Ever since I started learning korean, I've always been interested in satoori (dialects) and have wanted to make a compilation of dreamcatcher talking in satoori for quite some time. Well, it took awhile to get everything but the video is finally here~ Enjoy 😎 한국어 배우면서 사투리를 많이 관심있었서 오래동안 드림캐쳐 사투리 모음집 편집하고싶어요. 드디어 이 영상 완성했다~ ✌ if you enjoyed this video and would like to support the channel, you may consider buying me a coffee! 🥰☕️ ko-fi.com/insomnicsy twitter: @insomnicsy

You got to the point. At some of the scenes, Jiu was trying to mimick male accent of Busan satoori. Not exactly the same, actually it's different but you just can imagine 강호동 of 아는형님.

Handong speaking dialects is so weird and cute at the same time to me(Korean). She definitely learned it from members(maybe Siyeon, Sua, Jiu) and it seems she become more and more native :)

No pressure. What's satoori? And what's speaking in dialects really mean? Is it just a regional form of pronunciation? That's what I think it is but I'm an American with no idea XD

Daejeon satoori for me seems to sound softer than Daegu and Masan's hence Minji sounds more adorable when she's speaking satoori 🥺
@mariusno_chaser8082 жыл бұрын
Not Daejon but Busan (the birthplace of Jiu) as I explained in the other comment :) Adorable because Busan dialect sounds very cute only in case female speak in. Male version is tough and harsh. Of course not all the time. :)

@@mariusno_chaser808 Oh right! I was trying to remember this info about Jiu yesterday, thank u for this! 👍
@jojongsajudywoody2 жыл бұрын
Daejeon usually has its own dialect. And Minji was born in Busan where is very closed to Masan (only about two hours for driving)(-Sua's birthplace). The reason why Jiu has softer satoori than Sua's or Siyeon' it's just because of her nature personality. And there is slightly difference of satoori between Siyeon and Sua. But most non-satoori speakers and those who live in different province (not Gyeonsang-Do) cannot tell the difference. FYI, I was born in Masan and have lived in Busan for 20 yrs by the way lol
@convergency10682 жыл бұрын
@@jojongsajudywoody Can you tell me does Jiu have Busan accent or Daejeon accent? Thanks!
@jojongsajudywoody2 жыл бұрын
@@convergency1068 So basically, Daegeon has its own accent but she is not using it. She just uses Seoul accent which is standard/formal one. But, her parents are from Geyongsang-do(I guess Geyongsang nam-do:province). So if she wants to speak using Busan accent. She can do it fluently like Sua. FYI, Siyeon is from Daegu which is part of Geyongsang buk-do. Thus, it's slightly different from Sua or Jiu!! :-)

Jiu's intonation is far from Daejeon's satoori, it seems like Busan - her birthplace, very close to SuA's satoori. In this clip, SuA tried to impersonate Daejeon's intonation once for fun.

I love Siyeon’s Satoori. One of my favorite chips of it was from tour that has Siyeon, Yoohyeon and Handong. JiU’s satoori is adorable. Handong speaking is amusing, it also reminds me of the series they use to do with the members speaking in Chinese and in one episode they.. Handong had to guess the Chinese dialect.
@darkkjw Жыл бұрын
The Gyeongsangdo dialect used by Sua and Siyeon has a unique accent, a trace of ancient Korean. Jiu is not from Gyeongsang-do either, but her parents are from Gyeongsang-do, so Jiyu also speaks Gyeongsang-do dialect. Gahyeon and Handong always imitate Gyeongsang-do dialect. Dami and Yoohyeon's hometowns, Seoul and Incheon, do not use dialects. The dialects with the most traces of ancient Korean are the Gyeongsang-do dialect of South Korea and the Yukjin dialect of North Korea.

Unnie lines use them more + Gahyeon (since she's "unstable" as the unnies said on weeklyidol). Using it means you don't forget where do you come from & it's interesting for "outsiders". 😁 Jiu using 2 kind satoori with 2 different tone is so interesting, looks like she can joke around with those as well 🤡

Me, in my head while studying Korean: I'm gonna sound like a baby or a robot when I speak. 😂 It's interesting to hear the regional variations of a small country. I live in the US and the number of regional variations of just Standard American English is huge. It's normal to go to another city or state and have some communication issues because each area has it's own local influences. Like, I live near the US-Canada border so there's an overlap of word usage between here and Ontario. We also have a lot of Native American names for things and places. This is all before accounting for differences between dialects based on ethnic groups. 😵 It's interesting how different the Korean dialects sound despite the distance between places being so small and how people recognize more dialects. No one in the US would ever say "Oh you have a Great Lakes/Rust Belt dialect!!" to me.
@silverstreaked10722 жыл бұрын
That’s just the time difference I would guess. Those “very close” korean communities were likely mostly insular and had little contact with each other for a very long time resulting in the level of contrast we see in speech today.

Wow this is a really interesting video! It's funny that unnie line are the ones with satoori. I guess the closer you live to a city, the less accented dialect you have. I love how Jiu speaks it the most to the point of almost sounding like a mom haha. But the craziest thing to me is that I never realized how much Sua had an accent in her speech. I mean, I don't know any Korean, but I can still hear it when Jiu speaks with satoori sometimes. Like, I've seen the clips you have here with Sua and I never noticed it at all. I think it's because I always thought Sua just sounds hyper and energetic so even her speech is like that haha. I noticed you said you are self taught and it's really admirable that you are so fluent. You're amazing! Anyway, I love that you came up with this video! Keep up the great work! Thank you once again for your hard work and as usual, take care! :D
