Great reaction! Thank you for sharing. FYI - That "tingling" some experience when (amongst other things) listening to great music is called "frisson" (from the French). Pentatonix is for sure a great way to experience it. Interestingly, results from personality tests show that listeners who experience frisson also score high for a personality trait called Openness to Experience. Studies have shown that people who possess this trait have unusually active imaginations, appreciate beauty and nature, seek out new experiences, often reflect deeply on their feelings, and love variety in life.

Oh, VERY interesting data! Truth be told, I absolutely love nature and am always up to trying new things...much of what you say here sounds like Drew and me. We are the only two in the family who experiences the tingling. ❤️💕

Thank you, Drew! The album that Sounds Of Silence originally appeared on was called "Wednesday Morning 3 A,M. by Simon & Garfunkel. It was one of the first albums I ever purchased, although it was two years or so after the album was released. But then again, when I got it in 1966, it was with birthday money from my 10th birthday. I guess I was pretty precocious for my age. More PTX for you to react to? I would say "Imagine", "Say Something", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Run To You" and "Can't Sleep Love". The last two are original songs that group members wrote (usually with outside help.)

Great reaction. Glad you liked it. One of my elementary school teachers taught us this song in the mid 60's, second grade, I think . All thru life I could only remember this line; And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls , and tenement halls. And whispered in the sounds of silence. I never forgot that part even tho I didn't know what a subway or a tenement was. After seeing this video, I now understand why she taught it to us. It's beautiful in a way I didn't understand as a child. I like this version way better! Much love from California.

I get chills on several ptx songs. I can't control it. It just happens. I think it's interesting that people react differently to the same harmonics tho. Kind of how you will like one color in your friend likes another color. Are you think a particular food tastes delicious and somebody else is sickened by it. I've always found that fascinating! But I think that's part of the variety to God's creation that makes it so special., when looking at or enjoying a flower garden , You don't want every single flower to be the same color shape size and aroma or it's very boring. The beauty is in their differences and uniqueness.

Actually this song was written after the cold war with Cuba and it is about a vision of a nuclear explosion. Seeing a neon light split the night, people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening, people writing songs that no one shared... They are basically talking about nuclear zombies left over. I remember the duck and cover exercises that grammar school students did to duck and cover their eyes from being blinded or glass shattering by the force of the blast. I remember those drills very well. Everyone was very frightened, building personal fall out shelters in their backyards. Then the only way future generations would hear of the story was on the subway walls and tenement halls, as if words from the Prophets.. I am so glad that Pentatonix revamped this song for a future generation bc now we have the same threat with a leader testing long range missiles into the night... again. P. S. again, I loved your reactions, as I have since I subscribed.
