That is an interesting hacksaw. I don't have one like it. My favorite hacksaw is the old mechanical one we have that runs on 110. Always makes me smile to watch it work. Having laid on my back under a vehicle more than a few times using a hacksaw is the root of that enjoyment.

I collect small old cast iron gas engines and the S&W tachometer is very useful for making adjustments. I have a different brand of thread checker and it is a time saver. A few years ago I bought a 5 gallon bucket full of new nuts and bolts. It took a week to sort and size them without the thread checker. I need to get a metric one now.

Ricky- Trust me, if you watch the news or any main stream media you will suffer from depression... It's unavoidable if you watch or read the news. Take a sabbatical from the news and only watch programs that make you happy... My favorites are old TV Westerns and other shows from my youth like Andy Griffith... Then indulge yourself into a hobby like restoring tools... Lastly get at least 20 minutes of exercise a day and in 2 months you will feel born again. This really works... =) I was where you are!

I have found the best all purpose grit for belts is 220, however, I always suggest getting a assortment pack when ordering so you can see how each grit behaves. Cool restoration again John . I would like to know if you would be interested in showing . How to hook up a small 6 gallon air compresor tank to a 40 gallon slave tank . To have more air volume to run off of . I don't know how to do plumbing , so I am at a lose .
@ScoutCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave! Are you sure you have enough CFM's? Many times that's the problem when running spinning air tools as compared to nail guns and staplers. What size compressor are you running?
@AmericanCoinHunting5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure @@ScoutCrafter .It's an older 2 cylinder max 100 psi Craftsman air compressor with a 12 gallon tank (Not 6 gallon as I thought ) .Reading the side of the tank it says -Displacement 8.8 cfm [249 LM], --Air Delivery-- 6.6 scfm @ 40 psi [187 slm @ 276 kPa],,,, and 5.3 scfm @ 90 psi [150 slm @ 621 kPa] . Does this mean I need a 40 - 80 gallon slave tank ? Or a larger air compressor in general ? I only want to run a needle gun , or 1/4" Die grinder at 90 psi . But I don't need to run a paint gun or more than 1 tool at a time , and it's at it's highest setting of 85-90 psi as it is . Any help here ? Thank You John .
@ScoutCrafter5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave! Got it! I have the same compressor and have always had trouble running High CFM tools. The paint gun shouldn't be an issue but the die grinders use a lot of air! The compressor is always cycling! Compressed air is funny, a bigger tank hold more air but as soon as the pressure drops in the tank the compressor kicks on again! I have seen those big vertical tanks but it might be the same issue but you have more air! =) Thanks

@@ScoutCrafter Hi guys. I have gone to the Midwest Tool Collectors meets and fortunately have always arrived right at the end after the sales have closed. I'm already dangerously close to black hole density in the storeroom. Lewie sent me several of those small threading dies. I keep telling myself I need a die holder for the tailstock on the South Bend. Cool box of taps, dies, and drill bits. Have you ever tried sharpening a tap or die? Everybody does drill bits. Hi Christina! I must have 60+ hacksaws so I am a stickler about "fit and feel" like you said. This saw is nice for sure but in no way compares to a vintage Millers Falls single blade saw. I just picked up an auto wrench that has 4 bent teeth. Is there anyway I can straighten them? Or is the wrench useless?

Sometimes they can be straightened out with a little heat and patience... Many of the old auto-wrenches like Vlchek were very malleable and bent easily... I have had wrenches with missing teeth! Bummer! LOL Thanks!!!!
