Drew visits Britain's biggest private home where he is stumped on negotiations, finds some cool head carvings and discovers the actual tartan of Elvis Presley.
Drew Pritchard, the owner of one of the UK's largest decorative salvage yards, is always on the lookout for new items to replenish his stock, and he has no qualms about scouring the countryside for them. This series follows Drew as he searches for old and lost pieces of history throughout the world, including some opulent estates. But locating them is only half the battle; Drew must persuade the owner of each object to sell it to him for a good price, and then it's off to the scrap yard, where his team restores it to its former glory before selling it for profit.

The three painted wood pieces look amazingly simular to three of the Marx Brothers harpo,Groucho, chico.....and I think you were spot on when you said they were done by recovering soldiers.

At 24:50 I believe that the three carved heads are The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack... icons of an American Automotive Aftermarket retail chain that was founded in Philadelphia in 1921... They have iconographic images that resemble these carvings.

From AU I admire Drew, he is very honest, has respect for peoples attachment to things and as in the example of the sample books he isn't a pillager he has huge respect for history. I've only met one dealer who came close when I asked the true value of a marble top, walnut chest of drawers from a steam ship, I got a true valuation, As Drew continues on he will find a ready welcome pretty much anywhere,

I wonder what Drew would have thought if he had seen Wentworth Woodhouse in 1947 with a hideous, vindictively instigated opencast coal mine (of the most useless brown coal) in the front lawn - absolute cultural and social desecration, absolutely ruined a once prosperous thriving estate and decent employer, From House & Heritage, by David Poole: " There was little doubt that the National Trust proposal had been rejected by Manny Shinwell himself, as he had also rejected a plan by Mr Joseph Hall, president of the Yorkshire Mineworkers’ Association, to obtain the coal by other methods. The miners themselves, conscious of their local inheritance, had pledged themselves, to no avail, to make good the loss if the scheme could be abandoned. Their pleas fell on deaf-ear, but Shinwell was able to appease them by considering a speedy restoration of the land and possible financial assistance..." Right... And they believed a politician. And, aye, don't think it couldn't happen again. How the present owner will ever restore the poor place to its rightful glory I can not imagine - just hope the Restoration Gods are with him...

Haggis herds that look like dachshunds with hedgehog faces, huh. Even this Murrican wouldn't fall for that one. Might even eat it, but not in a posh presentation like that! (Makes me wonder: would stuffing haggis into Cornish pasty pastry count as fusion food? ) My guess on the three heads: Roosevelt, Churchill and..... Stalin?

I worked in retail and sales. This guy buys way to little to even have a show compared to others that spend up to 30 thousand in one visit in real life. This show is just too boring to watch people who don't want to sell a thing, but just want publicity for their own gain. At least I know where NOT to shop!

This is an earlier season - you can see his buying style change over the years. Now he is trying not to buy too many things. When he was really just starting out he'd buy way too much junk. He's quite willing to take things and restore them. In his later shows he's much quicker at buying and he buys several things at a time. He avoids things to restore, which eats all the profit. There is no way he'd have a guy spend a day repolishing an incubator cabinet.

When Tilers built an ornate tiled floor, there was always one fault built into the construction. It had nothing to do with entertaining children. It was to pay homage to God, to show that no man was perfect, because only God is perfect. So these guys are "antique experts" and no one actually knows this?????. Giant face roll. Anyone who studies architecture knows this. I'm not even religious and I know this... sheesh. Bit of a let down when Drew pretends to be an "expert" and stumbles on a really easy fact.
