I used to have a monster s4r, they're great bikes, and they started the naked bike movement that we know and love today. Back in the early 90s the design of the monster was really a very bold move for Ducati that has since payed dividends. Congrats on the new bike!
@forthebold6 жыл бұрын
I really do like the naked frames on them, it's the same as what CCM are doing now with their Spitfire range, it's the frame that attracts me to those too.

Not sure why, but these are my favorite videos of yours. I like seeing the different bikes you come up with randomly. Don’t get me wrong, I love your build videos (you are actually my inspiration for building my cafe) but I really like seeing “buying” videos. Can’t wait to follow your Motovlog vids as well. Would like to see interesting places over in the UK.

Just brought myself a Ducati monster 97 M400 (first on road bike so best to keep the cc's lower) thinking of building a new tank on it though make it more of that straight line cafe racer look! Bike exif has a few example of how hard work can make a monster look amazing!! Look forward to seeing more videos on the italian machine

Hey mate, I just bought one of these a few months ago. Ordered an Ignitech module for it and upgraded from the 600 to the 620 motor. I'm getting it resprayed in Pearl white and red stripe for the tank + cowl, with red for the frame. Can't wait to see what you do with this one!
@forthebold6 жыл бұрын
Excellent, won't be doing much on this only maintaining it and enjoying the ride. Might have a new headlight at least
@lowsideluke6 жыл бұрын
Nice, it's definitely worth giving the carbs a clean for a bike of that age. If you need a rebuild/seal kit for the carbs and don't want to spend a fortune, you can use one for a TRX850 or TDM850. The other thing that goes and is hard to get (there's no part number) is the air cut off valve cover. I've had to design some replacement ones and 3D print them for mine, so let me know if either of yours are cracked. The CDI units tend to go, but you can replace them with an Ignitech.

Good call. Luckily this was put on a Dynojet to set it up along with the Termingonis which was one of the reasons I bought it.

It sounds like you plan to sell the Suzuki when it is done and keep the CX and this bike. I like the Ducati naked style. Dean on the Hack-a-week channel took a Ducati touring bike and turned it into a naked model. That series of videos was fun to watch.

We used to run a Ducati 800ss in Bemsee Minitwins racing. Very similar bike underneath, I loved that bike, although I only rode it to scrutineering and back, we had a proper racer who rode it on track. We beat lots of Suzuki SV650s over the 2 or 3 years we competed hahahah.
@forthebold6 жыл бұрын
I was tempted by an SS too, but decided on this in the end. I would have been happy with either tbh
@ChaoticDetour6 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on the find! I have always liked the idea of getting one of them. I liked the idea of the 750; 600 is fun, 900 and above would kill me with the 750 being enough to get into trouble, but still control with my abilities. At least that was the thought.

Friday's video will be the test run, I could do with more power.
@MotoMirius6 жыл бұрын
You'd be fine on a 1200. Not as much difference on the road as you'd expect, especially commuting. What you lose on the red light dragstrip you make back with better filtering on the smaller bike. Most of the power doesn't get used on the road with a bigger bike, the smaller bike uses more of it's power more of the time, so it balances out.
@forthebold6 жыл бұрын
nice to get a perspective on it, never been on a 1200
@Fezzler616 жыл бұрын
So true! And with the smaller bike, better handling. I have a HD Road King and had a Honda Shadow cruisers. Great bikes both. But I really love riding my '78 Honda cb500 I restored last year. I get the fun factor of small, light bikes now.
@MotoMirius6 жыл бұрын
Fezzler61 aye, and with the Harley comes weight which carries through on braking and cornering. My 1200 Sportster is a tank compared to my 1200 Bandit and requires a lot more rider input where the 650 Bandit is much more flickable even if it lacks the acceleration grunt.

One of my favorite bikes of all time. I've wanted a Monster since I saw one in the Crow movie. The sequel with Vincent Perez. When they released the Monster Dark, I almost died! The only reason I've avoided buying one is I've heard maintenance is often, difficult, and expensive. I just don't have the resources for that.

I've always wanted one, seems unreal to have one sitting there in the workshop.
