my dad is 101. 2 years ago he went to the doctor and told him his heart was skipping a beat. Doctor checked hi and decided he should see a specialist. As the wait was 2 months, my dad decided to take multi-vitamin pills and my the time he saw the specialist his heart was normal. Specialist told him to keep doing what he was doing and come back in 1 year for a checkup. He went back and the specialist gave him the all clear. easy peasy and he is still alive today

This happened to my husband. He was diagnosed as Hypokalemic (was in the hospital's computer but he was never told about it). He was then sent home with a Diuretic and Metoprolol to 'treat' his high blood pressure. Over the course of another year his symptoms got much worse, heart cramps, leg cramps and bladder spasms (not to mention hair loss from Metoprolol). I did my research and found Dr. Berg's videos.... rest is history :-) He's off ALL pills and has normal blood pressure ever since at age 57. He also lost 90 lbs of fat.

I had them for 8 months before I started taking apple cider vinegar one tablespoon per day mixed with lemon juice and water, and it honestly seems to be helping. Even the ones I’ve gotten haven’t been as hard and scary. Drink it through a straw so it doesn’t affect your teeth.

I went to the ER multiple times thinking I was having a heart attack. I now know it's a stomach issue. If I drink a fizzle drink that makes me burp, I will usually feel better. Meat also does this too me. I also had biliary sludge which causes chest pressure. I used Dr. Bergs gallbladder formula and I don't have the sludge anymore. Things are getting better.

Johnny Flores mine felt like my heart was flipping in my chest, Dr also said I would always have them. I mentioned I thought my taste and smell was changing, he said try magnesium. Kamie Compton glad you are feeling better mines started around 6 years ago they start as one or two a day then grow to more I noticed mines more at night while trying to sleep there are many causes but will never know the true cause i stopped caffeine and stay more hydrated sometimes exercise can trigger them due to adrenaline rush hopefully with the meds i can calm them more and do something more naturally to make them less noticeable every one says its just stress ignore them im like there is no way you can ignore your heart beating abnormally they don’t understand

Johnny Flores I think mine was stress induced, anyone who says ignore them must not really feel them! I take Rythm triple calm from amazon (mg taurate, mg gycinate and mg malate). And nature made magnesium oxide My bloodwork showed higher than normal level, my Dr. told me (actually nurse called about results of bloodwork including cholesterol, whole other story) and said to stop if I was taking a supplement....clearly she did not pay attention to the reason I was taking it in the first place. 🙄 I just don’t want to go back on meds

I did keto for 6 months and frankly, lost too much weight. (60lbs and kept dropping.). Keto got rid of my heart burn, it helped me sleep like a log. But the sad thing is now that i eat carbs again (not like i used to), that if i eat too heavily or too late at night, i get heart palps or a racing heart in a way i never did before. Something changed bio-chemically, after keto, that made me less tolerant to sugar when i resumed it.

Ketones are produced by the body in the absence of glucose, and puts you in a state of ketosis. Ketosis which is safe, is not to be confused with keto acidosis, which can be dangerous (this can occur if you have a medical condition that doesn’t allow your body to produce enough insulin). The keto diet can promote weight loss, improve acne, reduce risk of certain cancers, improve heart health, protect brain function, reduce seizures, improve PCOS symptoms, and reverse type 2 diabetes (and other benefits). @@willgreen77 But med school doesn't teach nutrition at a cellular level. That's why so many people are getting help from Dr. Berg after years of NOT getting help from regular docs. I told my "med school" doc about my palpitations and she said she had no idea and just wanted to put me on a beta blocker. She said "Maybe that's just normal for you?" HUH???? Terrible, terrible suggestions. Beta blockers only block me from feeling them instead of getting to the cause. I took Dr. Bergs advice and finally stopped my palps after 12 years!! Med school docs are very overrated. They go to school to learn medicine, not how nutrition affects the body at the cellular level. They are pill pushers because that's what they are taught. Give me a holistic nutrition pro like Dr. Berg any day over an MD when it comes to nutrition.

Bloating in the stomach causes stimulation of the vagus nerve to the heart and low blood pressure which causes artythmias, often from high carb dinners and msg, etc. Patients with bowel obstructions also get arrhythmia if they haven't had a bowel movement in several days and are plugged up.

