Bro, I hate how everyone thinks shit is 30%+ or that they only smoke 30 out here in L.A. when I’ve been telling them for years the results are buffed. I’ve worked for a couple different brands and I’ve seen them do things to get higher scores. THC isn’t the be all, end all that everyone thinks it is because they’re buying shit that claims 35%% when it’s really 22-24% or less. Stores and the brands they carry are always at war with each other because a store in today’s market will often reject any order from a distribution center that’s under 30% because the idiots who buy the weed at their store are convinced it has to be 30% yet they buy products that in reality aren’t. It drives me nuts.

Yo great video! Having been smoking since the 1970's I tell fellow smokers find the terps that work the best for your needs and follow that. Thc % is a good starting point but not the most important. 22% Thc with 2.5-3% terps is much more effective than say Bud at 28% with 1% terps.

Look at the water activity for dryness - it should be around 0.6 - with overdrying there can be loss of terpenes and thc. Some of the low testing bud was also very dry 0.4 water activity or less.

I read an article when I was growing that stated a cannabis plant cannot produce anymore than 31% thc in the flower, it cannot go above that. I doubt there are any growers that can produce flower that is consistently at the threshold of 31% which is why we seldom see flower above 27-28% max.

It's actually about 34% but yeah anyone claiming over 30 is probably screwing the results. I've been growing 20 years and I've only had 3 strains I have ever consistently tested over 30 and it was only 30, 31 and 31.2 as my highest tested.

They send in the best buds from each plant and cover them with kief. That's how they reach 30+ with stuff that's 25 at most. Also, some labs are paid to play, meaning if you pay more, they give better test results.

just so you know the reason the cali bud is rated so high is because what they do is they send a top cola that has the highest thc content to the whole plant as you go down the plant the nugs get less potent so when they claim is 30% yes its true but only one nug on the whole plant hit 30% because they test 3 to 4 nugs of each strain and use the highest rated nug and they round up so if its 25.6% they say 26%

While they definitely do botch alot of thc percentage numbers, high THCa strains convert into cbn pretty quickly. So if you got a pack with a harvest date from 3 months ago, it wouldnt to far fetch to believe it would lose around 5 - 8 percent in conversion and degradation.

It's very cool to precisely verify and all...but in the end isn't it just about wether or not you enjoy them and make you feel good....my favorite drink or coffee isn't necessary the highest in alcohol caffeine content...for me personally flavor is almost everything, a huge part in the experience ofcourse coupled with the effect I am chasing....sometimes these measurements actually makes the conclusion more shallow instead more in depth

Just a reminder the 1% variance applies to the total thc. So if you have 20% thc with a 1% variance it can be as low as 18% and as high as 22%.

Since the 30% can't have the same terpene profile than the 15%, I'd prefer the 15. Why? The accumulation of rosin comes in different stage than the terpenes I'm looking for. So, even though it might have had 30% at some point, by the time the terpene profile is fully developed, it's closer to 15 than 30. Also, 30% gives you hangover with all kinds of ups and downs. 11%-17% with a ripe profile gives a good and manageable tool to use all day every day and it doesn't completely mess up tolerances and motor skills. 30% 5g a day makes you a zombie with unbelievable cotton mouth and munchies, not very sustainable condition. The psychoactive compounds are the catalyst, the amplifier, but the signal, the cause for the effect comes from the aromatic compounds, terpenes. Terpenes are somewhat genetic, but mostly environmental. Nutrients/soil, climate and light.

Changing your mind on THC % isn’t that important. Good to educate the masses. Im sick of trying to explain my dispensary customers who ask for high THC flower that isn’t the most important. I make them smell the flower and if they like the terps it’s usually a good effect for each person. I know in many dispensaries customers aren’t allowed to smell the flowers and that’s not good.
