The bass is Geoff Castellucci, and he has his own channel. His newest one High and Dry showcases his amazing range, and he plays the piano. Some of my favorite VoicePlay videos are, The Little Mermaid Medley, Moana Medley, Oogie Boogie's Song, Tennessee Whiskey, TRAPPED: Billie Eilish In 3 Minutes, KISS | Prince A Cappella, and Warriors. There are many more great ones, but that's my short list.

Omg, your reaction was soooo much fun!! I loved how much you got into it! Welcome to the Voiceplay obsession! The bass is Geoff Castellucci, he and the beatboxer created the group back when they were in high school. Geoff also has his own channel with bass covers. He has a 5 octave vocal range! He also does a lot of the arranging. Beatboxer is Layne Stein, he is world class. He is also a producer who has done stuff with Patty Cake productions (company founded by an old member of Voiceplay, Tony Wakim). He was the co-arranger of this and does many others. The guy next to Geoff is Eli (pronounced Ellie). He's the tenor of the group, and the other one to produce this arrangement. He can also do a million character voices, even while singing. Guy next to the beatboxer in the hat is J.None. He's the baritone and the newest member of the group, joining after Tony left about 3 years ago. J is also a vocal coach. Guy in the middle is Omar, the featured collab partner. He's done another great song with them, Superstition. I recommend it. Voiceplay is normally 5 guys, they're currently looking for another, since their first tenor, Earl, left in the summer. Meanwhile they are doing killer collabs like this one. They usually do 1-2 videos a month. They've even had some videos with the guys from Home Free. One of the coolest parts of VP is that they do pretty much all the work - they arrange, record, film, direct, design sets, do lighting, and often edit all their music and videos. They're so skilled. And they are super connected to their fans. On Patreon, they do livechats every couple of weeks.

If you want to see some crazy bass combos, you may want to check out “Just Sing” which is a cover VoicePlay did with a bunch of their friends in a cappella land and former members of their group. Let’s just say that Geoff is not the only bass in that video. (If you are able to watch it with subtitles on, it will tell you who everyone is)

There are several layers to this group no matter what they sing. I have had the pleasure of hearing them in person a few years ago at the Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World and even then they were polished, tight and complete professionals. You are in for a real treat as you explore their different videos and their music. They are ALL super talented and work extremely hard at this and it totally shows. They are IMHO the most theatrical of the top 4 acapella groups currently. (Meaning Pentatonix, Home Free, Straight No Chaser and VoicePlay) Straight no Chaser was the 1st group to really impress me but the sheer breadth and depth of the 5 guys in this group is just AMAZING. They recently had real life catch up to their long time 1st tenor Earl Elkins Jr. BUT....They are all still friends and have been finding KILLER artists to feature since he left. My own personal jaw droppers with these featured guest stars are Unchained Melody featuring John Pinto Jr. and You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch featuring Adriana Arellano. My favorite recommendations for you are 16 tons a low bass singer cover by Geoff and the Oogie Boogie song by Voice Play. The sheer talent and WORK that shows in these performances will rock your world

I think yours is my favourite reaction to this song! :) Aren't they wonderful? VoicePlay is my favourite a capella group, and in my opinion tragically underrated. I see lots of people have been giving song suggestions, but I'll toss in their cover of Prince's song "Kiss".

It's not even fair no matter how impressive they are as individuals when a world class bass starts to vocalize it's primal reaction. Even without amplification that slow frequency can be felt. Watching pentatonix, home free and voiceplay do smaller venues and the look the fellow performers give the bass isn't a look of admiration it's more like acknowledgment that this isn't normal. I didn't even know the 1st octave was doable without it sounding like only air.

Okay, so my two cents worth: If you want to see an example of Geoff's full range and the guys' ability to do character voices, you want Oogie Boogie Song. If you want to hear more of their gorgeous, spine-tingling harmonies, you want Can't Help Falling In Love. If you want to see each singer showcased and their incredible theatrical abilities and playfulness, you want Little Mermaid Medley. But really, there's no such thing as a bad Voiceplay video.

Welcome to the best Acapella group out there. Really. Geoff's bass isn't very obvious in this but check him out, solo performances included. Geoff Castellucci. Trust me. When Geoff goes into full subharnic range (it's known as subterranean) it blows your mind.

Everyone! Please, please click on the "thumbs up" button for this lovely reviewer. She has a lot of subscribers, gets views and comments but people seem to forget to give her a thumbs up! I am a newer subscriber but I always enjoy her reactions. Just my two cents on her behalf - I don't know her personally but she seems to be a truly lovely person who deserves some love back.

I love this reaction! I do have a little bit of criticism though: Layne is a AMAZING beatboxer and his way of layering up different sounds is remarkable. I feel like you should have given him WAY more credit and appreciation. Especially because there are some SICK beatbox moments in this one, and it just kinda pains me to leave them unsaid. All you said was: “And oh, the beatboxer was great!” And that was just kind of it... And don’t get me wrong, Geoff Castelucci is a freaking BEAST! I love his smooth voice but I feel like he takes up so much space sometimes. If you react to more VoicePlay, here is some things to point out that’ll get the fans happy: J:none’s INSANE riffs! Eli’s way of being able to sing really calmly but also really loud and hard rocky (you’ll se that in their “queen in 5 minutes”) Earl, an AMAZING singer who unfortunately left the group not to long ago, has some insane high notes. Point those out as well! And of course, my man Layne who’s beats slay video after video. You should watch their Warriors cover!

Voiceplay is new to me and this was my first song ever for them. It will take more than one song for me to learn everyone. I have a bias for bass singers and was specifically referred to them because of the bass. I will over time get to know and focus in on everyone. I think the entire group did great. Thanks for the input!

If you like Geoff's bass, you should try 16 Tons, which he as recently released. It's all him, multi-tracked, and it really showcases some of his Bass. If you want to see his range, try his cover of Blackbird. Again, it's him multi-tracked, but wow. He hits every octave and does some super-impressive self-harmonizing. Also all of the Voiceplay stuff is pretty awesome. Lane, their beatbox is incredible, but so are all of them really, a superstar group. Some of their best: The little Mermaid Medley, You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Tennessee Whiskey and The Oogie Boogie Song.

I don't know if you go back to these comments, but subscribing in hopes that you will do more of VP and Geoff. I see you have BTS on your wheel. You might check out their Boy Bands medley. They cover back to the Beatles, Jackson 5 through the 90's Boy Bands and end with Fake Love. The also have done a cover of Butter that I actually like better than the original. They have gone through a lot of changes recently so you will see new faces from time to time but Geoff (bass) and Layne (beatboxer) have been together since middle school and Eli (pronounced L.E. - the opening rock singer) has been with them for a long time - probably just after high school. They also use guests a lot. They are the theatrical group - watch one of their medleys (Disney is a fave since they all live in Orlando and performed at D. World as well as Universal). Their recent stuff is outstanding. Since Covid, they can't tour anymore and put out more videos which are very polished. Unlike Home Free and OTX, they don't have a recording contact . They do just about all of it themselves- arrangements, recording, lighting, post production. Geoff's wife Kathy does makeup and some if the photography. (I also love the others but I find it amazing that they do it all on their own with the polish they have.) One more note - as a video, they all record their own tracks at home and Layne does the mixing. They do sing together, but the recording takes place earlier and that is the track they use. However, during Covid's peak, they could not get together, so they never sang "I will Survive" together in the video. Some serious work in post production to make it so seamless.