There are two predominant causes of benign ectopics ...low magnesium is one ...this mineral goes hand in hand with potassium...people with low magnesium often have low potassium..people with low potassium often have low magnesium...deficiency in one causes deficiency in the other...and here's why this is so important... The heart muscle has the highest requirement in the body for magnesium ..especially magnesium taurate. Secondly the vagus nerve shares the same pathways to digestion system and heart...so bloating...or reaction to food will trigger a response..this is why emotional upsets like bereavement and relationship endings make people avoid eating...the emotions control things via the vagus nerve.

I was having palpitations so I saw a heart doctor. I forget what he called it, so he told me to reduce my caffeine intake and start exercising 5 days a week for 30 minutes. I'm now doing 3 days a week and finally got off of pop recently. I'm going to start the Atkins diet next week.

He's recommending keto, but doesn't mention how low sodium or salt-wasting can affect the balance of your electrolytes. Keto diets will cause your body to flush out more water, sodium and other electrolytes. Having low sodium can directly affect your levels potassium and magnesium, which can mess with your heart rhythm greatly. I used to get very frequent palps, but "ate healthy" and even took magnesium regularly (whic is often recommended for heart rhythm issues). What I didn't realize was that my low-refined-sugar diet was putting me in ketosis, which was flushing sodium, and not getting enough salt was causing my body to flush out electrolytes. My heart rate used to be higher at rest, and I'd get frequent PVCs. Adding a small pinch of salt to my glasses of water, and being a little more relaxed about salting my foods really helped. I highly recommend people check out: Dr. James DiNicolantonio. Keto has been great for me, but it can definitely cause problems with heart rhythm if you do it without considering your salt intake, problem is most doctors are very wary about telling you to get more salt because of absolutely garbage epidemiological "studies" and other unsubstantiated or flat out incorrect information they have been repeating for decades, just like with cholesterol and red-meat. All you have to do is look at what doctors recommend as the "ideal" diet, and then look at the rates of ALL chronic diseases have been doing since they started recommending these diets. Most doctors know NOTHING about proper nutrition, which makes sense since they aren't actually taught nutrition.

In the back of my mind I felt like I had too much pressure coming from my stomach which was leading to some palpitations and now you helped me link them together. Today I begin I.F. weighing in at 250lbs 36 year old male at 6’1”. In my case it happened due to sort of constipation and dehydration. Slow bowel movement. And all that triggers acid reflux and eventually increase heart rate. Meal two times a day and in between 2 liters of water intake could solve this problem. No palpitation no GERD acid reflux.

I was extremely ill during April 2020 and I'll never know if it was THE virus. But I've been for so many delayed tests and finally had a scan of my gallbladder this week. I was told that there was a polyp in one of the bile ducts, but it was nothing serious. I was also told that my pituitary hormone signal to my thyroid was low, while my thyroxine levels were high - but the numbers were just inside the normal range. However, I've been 18:6 fasting for 8 months and following a pretty strict Keto regime and as things have slightly improved, I would hazard a guess that my thyroid numbers would have been well outside the safe zone all those months ago. It's frustrating because the UK health system has all but collapsed while it deals with the plague, and I'm not sure whether I have a thyroid or a gallbladder issue - or both. I suppose I better hope that fasting and Keto fix me up in the long term. Oh, I was also told that I have an extra heartbeat thrown in for good measure - but that it was nothing to worry about.

It COULD be low potassium, but then it COULD be low magnesium. A magnesium deficiency can also cause heart palpitations and it’s probably best to take an electrolyte supplement rather than just potassium or just magnesium by themselves. Also, Dr. Berg skips over caffeine and alcohol consumption even though both of these can CAUSE a depletion of these essential minerals.

great video Dr B! we see a ton of patients with this issue and yes GI problems are usually the cause, we change their diet, get them on ACV or Zypan or a gallbladder supplement, more veggies, etc and viola much better. Second big reason is stress and the adrenal/cortisol connection, very very common in today's world!

It's the Vegas nerve, which is the connection between stomach, heart and brain. Also the esophagus runs very close to the heart and in the case of a hiatus hernia, the esophageal sphincter can touch the heart.

What you say about PVCs/PACs and the digestive system makes a lot of sense and I hadn't put the two together before. I had PVCs for 15 years (which, touch wood, have stopped since I've been on keto) but I found, that lying down was something that would bring them on. Since lying down also can cause heartburn, this makes total sense!

