Thank you very much, I am in nursing school and this video showed me what too do pertaining to wound care. Please continue with these videos by sharing your knowledge as we are barely learning in school, some teachers lack the eagerness to teach us leaving us clueless😢! I highly respect your time to share your experience and skills.❤

Oof, I was not expecting that at 5:43. This video definitely makes me have a lot more respect for medical professionals. I get that they go through a lot of training that conditions them to see various medical issues but I can't say I'm confident that I'd be able to do this kind of work, especially under pressure. Thank you for this educational video.

Outstanding, as a young man or boy, I was an orderly in a large hospital in Phila Pa.at the time I was in High school, so after school, I would go to the hospital for a whole form of class all over again, almost the same your instruction, but I can remember RNs who specialized in certain types of wounds, burns, punctures, crush, Ulcers (punctures?). I can remember it like yesterday, also the nurse would have a cart, she would dress the wound, and I would set up traction, then in some cases would set up a little tent, and then she would use a sunlamp on the wound for may-be an hour, then she would return, take down the tent, bandage the wound, check the traction and on to the next patient, Now this is a bad night for me because I didn't understand just how dangerous these wounds were. I just hated that gown and gloves, but I learned and never forgot. For some patients I would place a wooden ramp covered with pillows in the bed, other we used tractions, anyway it seems like all wounds had to be elevated, and checked daily. Enough this is what we did 60yrs. ago. You did real good, I was with you the whole time, at the end the silver thingie? For infection?............BB

Okay, sorry if i come off strange here im just really stressing bc this is happening like, now. my mom, she's got a bad back and has been basically in bed for years after a surgery gone wrong ( like in essence ) and is waiting for another surgery, this one a spinal fusion, in two months. Which worries me more bc shell be in bed then too and idk how hard it'll be on moving (bed sores) She called me crying almost 1 week ago... saying that she developed bed sores.i had no idea what that was, so I did some research and have been trying to get her in with a Dr. Bc idk what stage and I'm no dr.. And I haven't been able to get to her but am finally tmw, and am gonna stay awhile and take care.. or try. Anywayto. I'd sent her a link to order these pads with that silver stuff, like medical pads... ... not realizing the entire pad was like the sticky part of a bandaid. She ordered them and just called me crying saying that she went to take them off before washing .. And they ripped out or off the what I'm guessing is the scab or top of the sore She talked of how bad the water stung. I feel terrible and I'm really scared I desperately need advice on what exactly to use to elevated her bc she hurts so bad down her left side, that she can't lay on it, and what meds to use, and just what to do Until I can get her in with a Dr. Please help, if you or anyone has any ideas or information on this or experience God bless

Hey my dear@@ThatChick90X2 I, feel so sorry for you because I understand what you are putting up with. When dealing with sores that will not heal it bombs away, meaning a full attack. Am I a Doctor, Nurse, or work in the medical field no, I, 'm a retired Marine, TT Driver, and Farmer, So what I tell you I learned with my eyes and hands. Please try to understand, that you have to treat the whole body, starting with the Blood, is she lacking anything or too many metals, is she deficient in vitamins, or low in zinc, anything the Blood will not lie, the diet, is she eating properly, my-be her food will not allow he to heal, or fluid intake, check the water, also the bedding, bed and her night clothing, are they clean and free of pathogens, so in other words, You need a NURSE, everything that I said is ground zero for her. Yes that silver bandage is top-of-the-line but her medications, may be going down the toilet, she needs her meds by I V, and the Nurse will train you on how to administer the meds, and change the bandages, and here is a big thing, NO dogs & cats their coats carry all types of little critter we can talk about another time. You need help now, I have lost faith in Doctors, They lie, cheat, and steal more than anyone, and they will never tell the truth, even against a quack, that everyone knows has harmed someone, I pray that that is not your case. So good luck, if I knew your name I would pray for you tonight, you take care and remember that you are not alone, see yea BB

My dad just has what looks like a open blister. I just need to know the best way to clean, medicate and cover it to keep it from becoming as bad as this demonstration. As of now it's not quite the size of a dime. He's able to walk and get up and down but he's diabetic and I want to be sure I'm using the proper treatment. The Dr told me to get the transparent bandages but didn't say anything about putting any antibiotic creams on it. I did that but he will not leave it alone. Help!

So just bandaid changes? No debridement? Mixed advice. Some say keep the wound moist, some say keep it dry. What do you do when it a senior with poor circulation and slow wound healing? The hospital mom has been in and out of has caused this. and i dod not think they are caring for it properly. Plus they have now not given her a shower or proper bath in 3 months. I don't want to imagine the bacteria built up all over her skin. And they keep wanting to send her home with me alone where she gets even worse care as im alone and recovering from lung cancer surgery. Im her medical agent and her guardian and they refuse to listen to me at all and mess with her medications without telling me. In stead of giving her better pain meds for her many healing broken bones and sore they chose to double her prednisone, we had been trying to get her off of and the reason why she has so many broken bones and sores. This hospital if killing my mom. They have turned her into a bed ridden oile of mush whos in so much pain she cant lift her arms to feed herself. But giving her stronger pain meds seems to be out of the question.

I'm concerned that daily saline moist gauze is demonstrated in this video as there is a wealth of information that shows daily dressings, saline moist gauze dressings are not cost effective, painful, delay wound healing, can increase the risk of infection, and are not best practice. Why is gauze the dressing of choice for this instructional video versus the gelling fiber and silicone foam border? This choice would maintain a moist environment, support autolytic debridement, decreases contamination of the wound as it lasts longer, seals on all sides, offers less pain and trauma for the patient, and overall is more cost effective and patient centered.
@jeanduboise99082 жыл бұрын
Before reading your comment, my choice leaned toward the ge fiber and the silicone. My son cannot speak and classified so non responsive. But I see the pain on his face and in his eyes as he is traumatize with the dressing change. Thanks for your comment. It was insightful.

Hi Jean, if I may ask, what Gelling product do you recommend? Your Spot on regarding the saline/gauze pressure wound care! I have been searching desperately for how to videos and best options. My mum has a level 4 decubitus coccyx pressure wound and it's just getting worse. The saline gauze option is awful, sets you up for failure, a tremendous amt of sleepless nights and helplessness/guilt. My heart is breaking. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Sincerely J.

@@leeluv96 So sorry about ur mom, I totally feel ur pain. If I had to do this again I would've proactively padded her elbows, heels, ankles, shoulder blades, and most importantly the coccyx area and rotating her every two hrs! I never realized that sitting her up to watch tv and catering to her every need was putting pressure on her sacrum and preventing her blood flow, causing deterioration / necrosis of her sensitive skin. In my Opinion Hospice sets u up for failure and I regret agreeing to their services. They literally just bring supplies and take vitals and stand by while u finish killing ur mom. It has been a heartbreaking nightmare. In retrospect I would have requested a wound care nurse and home care. I know now I can't do this alone and would request all the help available through home care. I am now using Aquacel adhesive foam and Aquacel Extra gelling to pack moms level 4 wound. This is what I use to protect her pressure points in advance. Gosh I hope this helps doll.
