Its not just music, games and art also. There was a Holdfast Nations at war video, where people were blasting german music, from both ww1 and ww2 through voice chat for the fun, and youtube deleted the vid with more than 2 mil views, and the uploader had to make a very cut, "family friendly" version that had most of the good jokes cut out. Tough he uploaded the original to pornhub :D

I was in the British Army and in Germany , 68-75, I met a troop of Trainee soldiers marching and singing, whilst they were on a route march, it was brilliant and I have never forgotten the occasion.

I own this album. The text to the songs are on the back of the album . I do speak German. I used to put the record on and sing along at the top of my lungs. It is also a good way to learn German painlessly! After 30 years, I can still sing along without the text before me. Also, many of the songs are not strictly military, but are general folks " Wanderlieder", or songs that were written to be sung when out hiking.

Lived in Weinheim-Bergstrasse and couldn't reconcile the stories from WW2 with the honourable loving people I lived with for years. Sadly the war-generation are gone now and have been replaced by a self-loathing generation of replacements. Far from perfect, historical Germans rank as the pinnacle of humanity at its moral best only to be in the crosshairs of those who would have us reduced to ignorance poverty servitude and moral decay.... forever. These songs represent an element of German cultural achievement at it's best.

Waffen ss units from Soviet Union were the most many soldiers volunteers and vehicles than any other country that sent soldiers to fight in the side of Nazis. When I was little my father had a collection of this stuff and played it on the Telefunken! Perhaps this is why 60 years later I'm a trumpet player who drives a Mercedes and rides a BMW

I imported a Japanese release of this record on CD a while back, cost me about €50 in total. Yesterday I visited a thrift store and found an original vinyl release, near mint condition, for only €2 lol. I suppose it's nice to have both and at least the CD saved me the trouble of recording the audio off of the vinyl.

From QE.II’s coronation day I attended school in SouthWestAfrica; for my German background + school singing of quite a lot of these folksongs was not only normal, if not ‘compulsory’. Listening to them here again is a privilege and many memories of my youth come passionately back to mind. ☺

Wunderschöne Erinnerung an meine Wehrdienstzeit! Leider werden heutzutage diese herrlichen Klänge als teilweise "nazistisch" bezeichnet 🤔 Das ist altes deutsches Liedgut! Wer die Kultur kennt, kennt auch unsere Dichter, Denker und Komponisten 🎼 Marsch Lieder vom Feinsten!

These marching songs are inspiring. I never had any military training of sort, not in the university, not even in job search. Yet these songs make me feel that I am at par with my compatriots in terms of patriotism.
