Here 15 years later. I’m waiting for you (Dredg), I know you’re not very far behind, to play catch up 😉 Can’t wait for the next masterpiece 🐧 🌵

The guitarist does something so unique and lovely. He provides the atmosphere that the others breathe and fly around inside, and also the ground they walk on. He uses his delay pedal to multiply himself, and as one part fades away a new layer is added, building a rhythmic and tonal structure that gives each other player context. He keeps more time than the drummer and provides a firmer foundation than the bassist, but somehow doesn’t diminish them. It sounds almost like the bass and drums are playing on top of the guitar, which is pretty unusual. He does so much and it warms my heart to watch this man play.

Check out a band called Fingertight. They only did one record but the guitarist does much the same. It’s worth a listen, Dredg rules!

This concert is so beautiful it often brings me to tears when I watch it. Their art is so powerful, so honest, so inventive, so pure. As a former musician myself who played in several bands, I am, each time I come back to Dredg, simply astonished by the profundity and depth of the songwriting. Frankly, I have difficulty comprehending how anyone could write music this good; this perfect. But where _does_ genius come from? We cannot predict or formulate it; we can only recognize its joyful and terrifying presence through the transfigurations it brings. Dredg's music is secular-spiritual. To listen to them is to open yourself up to a transcendent and profoundly altering experience. In my view, this band is too good for our society. We really do not deserve them. I have tried to introduce Dredg to as many people as I can, so that their lives can be transformed like mine has been. The fact that this band has not been, in my view, adequately recognized for their profound and lasting artistic achievements actually causes me physical and emotional pain (though I trust their loyal following genuinely appreciates their work). This may sound crazy; if anyone reads this they will likely say to themselves: wow, that dude has issues. What I'm saying, though, comes from my sense of seriousness about what music, when made by rare artists like Dredg, can mean and how delicate and rare the existence of something like that is, particularly in our over-marketized society wherein music is increasingly mass-produced and artistic authenticity is consequently threadbare and imperiled (which, in a way, it always is and always has been). Thank you, Dredg, for changing my life with your music, and for being with me, in the depths of who I am as a person, for all these years.

I always liked Dredg since their first Album. I lived in Dortmund back then in 2009 and totally had the chance to go to that Visions Festival but I didn't go because I thought it would suck because it was indoors. I just discovered this live video from that concert a few days ago and now I hate myself for not going there because their performance is so breathtaking. I love it.

I bring this up anytime I've had a few too many 🤣 and yeah it gets me teary eyed for some reason. It brings me back to when bands had actual talent. Nowadays most people use so many backing tracks and are basically doing glorified karaoke.

Dino is absolutely colossal behind the kit. For how much energy and physicality he puts into his playing, it's never too loud or overpowering the rest of the band. The amount of raw talent in Dredg is nuts

I grew up listening to these guys. I grew up in LA and was a musician, sound tech, engineer, you name it. I played in a lot of bands with varying degrees of success. One day my best friend and drummer when we were drunk and stoned said "you have to listen to these guys." He sat me down in his room in dark and put on "El Cielo" and it was a high point in my life.

We need more DREDG in this world! Luckily, I've seen some recent interviews with Gavin that suggest that new stuff is in the works. I'm a musician myself, and I know the process sometimes isn't so quick when you're working on being creative in between "real" jobs. But I hope that we can have more music from this amazing band in our lives sooner rather than later! I just discovered this concert today and I'm kind of in bliss right now. 🤘🏽🤘🏽 The entire band sounds impeccable, and I honestly don't know how Gavin can keep his voice so pristine throughout an entire show!

So many of my favorite artists are appreciated and shared by my friends and family members. But so few of them are moved by dredg the way I am, and the way that most of you are. I just don't get it. But it's great to come here and read your comments. It's great to be able to share that with others, even if it's just an anonymous group of people turning the comment section into a productive, thoughtful, and non snarky place to show admiration for an artist. This band is so criminally underappreciated it's a goddamn tragedy. Legitimately one of the best groups of the past few decades with multiple masterpiece records. But people fall over themselves to praise and celebrate the most generic, milquetoast pop music made by billionaires instead and pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to go to a stadium gig where they get to listen to autotracks and pitch corrected "live" vocals.
