Masha' Allah... Prior to listening to this lecture, I've had this thinking that the word DREAMS wasn't really appropriate. Why dreams? Visions yes but not dreams, I thought. Now I'm feeling guilty. This music reminds me of one of the shiekh's last lectures where he translates the Ayat in surat a-lkahf. It is intended to put you off the subject. "They will say there were three, the fourth of them being their dog; and they will say there were five, the sixth of them being their dog - guessing at the unseen; and they will say there were seven, and the eighth of them was their dog."

absolutely,It was "Ma'aazif" in the original arabic hadith, which means "musical instruments" ,not singing , I think there's no debate about this word , the meaning is clear ans simple, in arabic the act of "playing an instrument of music" is known as the verb "Ya'azif" which came from "Ma'aazif". and regarding what I've learned : Nasheed (or singing) with proper words is not forbidden wallahou aa'lem.

on SAHIH BUKHARI : Volume 2, Book 15, Number 72 : Narrated by Aisha Abu Bakr came to my house while two small Ansari girls were singing beside me the stories of the Ansar concerning the Day of Buath. How can you share Sheikh Imran's lectures with other brothers and sisters when this type of music (or any other type of music) is being played in his lecture videos? Ma'aazif used in specific contexts. It is haram when similar to alcohol and designer clothes (silk) - distractions at best and harmful and misleading at worst. Accordingly Sa'id ibn Jbayr is clear that it is when context of idle talk, meaningless chatter, it is haram. Still then there is Makruh. Music can fall then into three distinct categories. One good, and two not good, but only one truly Haram.

Only hadith in native language will suffice. What was the arabic word used for 'use of musical instruments'? Was it "Ma’aazif"? Is there not debate on the meaning of that word? Is a nasheed not 'singing'? Is singing not 'Ma'aazif'?

To say music is haram is based on defining 'Ma’aazif' in 4 incongruous ways. What is haram is the subject matter of the music. Is it connected to alcohol and fornication in the music .... then it is haram. If not, it can be halal.

Je' Czaja Well noticed point. I do look up to the Sheikh in many ways but his inconsistency with his criticism of men and his speaking of women as delicate little flowers needing protection has me thinking. In his speech about feminism he was noticeably lenient in his criticism of women and their abuse of the power they have to ruin men (sexual manipulation, false rape accusations, no fault divorce, dowry/pregnancy/alimony/child support fraud, etc). Also he left out many of the ahadith speaking of negatively aspects of female nature like their inferior intellect, their weak testimony, the majority of the inhabitants of hell will be women plus many more. On a recent talk of the Islamic village he offers women universal protection yet will shun the men he describes as being quote "garbage". He regularly does interviews with uncovered women and I choose my words carefully here that he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to tell women to their faces they have no place interacting with men and no place assuming men's roles to compete with men.
