What a wonderful, funny and entertaining video. I'm completely in love with this plane and started a roadtrip along the U.S. West Coast from San Diego until I reach the Canadian border with the option to cross border and go to Alaska (not sure if I should wait for spring or even summer flying live) I try to stick to the procedures and start getting them into my muscle memory. I had a few troubles on my way with the internal oil pump and carburetor icing. Coming to the point, I operate always by the book using the power setting table. And always lean to the optimal setting (about -100). It was a little bit irritating watching you doing it not (or have i missed it). Would be interesting what you or someone else thinks about it. It makes me feel uncomfortable knowing I'm not using the "right" power setting (even fiddling with RPM getting it 100% spot on)

Many thanks and apologies for irritating you! I mentioned in the video that I wasn’t using the EDM to lean but was using the EGT and listening to the engine. Not as accurate as you perhaps.

I love the Comanche in MSFS. Yes I agree it does immediately show the gap between A2A and everybody else. The Fokker F28 is probably the closest other aircraft in terms of quality and steam guage goodness. I always have ATC on VATSIM logging off the second I want to make a video so I know that feeling. I really like the polish of your videos, keep it up!

There’s a ton of fairly decent videos out there on how to pilot. You’re clearly not one and don’t pretend to be. Major tick for that. I value this video because you demonstrate what it’s like to be someone in my situation; a simmer with an absolute love for their Piper Comanche showing it off. It’s you, your dog, and your Comanche exploring the world (with a small airline narrative going on). Really relate to that.

Lol I appreciate your honesty. I do have some flying training from some years ago, as far as first solo, but it is a rare thing for me to do IFR, especially in an aircraft like this. I think it's important every now and then to challenge yourself to find your weak spots.
@Plumsouffle6 ай бұрын
@@Dreamsofwings if you do more IFR, especially ILS stuff, I’ll definitely be watching closely. Sounds like we might both be neglecting our IFR a bit.

You deserve a round of applause for that touchdown in that weather. Good job. Try FS Hud, adds a lot of immersion and easier to manage than P2ATC.

Thanks for this. As we would say in Scotland, it is 'gey dreich'. Had the plane 2 wks now, & I've tested the book specs on long range and high altitude flights - impressively accurate! Though, like in the real world the performance is not spot-on.

Ah many thanks! Yes I think it helps immensely that the owner of A2A owns one and can focus the realism as a result.

Great simulator, one can quickly understand how easy it is for things to go wrong in IFR conditions. I would be interested in seeing flights were there's an emergency (in-flight engine failure, severe thunderstorm build up whilst in-flight, fuel leakage, avionic failure - comms/nav, carb heat failure etc.).

hi! have you ever had problems with the TRK autopilot? for me, it just doesn't track the GPS route
@Dreamsofwings8 ай бұрын
It’s a bit like I said in the video, it’s an old autopilot system that struggles to follow tight turns on a GPS route. Sometimes you either have to disconnect early and manually fly the tight curve or use heading mode to anticipate the curve and then reconnect to TRK. Think of it more like holding a biscuit in front of a dog’s nose rather than the dog being on a rail track :)
