Mamam-uesday! | Moonbyul 6equence 3rd Mini Album Review

This album in general is a beauty and is very well thought out and accomplished, plus Byul wrote all the songs except Lunatic. We were all very surprised not only when she added a pronoun to specify that it was about wlw, since the songs that are written by Byul usually don't have specific pronouns as she said she prefers not to use them so that everyone can relate to the songs and not a specific genre, so when she put it on she made her intention quite clear. All Mamamoo supports the LGBTIQ+ community but Byul has had beautiful gestures like writing beautiful letters of support on pride day saying things like that we are all the same since we are all human beings therefore we are capable of loving each other regardless of gender . It is for things like this that the people in the community love her, especially those in Korea since they are much more repressive there.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah I know Korea is still more conservative, but from what I have seen and read, that is slowly changing. I know things like this take time but I am glad there is starting to be more of a voice there and hopefully matters of this nature are just things spoken about in history books and people can love and be in consenting relationships without fear of harm or discrimination.

Synopsis is good, it’s short becuase it’s the intro. If you watch the official clip for Synopsis with subs, it tells about the whole 6equence album. Another good intro is Satellite from her Moon : Repackage album.

I think most people just call it 'sequence', it's a story from the start to the end of a relationship and there are 6 songs so I think the 6 was just a stylistic choice!! I love this album so much and the fact that she used "she said" in shutdown, when in the past she said she doesn't like using pronouns in her lyrics, which means the whole album is about a wlw relationship is just ❤ its a brilliant album and it's a shame she doesn't get more appreciation for it really, she's still the only member of mamamoo without a solo win (which of course they aren't the only proof of a good artist, but she had said in the past she would love to achieve a win on her own). Also yes, synopsis is just too short 😔

Thank you for the info. I definitely saw the stages. the lyrics in Lunatic vs the visuals had me questioning the stage of the relationship but I think I kinda got it right that it was the transitioning phase of going from the good to recognizing that it may not be so good after all. The whole album was definitely amazing and I was not aware that Moonbyul didn't have a solo win. This is the aspect of K-pop that I am not a fan of is the competition aspect but I would whole-heartedly get on the sites and vote and repeatedly watch her new song to help her get a win. I still think Moonbyul is my favorite rapper, she is super versatile in her cadence and flows and I love her tone.

@seattleinsomnia oh definitely, plus music is open to interpretation so you can never be wrong with what they mean to you anyway! Yeah, completely agree, I dont really like the music show wins and stuff either it kind of encourages the "I can only be a fan of 1 group and I have to stream and vote religiously for them every single time" mindset instead of just enjoying all types of music and artists. But there is a vid somewhere of her not winning and she is genuinely disappointed and its pretty sad to watch really 😕

Answering the last section of your questions. :) 1) The pronounciation of 6equence is sequence, and the track list was supposed to depict the story of a love relationship, starting from G999 (love at first sight, falling in love), Shutdown (passion state), Lunatic (peak, driving each other crazy, person loving one more than the other), For Me (breakup/ lost love), and finally Ddu Ddu Ddu (at peace/ nostalgia state). 2) Moonbyul prefers to be called she as she is a woman (dislikes people calling her a boyfriend, and said, "but I'm a girl though", even though she likes to be called handsome) :)

I definitely saw the stages being throughout the album which is a really clever idea. That is good to know for her pronouns, I did know she liked to be called handsome, because it is unique and she wants to break gender stereotypes in music, she prefers the more masculine dance routines and hates hip moves in dance routines lol.

also to add, the Moonbyul makes it a point to invite people to feature in her songs that are new and upcoming talents, such as Mirani and Seori, and also her little brothers and sisters from MMM company, such as Kanghyun from Onewe in For Me, and Oneus and Purple Kiss as the back singers/choir in her cover Congratulations (original song by Day6) in Round 1 of her singing competition Second World.

Yeah I have seen her sort of mentoring in small clips of her with Purple Kiss, giving advice and being a cheerleader for them. I have only seen one Onewe song so I didn't realize that the guitarist was a member, I should have guessed though. Congratulations is on my list of songs to react to in a More Mamamoo-nday so I will pay attention for that.

Another reason I would add is because when mamamoo first started they have no one relied to help promote them since they were from a small company. Moonbyul knows how hard it is for groups that are not from big 3 to get recognized, so Moonbyul always invites group from small company to promote them on her show

Thank you for sharing your story. I guess that's why Moonbyul means so much to so many people, because she wrote most of her lyrics, and she made it a point to use genderless lyrics, e.g. bad X (ex), so that it would be relatable to most people, be it that they have a girlfriend, boyfriend, or significant others. The only lyrics that she specifically mentioned she used gender was for Shutdown, when she used SHE SAID to make it obvious it was written for a girl, while being sung by girls. ❤❤‍🩹

Thanks for reacting to 6equence, there is several behind the scene like comeback week behind, Lunatic mv behind (no eng sub even after 1 year, fact, that's why there is a group of volunteer moomoo translator out there) but not for "ddu ddu ddu", I remember i saw several interview with featuring artists and behind the scene in the spreed sheet but unavailable now as it is in vlive. If you watch a bit closer to the words painted on the wall and her outfit in one of the scene, you would notice a whole new meaning of Lunatic. Again, Mamamoo is unique as all members dare to do what they believe and stand firm just like byul making a song "shut down" (confirmed by herself it's a song refer to wlw) in a conservative country. enjoy

All mamamoo is swag and slay, you haven’t watched wheein dance, wheein also very good in locking dance, plus her dance is also versatile, the both are good in dancing, actually all members is good at dancing and singing, they are performers after all. It’s sad that wheein is less being seen by others, as others members stand out more, but once you watch more, you will fall for her, there is a saying once you whee in you can’t whee out. It is hard to chose a bias in this group. I will be waiting for your reaction to solar and wheein solo album. You should check out seori song too, she have a unique tone as well. I personally like dududu song, just like the vibe. There is no behind scene and don’t think dududu is film in USA. RBW no budget. The only MV they film overseas is starry night and star wind flower & sun (New Zealand , wind flower (HK).

You're the best (Bangkok) plus one of Solar Emotion MV is in New Zealand. Oneus A Song Written Easily is also in New Zealand. I guess Purple Kiss self made video in Japan doesn't really count.

That means someone in the production team is from Washington then. I have seen some of Wheein's dancing and I know she is a great dancer too.

@@seattleinsomnia I think the prop houses in Korea have a ton of US stuff to rent. I have seen a Purple Kiss cover song where the singer sits in front of a wall of US license plates. At least one of them is a Washington plate. The street where they shot was closed for the filming and I'm sure the plate was added on set. I don't know why they picked Washington but maybe because it lit up well on the dark set. There is a video of Hwasa and Psy singing and dancing in two side by side phone booths like the one here

@moo5289 I just did a reaction to XG, and they also had a Washington license plate and a Montana Highway road sign. I am curious where they buy these props because there are a couple of street and Highway road signs I have been wanting since I was a kid.
