Oh to go back and do it all again. Loved this place so much. Drove into carpark at the weekend to show my children this place. Told them what was where and just showed them your great film. Many thanks.

I distinctly remember the ladybird ride and that I had to hold on for dear life because the thin bar across our laps was wet and slippery. I loved the Mary Rose and the Looping Star.

Great video. I went to Dreamland in 1995 and had a great time. I went the following year as well. The ferris was at the time the largest in Europe(it is now in Mexico). Sad about the railway! I hope it gets saved. Margate needs it nowadays!!!

I have such happy memories of Margate and Dreamland. It doesn't feel nearly so long ago as this video makes it look! I went there earlier this year and the town does look better than it has in recent years, but Dreamland is a sad sight. I hope it can be returned to something like it once was.

Was there last night. The place seemed like a dive. Weirdos walking around everywhere you look, unused buildings with broken windows and fire damage and the worst b and b in history just up the road. But with some money invested in to it Margate could probably be quite a nice seaside town

great memorys of margate i remember the entrance to dreamland the shops and smells of fish n chips and candy floss and how margate was lit up at night with the lights and the sounds of the bingo callers echoing from the amusement arcades ,, if i won the lottery id give margate back to the people how it used to be

Brilliant video footage. Apparently the landowners are fighting an appeal with Thanet Council and it goes to court on 11 and 12th March 2013 I think and if Thanet Council win they will be able to apply for rights to the land and then start restoration of Dreamland. Fingers crossed the landowners do not get their own way. You can search Save Dreamland on google for more information.

Just to clarify, the park has not been brought by a new owner. Thanet council are currently in the process of issueing a compulsory purchase order on the current land owner who has owned the site since the Bembom Brothers left in 95. Once this is passed the Save Dreamland campagin will have access to 50% of the land i.e the scenic railway side and plan to turn that half into a heritage theme park.
