MEGA ABBRUCH BAUSTELLE! Abriss der ehemaligen Oberpostdirektion in Hamburg. Das beeindruckende Gebäude mit 11 Etagen wird wegen seiner Architektur auch "Postpyramide" genannt. In den 70er Jahren in der City Nord erbaut, war es Arbeitsplatz für 1.400 Menschen. Im Jahr 2011 wurde das Gebäude wegen Baumängeln und Sicherheitsbedenken (Brandschutz) geräumt, im Jahr 2017 begann der Abriss. Die Arbeiten übernimmt die Firma Hagedorn. Ein Seilbagger mit Kugel beginnt am oberen Stockwerk, später kommt ein Longfront Bagger dazu...

Tearing down the former headquarter of the german postal service - "the pyramid". Built in the 70's the impressive 11 story building was closed in 2011 due to fire protection issues. A renovation would have been too expensive and the decision was made to replace the building with new residential houses. A giant crawler crane with wrecking ball starting at the top of the building, later a high reach demolition excavator will arrive for support...

What can't be seen in the quick demolition with explosives video's is the amount of work in prepping the building. First there is months of work removing all reusable materials from the in and exterior, then the strategic weakening of columns and walls. Then a couple of weeks drilling holes and placing explosives, and additional measures to protect the neighbourhood from flying debries and dust. Once the building is brought down there is more work to separate concrete, metals and other materials, like the insulation and rubber seals as can be seen in this video, does a contractor want to sell of materials for re-use, in the slow step by step demolition of this building materials are separated as they come off, it's also easier to remove an insulation panel from a complete slab than from rubble. In Europe re-use of materials is nowadays a legal requirement, preventing the whole landscape from becomming a giant landfill, and also putting less stress on natural resources. Having less trees than North America brick and concrete are traditionaly the prefered building materials in Europe, also for their longevity and fire safety, so they are more widely used than in North America and would need more not renewable natural resources and landfills if not recycled.

WTC7 was rigged and demolished same day with a team of possibly 30 people its just a bit wavering about with oxy acetylene torches and then you can sort the shit later on for reusable materials and of course setting it all up polish demolition team? surely 1 year for a major failure, but that wrecking ball driver either put on the wrong wrecking ball or had a bit to drink, i could do more damage with a rubber hammer and a pair of pliers than that little wrecking ball

They dont use wrecking ball much anymore, the majority probably got recycled. The thing now is these pincer machines that "eat" into concrete with a fire hose machine to keep dust down. Demolition is more contained and sophisticated than it used to be

It would be really interesting to have an insider's perspective on how an operation like this is planned and conducted. The exciting crash-bang bit must be just the tip of a huge iceberg. I'd be interested to see how the various recyclables, copper, etc, are removed and reused and even the logistics involved with the removal and disposal of these sort of quantities of concrete and steel waste. Presumably there are also hazardous elements, asbestos, lead, etc, that need careful disposal. The dust from a controlled explosion demolition must contain all manner of nasty stuff - silicates and who knows what - that must be a major problem. Doing the job with a wrecking ball like this must, I'm guessing, eliminate a lot of that? I love getting these fascinating glimpses into trades and skills.

if you undermine the foundations without clearing the top you end up working in a danger zone. Worst thing to happen would be they destroy the lower part and the top still stands. Even with dynamite they would blast and fracture the upper levels before blasting the base and main columns, even if it's by fractions of a second. Plus the weight of rubble on top helps bring down the rest.

That's not the way to bring a building down! You got to use TNT on the main support areas, blow it up, and watch it collapse and crumble to the ground. It's the faster, and proper way to get rid of them. And it's also fun to watch.

I belive running the objects in a machine to crush all items, then passing under a strong magnetic field to take out the metal, then into a bath to float the insulation then gringing everything down to 1/8" this could then be used at componets of concrete. A tiny bit of rubber and insulation isn't going to hurt, if its glass insulation its going to add strength to the concrete. There are far faster ways to do this with sustainable methods and some thought. By the way we recycle in the USA now. Its not all landfill. And your out of tress becuse your nations have been clear cutting and not planting the forest. We have forest man planted over 100 years ago we manage them.

Kleiner Tipp bei so 1 Abbruch mit Abrissbirne sollte man zuerst die Tragenn Pfeiler umhauen damit der Rest drum herum in sich zusammen sackt . So lässt sich 1 Abbruch am schnellsten erledigen
