"Start Over" is the OST of JTBC's drama "Itaewon Class," which aired in 2020. Originally released by Gaho, the OST was also an overwhelming hit along with the drama, and its official music video also became a megahit with over 100 million views.group Dreamcatcher's Siyeon will drop a remake single "Start Over" on Sunday, her agency Dreamcatcher Company said Tuesday. Singer Gaho's "Start Over" was part of the original soundtrack for the JTBC series "Itaewon Class" (2020). The song was a hit along with the series, with its music video gaining more than a hundred million views on KZbin. The song's lyricist, Seo Dong-sung, recommended that Siyeon sing the remake version after seeing her cover of Japanese singer Yuuri's "Betelgeuse" (2022), according to her agency.

It's an official remake (Quarter Music) of the OST from Itaewon Class. It's the lyricist of the original that wanted Siyeon for the remake after he saw her cover of Yuuri’s Betelgeuse.

or more context, "Start Over" was sang by Kpop artist Gaho and was part of the OST for a K-drama "Itaewon Class," which aired in 2020. The song's lyricist, Seo Dong-sung, saw (more of heard) Siyeon's cover of Japanese singer Yuuri's "Betelgeuse" (2022) and recommended that she sing the remake version. Given that it is an official release and remake, hence the higher quality MV and that we got the full version (if you notice, typical covers are usually shorten versions cause the artists that covering the songs usually don't own the rights for it, hence there would be legal copyright issues if they cover the full song and release it without paying some sort of fee - which would not be cheap). This highlight how important the role agency plays in promoting their artist. In addition to providing comebacks, doing covers and actively being on social media can help promote artists, especially for smaller agencies such as Happyface/Dreamcatcher company with limited reach and unable to open as many doors conventionally. Hopefully, this open more doors for Siyeon for other solo projects as while as allow her other Dreamcatcher members to also catch the attention of other suitable industry players to work more with them. On a separate note, if you view (or more accurately listen) the song from the context of Minx, Siyeon will probably be able to relate to the song and pour her emotion into it.

the actor is nam dareum, he's one of my favs, this is his first project back after discharge from the military so crazy crossover for me lol

You know, I previously mentioned how Siyeon's voice is perfect for OSTs with powerful belting or higher moments, while Handong would excel in more nostalgic songs or those with a moodier tone (like her cover of a Taeyeon OST). And with this OST, Siyeon more than delivered. This remake really felt like it was tailor-made for Siyeon, which, albeit, it was. It's still great that it delivers on that front and hopefully will bring fans of Itaewon Class and OST listeners to take a deeper dive into Dreamcatcher. Though I really appreciate you addressing the challenges that come with pursuing higher education. Whether it's juggling other hobbies, working a job alongside studying, or simply the effort required for projects and papers, it can be tough. This discussion made the message of this song, about working hard and pursuing goals and dreams, feel very personal to me. The last semester of 2023 was incredibly stressful for me, to the point where I briefly considered pausing or even quitting my master’s… However I persisted, and thankfully, I managed to get through it with an A, but I digress. To all those out there who are stressed from your daily lives and reading this, the grind is hard but hope you all find a way to de-stress as self-care is equally important as a hard-working “grind” mental. So don’t be afraid to confide in others, as sometimes talking it out and de-stressing can do wonders. I know that got a bit real, but what can I say… Dreamcatcher makes me emotional. 😂
