First thing Hats off to you Olivia for sticking to the end of the test and not retiring. Sausage looked absolutely stunning as you were preparing to go in, he really has that impressive, look at me, quality about him. You did everything you could to prepare him for the class but it is a partnership , and on this day the occasion got to Sausage. It’s so disappointing as you know he’s capable of doing a great test. Just to get to the finals is a big achievement. I always think a lot of the top horses have a bit of spirit about them. Your comments at the end of the video are encouraging to hear. It’s a tiny blip in the scheme of things. Concentrate on your goal of getting to Grand Prix, that’s when you are both going to shine. Thank you so much for doing the vlog.

You are so amazing, and really inspiring (which is kind of funny since you are two years my junior!). You really did ride that absolutely wonderfully, and obviously its frustrating, but you showed such grace and a beautiful balance between allowing yourself to be frustrated and not letting it define you (or Wilfred). Which is truly amazing. Like you said this just may be how he is, and sometimes he's going to have a show where he just can't keep it together, but oh man did you do great with it! Thank you for taking us on your journey with you and all of your amazing horses

So great to see you cope so well with a stressful and disappointing experience in such a positive way. Either that, or those calming cookies worked really well for you 🤣 It’s fantastic that you’re able to step back and recognise all the things you did well and to the best of your ability, whilst not stressing over things that were out of your control. You appear to be much happier in yourself and more confident. I hope that taking some time to yourself is something you keep incorporating into your routine so that you can stay in a good head space.

Olivia doesn't have any money worries ... she can fall back on her parents largesse. Economic stressors can prevent lots of riders from fulfilling their dreams and from being able to indulge in a wonderful equestrian lifestyle like Olivia . She has a perfect environment to pursue her dressage dreams on the beautiful lifestyle property her parents own ... equipped as it is with an indoor arena, stable block, turn out paddocks and huge horsetruck with all the bells and whistles. She doesn't have to work a 9 - 5 job (non-equine related obviously) like most other young adults ... and it is only through her parents wealth that she has managed to gear up for life as a 'professional' equestrienne. Branding herself and monetising her channel is on the back of all that. What a lucky young woman ... so I find her vlogs a wee bit self indulgent, navel-gazingesque and out of touch with the realities of trying to ride and own horses and compete without the safety net and incredible practical support of someone like her Mother. (does she have a 9 - 5 job that is not her equine business I wonder? I doubt it ) That help, along with the total economic support of both her parents facilitated by their hard graft who, without question, have made enough money to enable her to pursue her equine dreams without the hard economic realities of life interfering, make Olivia's concerns seem very adolescent and angst-ridden. It is hard not to be jelly ... I had to sell my horse because my parents couldn't afford to keep him and I had been horsemad since I was 6. Lived and breathed it ...

@@lizsteeds6697 we're all born into families with different material means and we face different challenges in life. A child born into poverty and starvation would be endlessly grateful to be given your life or mine, even if our parent couldn't afford a horse for us. 🙂
@Poetessa24 жыл бұрын
@@lizsteeds6697 I do see your point and also can sadly relate all too well to financial issues affecting my riding growing up, it sucks and sadly that can and often does destroy dreams. I always had to work 3 times as hard as the 'wealthy kids' who had super expensive dream horses. But all that did was instill in me the need to work harder with more drive to achieve my goals, I never resented them, though. They were my friends and I was happy for them. However, Olivia takes the time to share parts of her life in her vlogs. She shares her personal pain, trials and tribulations and victories which I commend her for, even if some people may not think her pain is justified because her family has money, pain is always justified, it's universal. I don't care how much a person has, it will never make someone truly happy, nor will it make all life's troubles disappear. I should know, I was married to a very wealthy monster for 15 years!! And it was hell but it looked SOOOOO good from the outside. Lots of jealousy and nastiness there!! And MANY women ("friends") criticized me for not shutting up and being content with the mansion and the sports cars etc. There are much more important things in life. I commend her for opening up and putting herself out there on social media as she does, that takes a lot of courage, clearly. And I was truly shocked saddened when she shared that she gets attacked with nasty comments. What the hell is wrong with people?? What has she done to them to deserve the wrath of the trolls? Other than perhaps being a better rider than all the critics. Why can't people be supportive? Would it be so hard to offer a kind word or two? Words actually can affect people on a very deep level, even from strangers on the internet. I've been there myself too many times and it sucks. Jealousy is such a destructive emotion that serves no good purpose, ever. There will always be those with so much more than you and I, richer, prettier, younger, more talented etc and we can be angry and, or jealous toward those more fortunate which only succeeds in damaging others and ourselves. Or we all could try being sincerely grateful for all we do have, which is so much more than far too many in the world. Some people dream of having clean, running water, or food or a roof over their heads. It's all about perspective. And to genuinely try being happy for her, that she is one of the lucky ones able to pursue her dreams, in a unique position to be able to focus all her attention on her riding. I can honestly say she's living my lifelong dream and I don't feel one ounce of jealousy, I am genuinely thrilled for her. And why not her?? She deserves every bit of it. She works so hard and puts everything she has into her passion without taking it for granted and she's entitled to her bad days too, we all are. I too could be very jealous and bitter, I'm too sick to ride, I'm too sick to pursue the acting and filmmaking career that I worked so hard for. And I'm often too sick to have much of a personal or social life any more. Some days I struggle just to get out of bed, but when I do, I'm grateful. Other days I'm fighting for my life and when I win, I'm so grateful. But I can't afford to waste my energy on bitterness, anger or jealousy for every healthy person, or every person succeeding at one of my passions, especially those who get to ride every day, what I wouldn't do to be able to just do that!! This is her personal channel and she shares snippets of her life because she enjoys it and because there are many who are sincerely interested and supportive of her. If you have such feelings of animosity for her that compelled you to write your comment then perhaps you shouldn't watch her videos. But if you choose to, you should really think about keeping your toxic negativity to yourself. I say this not be mean or argumentative but in all sincerity, absolutely nothing good or positive can ever come of it and it''s hurtful. She has even opened up and shared how upset she gets when people write negative comments about her on social media. To me, it seems you are just trying to be hurtful out of spite and honestly, she doesn't deserve that and no one wants to read it. It doesn't cost a dime to be kind yet so many choose to be nasty but it's easy on the internet and it's like a plague. And also, it's not like she acts like one of the mindless, self-absorbed, narcissistic, talentless Kardashian twits flaunting their obscene wealth in everyone's face because that's all they've got going for them. Olivia comes across sweet, endearing, funny, humble, sensitive, grateful, and extremely talented. A few kind words can do wonders. I didn't say all this to pick a fight nor to upset you, I just felt compelled to share my thoughts on this matter. I didn't mean to write a novella. Kindest regards,

