The fact that a game can be crowdsourced and built from nothing to full scale universe is incredible and almost reminds me of something akin to Inception, the Matrix (except controlled by us rather than machines) or Ready Player One. There's a touch of Schenectady NY (the Charlie Kaufman movie) in here too. It's like, imagine in the future a virtual reality game with photorealistic graphics and full-sense immersion that is constantly evolving due to millions of users contributing to it. Where does reality begin and our collective dreaming end in that kind of world? What does that do to human society and our individual and combined consciousness? Or to ask a more contemporary, relevant pop culture question: when we all fall asleep, where do we go?
@lordlubu30294 жыл бұрын
That isn't even hyperbole, my little brother has been playing this game non-stop for days and I honestly think he now has a big interest in game development. He's networking with people and working on projects and I can imagine the same thing is happening to thousands of other young people. This can very well be the catalyst that brings down the barrier to entry for game design and results in a new generation of developers
@barrelbarry99404 жыл бұрын
@@lordlubu3029 When I was a kid I played a lot of poor liscensed games, like Nicktoons Unite, Madagascar, Shrek 2, Incredibles... The Spongbob games were apleasannt exception. Now that i am an adult, my game ideas lean more original, but when I was a kid, all my game ideas were "oh man, when I'm an adult, I'm going to make the Shrek game but better. You'll be able to play as 20 characters..." and so on. And now that is entirely possible and I'm kind of stunned that these "lost" childhood dreams could now be realized. I'm just completely blown away, and I actually cried at how beautiful this things is.

@ELPRES1DENTE454 жыл бұрын
@@alvexas5510 - The Move Controllers are undoubtedly the best way to create, for most people. However, many prefer the Dual-Shock and utilize it perfectly. For everything that you are able to do and the tools that you can utilize within the game, the controls are absolutely perfect. Just because people haven't taken the time to get used to them yet, doesn't negate their significance or execution. Especially given those caveats, and that you can use the Move Controllers without VR, they've made this as simplified and accessible as humanly possible.

@@alvexas5510 - Nothing wrong with that, especially when you want to focus on creation. However, it's a great time to grab it and just hop in and out of people's creations to see what's always been added and changed, not to mention the inspiration drawn from which that you can utilize to plan out your own creative processes and bullet points. There's already a number of channels that have made outstanding tutorials on how to create, modify, and implement the amazingly malleable processes.

GeraBlitZ because he wasn’t going off topic and was giving an in-depth analysis as to what the game is and could/will be in the future. Too often do you see games journalists comparing games to each other and just copying 80% of the original review and just re-naming the subjects of the new game. Example: “The surge is like dark souls for cyberpunk fans, the game mechanics follow the same rules of dark souls where you pick your battles carefully because its brutal game design makes it so you can’t rush the game as you learn all the enemies mechanics before moving on. The rest points are also like dark souls where you will respawn and restock your healing items and just like dark souls doing so will make the enemies respawn” Journalists that do that are shitty, they would never talk about the unique aspect of aiming for specific parts of other mechs to break off to use for your own or how in depth the customization of the game goes. This reporter talked about both the gameplay Dreams creates for you, what you can create with the tools given, it’s limits and capabilities, the making of new developers and studio teams etc. Thats really important to point out about this game because that’s the stuff that will draw in people that like this style of gaming where everyone can show their skills in their unique ways. Just like how Minecraft blew up to being one of the biggest video games in history offering no limits to those who made their own mods for anything, or even vanilla creations that have been made in the game. This journalist could have just called it Minecraft 2 HD and said Minecraft 40x like other journalists say “Souls-like” in their works comparing the 2 games.

The review fails to mention the sound tools, and this is a major oversight. Inside Dreams is a full digital audio workstation complete with pro features like piano roll. You can play the controller like an instrument. The are thousands of instruments, and sound samples. You can even create your own by recording. This allows anyone to make their own music and sound effects from scratch. As an example, I have published a set of 11 zombie sounds that I created with nothing other than my mouth and the PS4 camera mic. These are sounds that have been used in hundreds of creations already.
