DREAMCATCHER - ODD EYE | SYMPHONIC ROCK VERSION

📖 "Dreamcatcher live with orchestra". This idea was stuck in the back of head for a while. I always thought it would be amazing if Dreamcatcher were to perform with a live orchestra and a full backing band because a lot of their songs gives off that grand epic atmosphere.

I have seen a lot of Dreamcatcher orchestral covers, but so far I haven't seen a Symphonic Rock cover (that I know of). Symphonic rock is the orchestra and rock band ensemble. The best example would be "Metallica's S&M" album, where they performed their songs live with the San Francisco Symphony. So this is my attempt at creating that.

To be honest, I don't have any experience composing an orchestra. But I listened to a lot of classical music and movie soundtracks, and I have some knowledge of music theory. But I wanted to do this cover justice. And after many hours of research and tutorials, this is the result. I have a new profound respect for music composers now. Their ability and patience to compose for a whole orchestra is beyond amazing.

One of the most challenging mixes I have done so far, with 38 tracks for 20+ instruments.
For the video I just cut up the dance performance and the music video to fit the music.
Also yes, this is a drastic change from guitar covers. There's barely guitars on this track! But I think it suits the song well. There are already many instruments that are providing the melody, so argubly they do it well more than the guitar.

I know that for a lot of InSomnias, this song is their favourite, so I hope this I did this song justice.
