I am always here if you want to bounce ideas off. I have similar trouble with figuring out things in my yard. We cut down one of our beautiful honey locus trees today, and I’m trying to think of what to plant/create in the area the tree was. I find it tricky because Brendan always just agrees with me, rather than suggesting something. ❤

Agree on the solace of gardening but also longing for a conversation around some of it with someone who is really and genuinely interested. Wish we could transport right to each other's farms to converse!! Love your property and plans. Sublime!

Your view from the tunnel will be something that will breathe into your hopes and dreams on difficult days… go with the view. I ordered my first round of dahlia tubers this morning. Being in Brisbane I’m imagining our time to plant will be earlier than down south. I’m thinking about starting them in pots first to check if they have diseases, then a raised bed. (Our soil here is rubble and clay) using tomato frames to stabilise the plants? First Prize, Eureka, Anne’s Delight and Cloe are going to be my first foray into it. My Bunnings tubers will remain to be seen if they go a second season. Most of them have been lifted and stored for about a fortnight.

So true, the power and inspiration of a good view ✨

Ooo thats so exciting you are starting your Dahlia journey. I expect to hear its a new obsession soon haha. First Prize is one of my work horses.. it goes with almost everything. it's like it's got a warm tone yellow undertone and a cool tone pink. amazing. great idea to start in pots to check for disease!!! Happy Growing! Yes you can plant early in Qld, we have to wait for the frost to pass completely!

Love that idea of having the compost zone near where you strip leaves etc.

Hi Phaedra, Go away and come back to it the next day you will be amazed how an idea comes to you. I look at other flower farmers and take ideas from them. I use to get my husbands ideas but I don’t have him anymore so I rely on myself and my friends. Ask your viewers we are here to give you ideas if you like. Keep all your utilities together, compost, sheds, tools etc. I think raised beds will be useful too. Look at gardening magazines. Have fun❤

Hi Marie! thats a good point, just think on it a bit more. I love your idea of magazines! I read your message a few days ago (but didn't have time to reply) and went to the library and borrowed some landscaping books to have a squiz at!! hope you are well? xx

I don’t think our friends care, they really have no understanding of what we do. That’s why the socials community is so refreshing, an your videos 🌸

Awwwww, I'd be that friend!! I'm always happy to help and strategise. I'm a week away from building the first of my 20 garden beds and at least 15 of those beds will be 42m long. I'm procrastinating because I keep changing my mind 😂

Hi phaedra My name is Cathy. I'm a one girl flower farmer in gippsland. I feel your pain because I like my flower beds to look nice too but realistically flower farms never look how we want them to because they are always evolving. You could put it there this year and see if your happy and change it next year if not. I think it's better to have your wash sink near where you prep your flowers and make bouquets even if it's just outside. You could dig up your lilies and plant elsewhere if they are still small, what have you got to loose. I havnt planted mine yet and last year I planted a second lot in Nov which gave me lilies into autumn. I also plant things in crates and that way I can move them. Best of luck this year. Happy gardening xx

Im glad I listened to you plan properly as I almost thought you would accidentally shade out your last bed with the tunnel but the idea of hiding all of the washing station and the compost sounds like an awesome idea. Love it. Go for it!

I did consider shade plants back there but then I thought a little hidden work area might be the go! Im excited about it!!

In the future, you could take some photos of possible views and ask instagram followers? You don’t have to go with what they say but often you discover the ones you don’t like simply by someone say, “do that one” and in your heart you’re like “damn, no” 😂

@Serendipity_Strawberry_Farm5 ай бұрын
I have 16 of the lights in our flower field and have another 8 coming from the United States. My neighbours absolutely love how our field is looking as they drive through to their properties and told me last night that because we are on the rise of the hill here you can see all of our lighting on the highway driving towards us. Im just waiting on our signage to arrive which we designed with the sign maker about 6 weeks ago and our large pergolas should arrive in early spring for our evening flower and strawberry picking events. I love winter as it gives me the time I need to sit back and assess what needs to be done and get things in place before our season starts again.

Im not stopping flowers, it's just the florist shop we closed down (possibly temporarily). I can't remember how I worded things but a few people have thought we weren't growing flowers anymore. I'll always grow flowers and I love sharing that journey with everyone!!

IMHO those sika pine forests are not only a blot on the landscape but do nothing for nature.
