This type of nordic folk pop (?) and just "pagan" music in general is quite popular among metalheads because the elements feel familiar. Many of the bands' members even started out playing black metal like Einar of Wardruna who played in Gorgoroth for a while. They're also often signed to labels usually associated with metal. Eivør is signed to Season of Mist for example. You'll often see these bands playing at huge metal festivals even

This is beautiful, added straight to my playlist, gonna have to listen to more of this. Solid 9/10 Also, not sure if you take reccomendations through youtube, but if you do, Valiant Hearts - Odyssey is an incredible post-hardcore album that's been in my top 3 for years, and Burn the Rez - Isolation is an alt-rock album that I can easily say is my favorite album ever, half of the songs bring me to fuckin tears every time I listen to them

Hi man, you seem to be very perceptive reactor. Liked your reaction and commentary. This is one of their simpler melodies, less original for me (together with The State of the World). But these songs need not to be superoriginal and still have the unmistakable Kalandra something in them (and Katrine). The new album is a bit different, I agree, but I haven't listened to it so much yet, so it might really grow on me.

I can't believe, you have not reacted to any AURORA yet. I consider Kalandra to by one of my favourite bands, only topped by Aurora. Especially as you seem to like slow, moody songs, Aurora is the queen. She has four albums out, tens of unreleased songs, hundreds of live performances, tons of interviews, and not one of them is bad or mediocre. You wanna a christmas song by her? You can try this sweet two song performance, especially the second song - Stjernestov - is gorgeous.
