Thank you so much for the demonstres, they are very helpful. I have one question. When you put on the second layer of pink and the paper was still damp how did you avoid blooms?

Good question, Laurie. To avoid blooms while adding more color, make sure there is less water on your brush than there is on the paper. I have a KZbin tutorial on How Much Water is enough. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIHZnmh4fJWfnKs Hope that helps.

@@susanharper9904 Thank you for your reply. Your video on avoiding blooms has helped me with water control but I am still not certain on one point. The paper was damp and you added a layer that was the same strength as the first layer. How do you get the same strength of color with less water. Do you mix the color to the strength you want and the let it dry up a bit? Likely a silly question but I struggle with this.

@@lauriek.8759 There are no silly questions, Laurie. However, I'm not exactly sure what your question is. What I am understanding is the question is about the paint itself. How did I get the same strength of color? I mixed up a puddle of color, enough to use for my whole demonstration, and just used that. I never mixed any more color. I used the same amount of color on the brush, mixed to the same strength. The only difference was the amount of water on the paper. And I didn't get the same color on both squares. The color was darker on the second square because there was less water on the paper, not more color on the brush. Does this help?

@@susanharper9904 yes thank you for the explanation. I was thinking this would make blooms. I will give it a try. That often helps.

@@lauriek.8759 I think I finally understand your question. Duh! The reason the second application of water doesn't leave a bloom is because I made sure my brush was not very wet when I dipped back into the color, also, the color puddle had been sitting there for a while and probably had evaporated some. You can have less liquid on your brush and just as much color.
