Well thanks to some eagle eyed watchers it has come to my attention that I did a flapless landing! At first I thought something had gone wrong with the replay but sure enough watching the cockpit view landing I never dangled the flaps!! I NEVER do a landing in the Spit without flaps! It’s almost automatic muscle memory for me hit the flap switch on my Bravo!! I have no idea why my brain omitted it this time and to be fair the aircraft didn’t feel too bad! Certainly didn’t really notice it although playing it back I did comment on ‘a bit fast’ 🤦🏻♂️

Great Video and brilliant to have a Burning Blue Designs Fowlmere in the sim and for Free! I was at the airfield earlier in the summer and the virtual recreation is absolutely spot on! Great place to visit and fly both in the sim and in real life! Interesting to hear what you made of the eye tracker and to see you back on another adventure in the Spitfire.

Remembering Ken Mayes, an armourer at Fowlmere during the Battle of Britain, who I knew quite well for a few years. Later in the war he was armourer for a Whirlwind squadron somewhere down in Devon, I believe.

I've been to Fowlmere quite a few times now as my Brother and his family live in the village, very close to the airfield. I love this airfield as it is steeped in history as you say. 19 Squadron were based there during the Battle of Britain after moving out of Duxford. There are still some tell-tale signs of the the original crew accomodation groundworks, before the americans arrived. The museum is small but well worth the time to visit. What Burning Blue have not shown, is the RAF crest that was painted by one of the RAF airmen, on one of the walls of the main Barn outbuilding in Manor Farm. I was very fortunate to have been shown the RAF crest by the museum curator, Mark, on one of my visits. It is great that Burning Blue have modelled this lovely little historical relevant gem of an airfield. I would have willingly paid to add this to my list of other airfields modelled by Burning Blue Design. Thank you, Burning Blue. Excellent work, as always.

Its been a few years, but been in to both Fenland and Fowlmere IRL. BBD have done a great job with both accuracy wise. Fenland doesn't have the longest runways, 26/08 being 670m long, but you made a lovely landing even without flap-page...! It's also nice to hear a little of your IRL background too Rob!

Great video as a,ways and one of the best channels 👍 Burning blue turn out some fantastic GA airfields so will be adding this one to my collection for sure. I’ve just recently got myself the Tobii eyetracker 5 and find it spot on in GA aircraft but in say the fenix A320 I tend not to use it so much however it’s been a great addition to my simming and wouldn’t be without it now. I too have turned off eye tracking and my settings I adjusted as per a vid I watched by simhanger which so far seem to be ok for me.
@Dreamsofwings3 ай бұрын
Many thanks! Yes I tried the Simhanger settings first but didn’t quite work for me as well as my old head tracker. Got some really good settings now from another sim pilot so getting there at least!

Fowlmere looks fantastic, i hope they see fit to allow us xboxers to pay for a copy. Fenland is my local so it was a total no brainer purchase on day 1. If you fancy a great lazy day flight i recommend either spit or T-Moth from Fenland, out to the wash then round the east anglian coast and up the esturary to Stowe Maries. great flight in any weather

I can walk to Fowlmere Airfield from my house (& Duxford, which is great as they give locals free access and I can regularly just pop in to admire some plane and have a coffee). This Fowlmere scenery by BBD is incredibly good - I've never seen freeware with this level of attention. Seeing the effort taken to recreate the memorial at Fowlmere in such detail was genuinely touching. BTW did you land flaps-up?
@Dreamsofwings3 ай бұрын
@@ViewBothSides must be great living in such a warbird rich area. No, landed flaps down but, as someone else has pointed out, the replay shows them up. This can be confirmed by seeing the cockpit footage of the landing.

I'm late to this, but it's BBD and, aerodrome by aerodrome, they're perfectly recreating the country I learned to fly in IRL. Wish I could again, but my daughter emerged and drained my wallet like an industrial sump. Anyway, there's a row of parked cars at Fowlmere and I'm convinced that their (fictitious) licence plates spell out a history-based coded message. I haven't cracked it but have made enough progress to assure me I'm onto something. It's an Enigma.

I've been to Fowlmere a couple of times and BB's rendition looks pretty good. It's so close to Duxford that aircraft landing at Fowlmere will call Duxford on approach. I'll eventually get FS2024 and for me I'll be getting the Premium Deluxe. You get all the new aircraft and upgraded airports. The Aviator's edition would only give me some aircraft I have already.

@Dreamsofwings3 ай бұрын
@@Kayne105 unfortunately at the moment they are unable to offer it for free via Marketplace as there is a cost to be featured on there but there is a hope that this will change with MSFS 2024 I believe. In the meantime it will be sold at the lowest price they are able to.
@davidwitherow9003 ай бұрын
Price difference between the MSFS Standard and Premium Deluxe editions is £60. If HPG were selling the H225 as a third-party aircraft at their usual price, that would be north of forty quid right there. As it is, you won't be able to get it anywhere else. That and the C-17 make the Premium Deluxe edition a bargain for me. But even if the C-17 isn't for you, there's surely enough value in trying out at least some of the other new aircraft in the Premium and Premium Deluxe editions to add £15 or so to the the 'cost' of the H225 to make up the full £60 difference between the latter and Standard.

This looked like a nice airfield, so I downloaded it. However it doesn't work for me because I don't have Old Warden Aerodrome. In reality it isn't a free airfield, it is a addon to Old Warden Aerodrome. As a result I will wait and see if we can use Burning Blues Airfields in MSFS2024 before I spend any more on airfields. I'm a bit disappointed as I was keen on this one.
@Dreamsofwings3 ай бұрын
There is nothing on there that says you need to have Old Warden. Who told you that? This is a standalone airfield so you do not need any other airfield. I think you are possibly confusing this with an issue where if you DO have Old Warden an older version can effect the size of assets in other airfields which is solved by installing the new version of Old Warden. If you don’t have Old Warden the. It’s not an issue for you and something else is causing it. Try asking on their Discord, they are really helpful and have a good knowledgeable community too.
