That skirt looks very practical - the length won't get in your way, or get too muddy, and even the bustle adds a lot of fullness, which means it won't get in the way of walking or running. It might catch on branches, though.

I noticed two things within the first minute: 1. You never seem to habe a button hook when you need it. 2. Your smile while putting on stripy stockings. Its cute and fun and just what my expression was upon seeing those 😆

I love waistcoats too-there was a shop called Droopy and Browne -they had really long line waistcoats in all sorts of tweeds-to be worn with long skirts, I loved them , I think that was the 90's-1990 not 18 or 17!! love your videos xx

Lovely ensemble. Love how the corset provides the perfect foundation to show off the waistcoat. Boy am I glad I don't have buttons to deal with when I dress for work...I'd never be on time!😁

Buttons are also the bane of my existence. My wedding dress had it down most of my back. A mistake I have never made since. However they do look very smart on your hunting dress. Is your next video using a black cat accessory? I enjoy that particular accessory very much.

Interesting , how we often forget that upper-class women of that era were, in fact, quite active and "sporty", just as women from the lower-classes did, indeed, work very hard in often physically demanding jobs. Not what any could term as 'fainting couch shrinking violets' types ...

@user-oj5bw7sl8p
@user-oj5bw7sl8p 4 жыл бұрын
@saitar1337 In addition to all mentioned by you above, people in 19 century had very poor diet. Working women&men in England often just ate bread (sometimes with a little bit of jam or dripping) and drunk tea through the day. Rich ladies&gentlemen, to the opposite, ate enormous amount of different dishes, consisting of lots of meat, fat, sugar,- and very little fiber, which kept them permanently constipated and caused many serious diseases. Corsets, which were pressing on the stomach, did not help to improve the digestion either. Also, if a lady wanted to be fashionable,- and most of them did wanted to be fashionable! - they laced their corsets (with the help of maids, of course) comparably tight. Which meant increased pressure on the lungs,- which, after a while, was resulting into pulmonary congestion. It, in turn, was "opening the door" to problems with breathing and also created a base for development of different pulmonary diseases. Bacterias&viruses were thriving in squeezed lungs, where the proper ventilation was compromised. Also, pulmonary congestion was one of the factors, playing role in the cases of acute heart failure. In order for the corset not to cause any health issues, it had to be laced very loose. It's also necessary to remember, that many girls were wearing corsets from the tender age of 5, and their lungs never had a chance to fully develop. Maids or older relatives, who were lacing the corsets for the kids, often did not pay much attention to the child's comfort and wishes, and laced as tight, as - according to adult opinion - would be "proper".