I have been there honestly. An armature national dressage champ. I was so proud with how my young horse got there and handled it. We came last in the whole comp on like a 58% but it was an awful test. There will be loads of “bad comps” sometimes all we see are others successes but in the horse world that just isn’t realistic at all. It is a massive growth to recognise your own achievements and compare yourself to your last self not others. I can’t tell anyone out there enough how good it feels to genuinely be able to do that (not kidding yourself that you’re doing it) and when the first place does eventually come it is great but your self pride as a result of your own growth purely overules that. It is a process but it is beyond worth it. Well handled Olivia. I thought it was a stunning test 💖

Honestly, your riding during that test was some of the best I’ve ever seen. You kept your cool, rode it out, and were tactful enough to get him back to finish the test. To me, that is the mark of a great horsewoman. If you talked to all of the Olympians in the world, each would recount days when their horses blew up, too. It’s how the rider handles it that counts. You were spectacular. Seriously.

Well done Olivia, lovely to see you’re still smiling. I took my new thoroughbred to our first show last Sunday and it was a complete car crash, he was so excited and even cantered sideways out of the arena at one point. Needless to say we came last but I genuinely didn’t care, I had a blast at my first comp in 20yrs and we made it round safely and happily. The judge said well done and that I rode well despite the mishaps and I was so happy with us that I cried! It’s not always about winning or being perfect it’s about enjoying your time, learning and achieving your personal goals. Thank you for still vlogging this. X

Not so much negative, more realistically making the best of a bad situation. Horses and competitions are expensive and unpredictable, you can't always win and sometimes it does feel like flushing money away. We see the support Olivia gets from her mum in every vlog, there's no need to focus on 5 seconds of a 33 minute vlog and make others feel bad with a negative comment.

I'm sorry things didn't turn out better at the show. I suppose it just wasn't meant to be that day. You did a superb job in handling your horse and the situation. Horses are funny creatures, they have minds and ideas of their own, and sometimes it's like they have to play that one particular joke on you at the wrong time. Keep working with him, he's fantastic looking, with a beautiful expressive face. I know that you will make it back to those Nationals again, and will do better. Keep building your confidence, don't forget that that is one thing that you do transmit to your horse, so he feels it as well. I've never shown Dressage, always have wanted to learn to do it, but I rode Western pleasure. My horse always seemed to know when I was a bit unsure of myself on a particular day, and that's always when he decided he was going to have some fun and make me look silly trying to keep my composure. Silly horses! But you can't help but to love them to their very souls. Keep up the great work, and hope to see your next video again of you at the Nationals placing way higher in the levels. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Olivia, I saw your video, and I like to give you a little advice, if you don't mind, don't do big thinks and complicated things, just do the basic correctly with minimum effort, and light hands to bring the horse to maximum relaxation mentally, for maybe one or more months, until the horse is really supple mentally, just play with him, he must tell you I want to do this, and then bring the Dressage Play into it, maybe for few steps, and then long reins for reword and relaxation. like that until he will do all of it. The most important think with any kind of riding, is for the horse to be 100% Happy, Relax, and Fit, Good Luck.
