I was born and brought up in Weston Point in the 70s. Runcorn Hill was a staple playing ground for me and my siblings, as was 'The Sheds' (the area 'this side' of Weston Road). We often wondered what the machine was in one of the sheds. It looked like some sort of generator, but we fantasised that it used to be a machine gun during the war. There was a small hole that we used to scramble in that led into the 'air raid shelter'. We would climb in and walk along the dark tunnel, petrified. At the end of the tunnel we came to a caved-in bit. This was where the shed in 'Happy Valley' stood. It's gone now. We played in 'The Hills', as we used to call it, countless times during our childhood. It was a fantastic, and dangerous, place to play. The Witches Cave, Frog's Gob, The Air-Raid Shelter.....loads of memories.

It was in the 70s. When I was introduced to Runcorn. A place with some very happy memories for me. I use to be a multi drop delivery driver. Delivering all over Runcorn before the changes. I remember the old town as it was. Had many a laugh with the traffic wardens. Me blocking the narrow streets off so I could deliver. Area's like halton.astmoor. castlefields. Who can forget the new shopping city. ICI Weston point.and both docks.runcorn and Weston point. that's where I met a Very dear lady friend. Who worked in the office's of British waterways. Mrs Val Jones. Even though we had separate lives. We stayed in touch. For over 40 plus years until her passing. Many happy memories of Runcorn. Oh to turn the clock back.!!!!.john banks.in lostock hall.

A super little film. Makes me want to visit. Although I have lived in Frodsham for many years I have never explored this area, with its rich historical legacy.
