I got one like this, but it's a hikari and they have a catalytic heater, so you use the flame to heat the catalytic heater and then cut the flame. as gas pass by it heats more and keep the heat going without any open flame... very handy and useful.

I bought one of those gas soldering irons at Aldi here in Australia it's exactly the same as the Dremel branded one in this video the only difference between the one I bought and the one in the video is the color scheme the one in the video has a blue color scheme whereas the one I bought has a red color scheme other than the color scheme being different it's exactly the same in every way. I bought mine for $50.

I bought a cheap knock off this and the flame didn't even last 1 min. I saw the Dremel video of this lasting between 45 to 90 mins depending on settings. So I bought it.

Was it in Russian? I watched a video where the uploader put the Versatip next to a butane lighter, and the Versatip lasted for 1 hour before the it ran out of gas, while the lither only lasted for 5 minutes.

dude you are doing it wrong, after you fire it up, you are supposed to lower the flame to the minimum with the fire ignition switch, to warm up the thing for 3-4 seconds, only then max the flame, at this rate the catalytic thing will burn out and you will be looking to buy a replacement

dont know what gas you are using, but with gas for lighter on minimal gas output I got a LOT bigger flame than you on medium (ronson universal gas refill, 300ml/2€)

Can you placed the protective cap on the torch while it is hot, or do you have to wait until the tip or torch cool down.

Hi Kelvin, i test the cap material and is not heat resistant. But if you avoid touching it yes you can.
