It was a mind boggling decision by Allar. The dig route he threw to was well covered. The DB was pretty much running the route for the receiver, and Drew threw it anyway. The only way he could've made it work is if he short-armed the throw(db was on receiver's outside hip) and let his receiver come back to the ball and sort of box out the DB and hope he catches it or it's just an incompletion, but he threw the ball to him like it was a wide open play and credit has to go to that corner, because he made a hell of a play to pick that ball off with the diving snag. Allar sort of has garnered a reputation for making good decisions over this season and not making those kinds of throws, the announcers had commented on that point of fact multiple times throughout the game. That's why I couldn't believe he threw it lol. I get it, big moment, intense pressure... some guys are made for it and some guys aren't, and this is still just a kid who's not even old enough to drink. The reality is, Allar played pretty poorly the entire game, the interception at the end that sealed it was just the capstone of a bad night for him. Hate it for him, it's a heartbreaker because Penn State had every right to win this game, I don't know why they didn't stick with what had got them there which was the running game between their 2 backs(ND had no real good answers for it)... had plenty of time to run the clock down and potentially have your FG attempt be the last play of the game. Unfortunately for Drew, this one is gonna stick with him for the rest of his life.

I've been a penn state football fan for a long time. And the fan base is finally figuring out just exactly who the head coach of james franklin is for penn state. He's living up to his reputation now, "Big Game James". And believe me it's not because there is more talent amongst The players at notre dame. It's because of superior coaching, preparation & strategy. Good Penn state Football players like Will Levis 2 years ago, and only a few weeks ago back up quarterback Probula, make the right decision And leave The penn state football program because they are not treated fairly. Such treatment would have never have happened under joe paterno. With a Joe Paterno Penn state football team, those Notre dame short passes and a running quarterback that resoundingly beat Penn Srate yesterday would have been stopped cold. 12 years in and Penn state's James Franklin cannot, and in my prediction will not, ever break the top 4 college football teams in the nation because he doesn't have the capability. The head coach of penn state football is more concerned about getting to a bowl And filling the stadium. He has some of the best players in college football, but his team will never be a top 4 team in the nation. The passing reception play designs are wholly inadequate as evidenced by the fact that not a single wide receiver had a reception in the entire game. Why? Incompetent passing design plays did not allow outstanding Penn State wide receivers to get free. Notre dame won by superior coaching and preparation;passing at will to wide open receivers behind the PSU linebackers along with the Notre Dame quarterback running at will throughout the second half; completely unstopped by the defense of Penn state. The second half again was proof exactly who james franklin is as a head football coach for penn state; Big Game James.

If you think you can walk away from a loss in a college football playoff game and be happy just because you make millions, you're very mistaken. Feelings run high in college football, just like in highschool. Nah, you wanna see some greed and no heart to win? Go to the NFL for that. This guy is young, he knows he made a mistake, and he wishes he could take it back. Maybe put yourself in someone else's shoes...or cleats. But you most likely don't understand what it's like because you haven't been remotely close to being in his situation. I hope not all Notre Dame fans are this ignorant.

To me everything changed when back up QB Steve Angeli came into the game. For that one drive he exposed the Penn State secondary and while the Irish only scored 3 points it laid the ground work for the ND coaching staff to make adjustments in the second half. If Coach Franklin had Beau Pribula in some of those 3rd and short situations the outcome of this game would have been different. Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic season and best of luck to the Irish on the upcoming Championship game.

It's not Allar's fault. He never should have been put in that situation. RUN THE BALL STUPID. When they had 3rd and 3, they should have run the ball for the first down. Instead they passed. Not even play action, against the 4th ranked pass defense. At least make them think you might be running on 3rd and short. Then, on the potential game winning drive, why are they throwing downfield when they didn't complete one pass to a WR all night. Why try THEN? RUN THE BALL STUPID. Sorry, but Allar does not have NFL potential...so on a potential game winning drive, keep it simple. ND wasn't doing a good job at stopping the run at all. Why throw it downfield against a top 4 pass defense?? Every single big game you just wait for the game deciding moment when Franklin will shoot himself in the foot. It's inevitable. I went into that game last night knowing that there will be a defining moment where the game will be decided by buffoonery. He NEVER fails to deliver. NEVER

Penn State gave up. On that last drive around the three minute forty seconds left when it was fourth and one they punted. No way would they recover from that. You didn’t give your team a chance, my gosh this is for the national championship meet. If you didn’t make it you still had time to recover. Instead you gave up the ball, lost precious time and when you got the ball back you were rushing with hardly anytime left to try to score and gave up the int. Should have let it go into O.T.
