Dreams Royal Beach, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic travel tips - November 2021

Travel along with us as we visit our first all inclusive resort outside of Mexico. Dreams Royal Beach near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic is located next door to Secrets (an adults only all-inclusive).
We also booked a tour of the Marinarium. This excursion provides an opportunity to swim with sharks and stingrays, kayak, paddle board, or just relax and enjoy a relaxing massage with a nice ocean breeze above a coral reef offshore.

great video and lots of good hints! we've booked a preferred club double pool view. Which section is this in? Is there a dedicated preferred club section? If so, which section is it?

Thanks for the comment! There are preferred sections for the pool, an area on the beach, in the main lobby and one restaurant (Seaside grill) for breakfast and lunch. I believe the preferred rooms are actually spread out among several buildings. We saw a sign near our building (Mar Azul side of the resort) that said it was Preferred rooms, but I suspect there are more in other buildings since we were not super close to the preferred pool area.

Hello, wonderful video!! Thank you for taking the time out to capture, edit and lost. I would like to surprise my boyfriend for his 40th birthday. Would you recommend this resort overall? Did the staff treat you well? Was the food good? Did you ever get bored? Lol. Sorry to swamp you. I have so many questions. Everyone is talking about the Secrets resort but I’m more curious about the Royal Dream. Do you pay at hotel? Is there a curfew for the pool? Lastly, did you purchase the travel insurance? Loll

Thanks for the comment! I'll try to address your questions: I would certainly recommend Dreams & Secrets. The staff at both resorts which are next to each other is amazing! We have been to other Secrets / AM Resorts locations, and they are all consistently good. The food is very good for an all-inclusive. I would recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club package so you can eat breakfast and lunch at SeaSide (if you stay at Dreams). We didn't get bored, but you can always book an excursion through the hotel like we did for the Marinarium tour if you do get bored. We paid for the trip on Expedia, but brought some cash to tip (even though it is not required). I'm not sure about the pool curfew, I would assume it closes at some point - but we were likely sleeping by that time, LOL! We did purchase travel insurance. It's best to do that the same day you book, which we did through Expedia as well. The main difference is that Dreams is usually a little less $$, and kids are allowed. Secrets is 100% adults only.

Hey great video. I'm looking for a holiday in DR that will be comparable to the grand moon palace in Cancun. Would you recommend this place?

We haven’t been to Grand Moon Palace, but from looking online it looks like the resort in Cancun is very kid friendly with a lot of activities for families. From what we’ve experienced with AMR brands (Secrets/Dreams) this was a typical resort in their mid-range price.

Masks are optional, they do recommend wearing a mask at the buffet style restaurant where you get your food (not at the table) but otherwise it is left up to what you feel comfortable with everyplace else.

We didn't feel unsafe at all, however we only left during the day and didn't travel very far away from the resort other than the Marinarium tour which was about a 30min drive.

@@craigmason7242 the store where we got the sunscreen from is within walking distance (less than 1 mile), along a main road with sidewalks on both sides. We used Google Maps on our phones to guide us and also went for morning runs past the shopping areas. Have a nice vacation!

Hi, what was the weather like in November?

It was plenty warm, mid 80's during the day perfect for swimming to cool off. The temperature in DR is sunny & hot year-round. Hurricane season typically ends in November, so hopefully things will be slowing down in terms of storms soon.

What are some of the main perks of upgrading to preferred? Is it just the seaside restaurant and private beach access? I'm looking to book this resort but I see preferred is quite a bit of an increase price wise. Just wondering if the experience will still be great if I don't choose preferred.

I think you’ll have a great time either way! It was nice having breakfast at seaside, it was better than the buffet. If the resort is not too busy, the regular beach area should have plenty of seating. There is a small area near the pool for preferred club, but we didn’t use it. It was nice having a concierge for restaurant reservations, but the resort wasn’t very busy so we may have been able to get the same times on our own. I think if it’s busy the preferred club is more worth it, otherwise save the money. Have fun!!

That’s funny, I LOVE lizards and we actually had to take a walk off property to find one. They seem to be more prevalent in Mexico and Belize.

Coming back to USA do they required Covid test? How fast was the result

Yes, a test is required which is offered at the resort. Cost of the test was included in our stay, and we had our results within 24 hours.

Oh okay. How was the resort? Crowded? I heard they are quarantined people who are positive at resort for 14 days.It was clean?

@@darshana5895 it was not crowded the week we were there. Most resorts do have a building reserved for Covid positive guests. We don’t believe anyone was in that building during our stay, but we saw the building. It’s the same as the others but distanced from the main cluster. The resort is very clean.

Currently, US residents do not have to be vaccinated to return. A negative test is required of both vaccinated and unvaccinated though, within 24hrs of boarding a plane.

@@user-yl8en2iq4q it depends on where you are traveling from. To get back to the USA it is currently required to get a negative test. You don't need a test (currently) to get TO the resort, only to get back to your home country. Each country has their own restrictions, and they seem to be changing on a weekly basis but as of December 2021 those are the regulations for USA residents.

The food is good, our favorites were SeaSide Grill and Fusion. I was not very impressed with the seafood restaurant (Oceana). If you upgrade to the Preferred Club you can eat breakfast an lunch at SeaSide Grill - otherwise it's only available for dinner.
