The thing about the trains in the states is that, in my opinion, they really aren't that feasible. At least in most parts of the U.S. Maybe in states that have alot of people, and certain areas where there are big cities. A little inconvenient fact for Americans: Philippines fought a war of independence after the fall of Spanish empire, where Americans killed 1M out of 8M Philippines. There is a Mr. Beat video about this.

Technically the Filipinos fought the Spanish first, then the Americans. Also, it’s not really inconvenient, most Americans are well aware of the (some of them, there are quite a few) wars that caused the country’s westward expansion. A good number of those wars were against the earlier inhabitants, and it’s not surprising that the US would fight a war to keep a colony especially after the U.S civil war.

Else if you wanted them as a "protectorates" so that they don't fall into "wrong" hands, all the Japanese colonization would be justified as western colonizers were killing local culture while pillaging everything. So its an inconvenient fact then, afterall? Personally as an Indian, the allied side gets off way too easily for their horrible colonial crimes they committed in Asia for like 2 centuries. For instance, Churchill's policies deliberately caused a deadly famine in the Bengal province of India which starved off over 3 million people right in the middle of WW2. This province was about the size of Japan approximately. So for the local people, some faraway London ruler's policies caused as much deaths as Japan suffered in their whole WW2 campaign!

in regards to the solar eclipse... its a cosmic coinkidink that the Sun is 400x farther from the Earth than the Moon... but the Moon is also 400x smaller than the Sun, and since the Moon has been getting closer and closer for millenia its only been in the last million years or so that this has been a noticeable thing, and eventually it will stop happening (granted it will still be partial eclipses til the time when the Sun swallows up the Earth at the end of its life).
