nature from a decaying world. the shield that went up in vision also gives us a sense of protection but of the entire planet. sua chasing(to protect) what possibly is a dove also has obvious symbolism. the second imagery I noticed is recurring - the butterfly. in past mvs, it's been used to symbolize rebirth. for example I equate the butterfly in fly high as the start, the rebirth of dreamcatcher. it's also a symbol of sacrifice in order for life to proceed. that's how I view that flying furball lol, as a metaphorical seed for which the world can be regrown. you get a glimpse of a flowing blooming near the end. so getting back to the title bon voyage, it's usually referred to as a good journey so the overall theme imo should be positive. the fireworks at the end also should convey an uplifting mood. so my overall take is there's still hope that things can change and they wouldn't be needed to protect us anymore. I view the last scene as them turning off the force field and potentially leaving in that shard spaceship? so if this is the came, they are other worldly beings that came to earth to save it. well I haven't thought it out that much but that's my general take.

That is a pretty good breakdown. I also agree with the butterfly symbolism, and that has definitely been a reoccurring theme in multiple videos. I have only been able to re-watch it about 4 or 5 times to try to get a deeper dive into everything thing. I have really been trying to figure out what the little cloud/fireball thing is because I am actually puzzled on what it is/represents.

Thanks for the very well-constructed reaction and review! If it helps, JiU, Siyeon, and Dami talked a bit about what the song means in their opinion during the press conference. JiU said it was inspired by the rest-year concept, where parks will have entry denied so that the ecosystem can thrive, regrow, or heal in the absence of people. It's saying that we're still hurting Earth and we need time apart to let it heal. Dami felt it's about nature taking a break, that you have to leave something *because* you love it. Siyeon expressed that just how we, as humans, experience joy we will fall in love and say farewell. It's about just saying goodbye to nature, temporarily. I feel like some parts of the song such as Yoo/SuA's "Maybe you don't, but I love you" or JiU expressing how they're always with us, and the "I know you" really feeds into the idea that just because you need to spend some time apart from something or someone doens't mean you still don't have that love and they expressed it in a way that on the surface feels like it applies to a romantic relationship or friendship or even fandom but also really suits the tone of the trilogy. It's bittersweet to me, doesn't so much feel like they won but feels like "We lost but it'll be okay in time."

I didn't realise this was your first comeback with dreamcatcher! Its mine too and its always so fun to experience a new comeback from a favourite group. It was such a beautiful music video and the amount of times I got chills whilst watching was unreal. I cant remember if youve ever said, but how did you discover dreamcatcher? Hope your able to catch some of the stages theyve been doing, I am always blown away by their talent but when I see them perform on a stage they seem to somehow become even more incredible like I dont know how they do it!

Yeah, I found Dreamcatcher in January. I was so excited for this comeback my hands were shaking. I found them while going through one of my favorite reactor's (OG Kpop Stan) catalogue looking for XG dance practice reactions and saw she had a reaction to DC's 'Scream' Dance Practice. I had a feeling from the thumbnail and her taste in groups that dance really well, I wanted to check them out myself first, so I googled their debut and watched 'Chase Me' and I was hooked after their first video. After I get ahead on my reactions, I am going to take a day and watch all the extra content for this comeback. I enjoy their comeback stages and the behind the scenes stuff.

I love Bon Voyage, it sounds very different but distinctively Dreamcatcher. To me it sounds like a blend of Fly High and Deja Vu. The girls really brought their A game to the vocals

@tarop2004 Yes, Sua really stood out this track, too. I really feel like Sua has evolved this whole era. She has really expanded her range. I don't want to say that she has increased her confidence because she has always had it, but she is really showcasing her vocal talent lately.
