My goodness, so many things to say!! xD Your piece is absolutely gorgeous, Denise! I had a feeling you'd find the reference I used, which is great! I'm glad you didn't feel like you were going in blind. I ended up looking up some pose/lighting references myself when working on my piece. I love seeing all of the little coincidences that come up with mystery/surprise collabs like this. Such memorable things to get to create!! Also, I debated SO LONG about which side of that paper was the front. xD I cut it from a full sheet, and that stuff was confusing even though it was watermarked. -_- Anyway, you handled it beautifully, and watching this piece come together is a joy. ♥ Can't wait to team up for more fun in the future!

It took me a while to figure out the siding too haha! And I may have been wrong, I didn't paint on the other side. I have a pad somewhere I meant to check but never got around to it. It is a joy to watch you work. I have enjoyed watching all of your owl painting pictures! Yes, this one is truly a joy as well! I was corrected by a girl in my watercolor class in college she was taking French and our teacher had a TON of the Moulin du Roy papers she said Roy (like the name in English) lil miss frenchie said it’s Waaaaa like a babies cry, every time the teacher said Roy! There Is a rather famous hockey player named Patrick Roy he uses Waaa as well. I have not used these papers in years as I prefer the Arches brand, another instructor said there simply is no other paper “real”watercolorist use! Yeah it is amazing how much we are influenced as a beginner, However I used many different brands of papers over the years, even some small batch handmade brands! Lovely video and painting Denise! I absolutely love your color choice for this one it's so beautiful and kinda excited to see you more colorful again .you are so good with color it's really nice to see you use a non natural pallet for a realistic piece.. And I love to see you to work together, I feel like you have a great chemistry where you push each other enough to make it fun and interesting and challenging but not so far that one wouldn't enjoy it or feel overwhelmed. I would have never thought to use those colors, but when you finished and I saw the end results...I was amazed at how beautiful it turned out. My hope is to be as good an artist as you and others I've watched someday. Omg, best collab ever!!! 😱😍 I cant stand granulating colors in my own paintings, 9 out of 10 I don’t like it in others either. Had a bit of fear I wouldnt look at the whole video cause of that. But this is that one time I love it, it turned out so perfect on the owl! The colorcombo are so much on point! Wish I was that brave too, to think outside the box! The painting is amazing! Such a beautiful painting and choice of colours! Canson Moulin du Roy is my favourite watercolour paper, but someone had told me that they stopped making it :( I'm not sure if that's accurate, though. Loved the video!

Was so happy when I seen this, question what is your favorite animal group (birds cats or you know simplify it more mammal birds and reptiles?) also I’ve been using colored pencils with my water color, I find they dry to light for me (no matter the brand) and I want something darker though of course layering helps I just need that defined dark.

If you use watercolors you need to use layers to create darks for depth. I have used watercolor pencils with many of my watercolor paintings over the years. I will say that if you are not using solid watercolor paints (high pigment content) you may never have good rich darks!

Dammit, now I want Sodalite paint. LoL. Funny story, I had a friend who liked making user pics back in the livejournal days and she did a round where she’d match your favorite animal with a mineral/gemstone of her choice. The one she made me was sodalite chinchilla. Now seeing sodalite the paint in action, I want to paint a chinchilla with it. Though I’ve never actually painted one I was happy with. All that fluff is hard to paint without ending up with a blob!