Brilliant! Sometimes when I eat certain foods I get these palpitations with headache and a tightness on the left side of my abdomen, which I thought was kidney stone movement. It could actually be from taking excess refined white rice with meals and causing pressure in my gall bladder. I avoid wheat as well as it makes me feel like crap also. I'm already feeling better by cutting down a lot on the white rice and substituting with potatoes.

I have PVC,s every day off and on, belching gas and tremors going from my stomach and heart, terrible feeling! I told my cardiologist what was going on, he said one has nothing to do with the other, but I know my body! He told me I have an abnormal heart beat, increased my atenolol,and put me on acid reducers, I still have the PVC,s when skip the acid pill....Dr Berg thank you for this video!

I drink purified water mixed with cream of Tartar which is loaded with potassium and Himalayan pink salt with 84 trace minerals through out the day. I feel great and have no hunger issues. I also drink apple cider vinegar with a whole lemon in the morning and at night before i go to bed. You do this and you will drop weight big time. Another great video Dr. Berg! You are AWESOME!

I discovered an Asian teacher, who taught me heart massage (always clockwise), tapping, and light cupping. (I'm working on a blood pressure thing.) My blood pressure, went down, significantly and immediately. And, for some reason, I felt a warm sense of well being. Can anyone explain this? Thanks.

I also have racing and palpitations when I eat histamine foods, or something I react to like sulfites. Also, if I have a tiny burp, I get a palpitation as it comes up my esophagus, so it makes sense.

Too much sugar and caffeine may cause this too . Metoprolol will help talk to a cardiologist about this . Have a Heart Stress Test and Echocardiogram.

I was on Keto and got derailed for a few months during my ivf process. I have palpitations after I eat carbs and sweets. I have anxiety as well. I do not feel good during these times. I am slowly getting back to keto again and I can feel the difference. I feel much calmer and no palpitations after a meal; i feel lighter and no bloat.

These are all good tips. I want to include hydration. If you don't have enough water, your blood will thicken and become more viscous. Thus, harder to pump.

I heard that the Vegas nerve wraps around the esophagus and when there's digestive issues, the stress on the nerve can cause the heart to slow down.

Almost everytime I eat commercial made bread I have heartburn. When I eat keto I have no problem. I do practice intermittent fasting, and have most of my life. I was not raised eating more than one or 2 meals a day, and thankfully my mother did not believe in snacks, so no chips, cookies, candy or soda. We mostly ate keto even though it wasn't called that. We literally never ate pasta or rice, bread was available to us, but I didn't like it much, and although we liked sweets they were a very rare treat. The point is we were all thin! When snacking and the low fat high carb diet became popular in the 1970's that's when people put on weight and started gaving health problems. If snack food and fast food companies were to go away, we would see a return to healthy lifestyles.

You are so correct. I was raised on a "government commodities diet." We were very poor. We (5 kids) would get a big box once a month down at the Armory. Two kids are dead, and we 3 survivors are now close to 70. So it wasn't so bad.

I got rapid tachycardia and arrhythmias after consuming coconut oil and MCT's at the same time. Probably add a larger dose as well. No carbs involved! My heartbeat went up to between 150 and 185 experience no shortness of breath or tightness or pain which means given the stress test I must not have any ischemia! I took slow deep breath's and in 10 minutes to 15 minutes it slow down to about 90. I would also note that this occurred while I was sitting on the couch and I just noted feeling like my stomach flip-flopped before taking my Pulse. I did a search on it and this is indeed something that can happen!my solution was not to do MCT and coconut oil together and to make sure I used a lower dose.

I now balance my calcium, magnesium and potassium supplement intake. But when I was having heart palpitations I new it was an electrolyte imbalance. So, I noticed my magnesium to calcium ratio was incorrect( to much magnesium) and I backed down slightly on the magnesium and my heart palpitations, which are extremely annoying, went away!!!

I've just recently started having runs of palpitations that also end up causing heart rate in 40's & 50's. I can't seem to pinpoint a specific trigger tho. Except maybe stress. I've got appt in the morning to discuss with my doctor. Thanks for the info.

Monitor what you eat taking notice of your potassium and Sodium levels as well. After menopause I was all of a sudden sensitive to sodium plus my hormones were all out of whack. So that’s a start for you monitor your blood pressure and write down what you eat and how much sodium and potassium is in each meal and see if you are overloading on those two.

