As a Polish person, I do not need to even show passport until Turkey-Iran border anymore. In Iran, Pakistan and India you just get the visa online, very quick and easy albeit not super cheap. Neither country is really particularly dangerous in most regions in 2024. However, several areas in Pakistan/Iran and Pakistan/India border areas are in the danger zones, but that is manageable to research and take precautions for. I visited India 6 times already in the last few years and felt very safe. I also want to note in the last few years Iran secularized like crazy and people became far more tolerant of non-muslims.

Its fully legal to drink alcohol but not buy it in said county basically. they dont want people buying it there bc usually the places with the most alcohol sales has more petty crime like drunk driving and accidents, kinda like nashville TN, Memphis, etc. but its not the same across the board. depends on the culture of the people drinking and how they drink ig
