I have Dr. Heuschmann's book, Tug of War, and omg the entire thing is just eye opening. Sad that most people absolutely refuse to see it. Ive been telling people the wrongs that he wrotes about, and he has medical background to back it all up.

Very good and informative video! Thank you for posting! Sadly, not much has happened since 2008

Thank you, I also have his book. Sadly, some really good & correct dressage riders choose not to compete, I imagine because of the awful riding & training seen in high level competition which is rewarded again & again.

I find this fascinating but I also feel I need more guidance. It would be helpful if you noted in the split screen which horse is correct. It's probably obvious to many, but not to me, alas. The explanation with red lines is very helpful.

Hi Marnie. You can try to pause the video at different points and having a look at whether you can see which horse has the nose behind the vertical and which horse doesn’t. Which horse has the poll (the point between the ears) as the highest point and which horse is broken at the 2nd and 3rd vertebrae of the neck? Which horse is swishing the tail in frustration. And which horse is not? You might like a scientific paper called “Mouth pain in horses” by Professor David Mellor. It’s free online.

does anyone know who the good example with the american rider in the blue show coat is?
@zeitgeist51342 ай бұрын
That's Robert Dover. Competed in every Olympics from 1984 to 2004, with four team bronze medals. In 1987, Dover defeated Reiner Klimke, a six-time Olympic gold medalist, at the German Aachen Grand Prix freestyle competition. In doing so, he became the first American in 27 years to win that event. REINER KLIMKE!!! Klimke, profoundly, reverently admired in the dressage world. And Robert Dover won. Wow. Watch this 3-minute video of Klimke's 1984 gold-medal ride to see the superb, exquisite quality of Klimke's ride on Ahlerich. THAT'S the rider Dover defeated. Double-wow. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXPal4KqpLqsaMksi=Fgt6Opz38_o1yhDB

There is an epidemic of incorrect dressage training. Big moving horses take longer to become established. The horses are being breed for movement and the knowledge of training them is absent. Money is driving fashionable breeding and young horse classes pushing youngsters for the shows. Over use of the double bridle. As he says it takes upto 4 years, and yet these youngesters are "ready" in two. Colts and stallions are particularly pushed as it is a ticket to stallions fees. It's all very vulgar for what should be an art form.

HOW TO CRUSH "MODERN" DRESSAGE: Require that Olympic judges be trainers at the classical schools of dressage in Vienna, Saumur, Spain, and Portugal. That will force the World Cup and other prestigious competitions to accept the restoration of classical dressage themselves. No more medals for "Modern" dressage ANYWHERE because the Olympics will have restored the ideal.

It is obvious judges have too much of a role in the sport, like illegal betting.

ah the Gerd Heuschman we've seem pulling on the mouth of a Friesian horse.
@eponatv2 жыл бұрын
The very same. We were one of the first media outlets to publish those photos. But please explain: in what way does the Friesian photo scandal invalidate what Dr Heuschmann says in this video?
@lostdreamer94802 жыл бұрын
@@eponatv Imo it doesn’t invalidate the video. Unfortunately, it did undermine his credibility. I would suggest that people take the good from his biomechanics lectures and avoid his clinics (if he is still holding them…)
@eponatv2 жыл бұрын
@@lostdreamer9480 We’ve never featured Dr Heuschmann as a rider or a coach (except for one feature where he talked about his own bad habits) exactly because we - and he as well - were aware of Dr Heuschmann’s limitations as a practitioner. He was always up front with us about that and humble as to his abilities. We heard of the Friesian photos from him before anyone else.

Unless you know the details of that particular incident, please do not make disparaging comments, or assumptions. I know this man, personally, and know what happened with that Friesian.

@@melaniemiller9037 regardless of what happened tp the Friesian, that was a very, very bad example how not to deal with it.
