Aussie here: The Referendum was hectic. It was a great idea, to have indigenous representation and a voice in parliament on policies that would end up affecting indigenous people. But, just like most things, the pro-voice side were incredibly vague on their promises and planning, and those against it were acting like the world was gonna end if we did end up voting it in.

I'm from West Australia (WA) about 4-6 months before the referendum they passed an Aboriginal heritage law. Which basically made it impossible for you to rebuild your fence outside the Perth and Peel region was so badly written that it was repealed quickly. It left a real bad taste in people's mouths. The federal government then made the same statements and promise in the voice referendum no one wanted that again. That's some context for why WA said no

I wouldn't say the Pound and the Dong are doing badly, it's just that the US dollar has been doing amazing for a while now. If you compare the USD to absolutely any other currency, they look like they're going down.
