Drew, having too many territories compared to states causes corruption to skyrocket. That's why Russia didn't do that well: they don't have very many possible states at the start of the game but a ton of territory, so... probably have a shit ton of corruption

yeah but having high corruption reduce rebels, i played with oirat and formed yuan i got corruption of 20 or 30 had 0 rebels couldnt do shit just attack :D

The problem with such a large Nation in this early game is that due to low technology they cannot state every province leading to high corruption, which means expensive power costs. Or if the AI pays off corruption at a high rate that heavily damages their income and therefore their army. Not only that unstated land is essentially useless unless it's charter companied

Yeah the reason i never play as Muscovy -> Russia is rebellions and land mass wise are an absolute pain. The units take FOREVER to move from province to province and then of course Siberia is Siberia, attrition is deadly... Thats why my favorite places to play as are more Spain, Venice, Austria, basically any country with great development concentrated in key provinces
