This has all been tailored specifically for him. It's a no-lose situation for him. If he wins, him & LBJ go down in Lakers history. If he loses, well, nobody expects a no-experience rookie head coach to immediately dominate, so, they'll show much more patience with him, being that LeBron hand-picked him.

The Buss family is filthy rich. It's not for lack of money that this course was chosen. When they hire LeBron's choice to coach the team, they'll open up the purse-strings. Tyron Lue wasn't LeBron's personal choice, so, even though he was the best available candidate, the Lakers are no longer doing things in the best interest of the organization. They are totally in lust with LeBron, and, they're letting it cloud their judgement. What makes LeBron happy has become the de facto entire goal for the purple & gold, where, once upon a time, winning championships was. They are actually satisfied with sabotaging their chances at a title, if LeBron is happy, and, that's exactly what a decision to hire JJ Redick is admitting to, if they should go that route. Add to that, the notion that the Lakers are seriously considering WASTING a roster spot, by drafting a player that can't contribute now, and, most likely, is going to be a long-range PROJECT...just because he's LeBron's son. So, an unproven, zero experience choice for coach, to please LeBron James. And, waste a roster spot, PLUS, pay LeBron's son MILLIONS of dollars NOT TO PLAY. Not the choices of a serious championship contender, but, at least, LeBron James will be happy.

This ain't about the money. The wifey wouldn't be reacting like that if it was just about the money. Imagine going in a situation where you likely wouldn't have full control of the team, the team direction, team culture, and always can and will be overturned by LeBron. Imagine LeBron not liking your decisions and he either overturns it and run something different (if it bungle you are still to blame, because LeBron wouldn't be admitting any fault... or LeBron wouldn't be listening to you... and bring the entire team with him to not listen to you (and media telling everyone that you lost the locker room). LeBron is the Lakers' priority. There will be zero backing from management. If, as a coach, you fail to reach the finals and win - in two years' time, you will be fired. You'll have not only displaced your family, you will be the one blamed by LeBron backed media (with the narrative of why the Lakers hire a college coach) and your career in the gutter and everyone calling you a failure.

Stephen A. Smith on First said the Lakers low balled him. California, according to SAS has a 16% State Income Tax and a 37% Federal Income tax rates. He didn't mention property tax a homeowners insurance rates. So, Hurley was best to decline that low ball offer. Plus, you have to put up with LeBron and Bronny. @nexusassoon8367 It didn't matter if he was a rookie NBA basketball coach. Coach Hurley was a two-time consecutive NCAA basketball championship coach. He's going to get $8 per year as a college basketball coach at Connecticut. At Connecticut, he picks his players and assistant coaches, and he doesn't have to worry about LeBron James and his son for the next 2-3 years. The pay they offered him was $11.6 million, plus all those high-priced taxes that are in California. He's better off making $8 million a year and staying in Connecticut. Who wants that extra headache for an extra $3.6 million. Let the Lakers hire rookie JJ Reddick, LeBron's first choice to be the Lakers head coach. Let's see what the Lakers offer him? Lol..

I’m a Laker fan from the days of Magic and even before that with Mr West and Mr Baylor Shaq and Kobe. I tried to be loyal but since Lebron arrived and after the unfair dismissal of DHam I’m done. They will never be what they were when Jerry Buss was alive. They treated Jerry West like trash and they didn’t even respond to his death until after the Clippers after all that he did for this franchise. I’m done. Hello Clippers. They can continue to support Letoxic James. Even though he may have the scoring record. Kareem will always have the record in my heart. I hope that Letoxic leaves this year. He has forgotten his humble beginnings. Shaq never received the respect either. I’m sad but not stupid. Great podcast. You’re not afraid to speak the truth. It’s time for me move on…..