This started happening to me after I started carnivore/ ketovore a weeks ago. (All carnivore at first but now adding a little veg/low carb seasonal fruit/or Greek yogurt sometimes at dinner.) I eat 2MAD. It got scary. Constant palpitations after eating as well as smaller 'skips" here and there througout the day. I was having a lot of diarrhea from not being able to digest the fat and meat. So I started taking digestive enzymes, Magnesium and electrolytes (ketochow and lmnt occasionally since lmnt contains stevia). I've only been taking these supplements a few days but the difference has been dramatic. The diarrhea stopped. The palpitations after eating stopped. I have felt one or two skips today. I wanted to go carnivore because I never lost weight on keto in the past. I did weeks of "chaffles"' bacon, and eggs and greens and Avocados but didn't lose. Carnivore felt great the first week or so! But carnivore depleted me of electrolytes in the second week even though I ate liver all last week. That's why I'm trying ketovore. This thing is still new to me and I'm trying so hard to figure it out but this video helped. I know I'm on the right track but may need to add some Avocado to my list of veggies!!

@Gazpacho Suave I drink a BPC in the morning, sometimes I'll have a decaf later if I feel like one, but I wouldn't recommend drinking them all the time. I find personally anyway that decaf still stimulates the feeling to drink multiple cups, and when you run out you might talk yourself into drinking some regular coffee when you don't really need it.

I've tried cutting back and even eliminating caffeine during my bouts, and that didn't help. During my dormant periods I can drink coffee and tea all day and not have any. I used to think caffeine was the cause, but not anymore.

@@michaelsmith1262 --- Each human body is so different - concerning cause and effect. One of life's great challenges is find out what does and what does not work for YOU. I have my own issues that all the advice in the world doesn't help. You have to walk your on journey of discovery and keep trying different things until you fine tune what works for you. For some it is sugar, for some it is sweeteners. I have a friend who discovered that she can only eat red meat and organs to be, and feel healthy. It's crazy man, but there it is, isn't it?

My problem was digestive to start with and I am working to fix that and as soon as I stopped taking their Stupid pills I feel so much better! I just wish every Doctor had the same training and gave the same advice...I am so stressed having to deal with heart skipping, digestive issues like IBS C , frozen shoulder and anxiety and not knowing which route to go. Some say acidic food is bad, meat is bad as it causes inflammation and cancer, eat plants only, which cause me pain. Then I hear Keto is the way, more meat and fat...I feel like I'm standing at the fork and not sure which road to take...Why does this have to be this complicated? My son is thinking of going into sport medicine and now I think why go and learn things that supposedly are hurting us. I'm beyond confused!

At 75, I started on Healthy Keto and IF 8 months ago. I have evolved to Carnivore and IF One Meal A Day with trace mineral supplementation and now off all meds, BP is low normal. I like also Dr Ken Berry’s teachings. I do need help with Natural Desiccated Thyroid and extra MSM (sulfur). I am a feeling younger every day Woman. Not really exercising yet.

My palpitations/PVCs are usually accompanied by indigestion n burping, GERD. It's worse when im running. Doing IF, taking ACV and Omega 3 seems to help control the symptoms. I may have low stomach acid from stress

My auntie was accidentally taking too much iodine in her multi vitamin. Check your vitamins. Her racing heart stopped after changing that. She is hypothyroid so she was sensitive to that vitamin. So thankful she found out why! May anyone on here also discover the answer to what is happening in their body. 🙏

Many years ago when I was suffering with gerd and swallowing way too many antacids I had an event of tachycardia so severe that I drove myself to the emergency room. There, they discovered I had a dangerously low level of potassium...somewhere around 2.5 and my heart rate was in the 150's. Frightening to say the least. I wonder what role the vagus nerve plays with regard to digestive issues and arrhythmias? Exceptional content Dr. Berg on a fascinating topic. Thank you!!🐾🎃🎃❤🎃

What an excellent question. Thank YOU for asking it. Dr. Berg's hypothetic wondering is awesome. I'd like to hear the answer to your question too. I'm hoping to get off all these drugs, and my doctor is saying he's believing I can. We only need to find the cause, and also I'm wondering why everyone is experiencing all of this with our hearts? So many young people are dying of heart issues, too, with the electrical systems.
