As far as seasonal events go, I have to say the meteors stand out to me for one specific reason: they spawn in during the mission rather than just be sort of sitting there to be found by players. This little detail makes all the difference in terms of my enjoyment of them. There's nothing like the "oh shit!" factor of meteor about to pop a dreadnought egg while you're still trying to secure the surrounding area. It's this sort of surprise that makes me like them a lot more than the other events.
@bejibx

Yeah, there was one time I had to fight 3 dreadnoughts at once because 2 guys on our team popped 2 dreadnought eggs simultaneously and the third one was popped by meteor. Somehow we managed to beet it even though fight was like hell on Hoxxes.

One potential fix for the cargo crate loot pool would for there to be a sort of "super cargo crate" that's rarer and needs 4 batteries, but unlocks a paintjob/framework for every class / weapon instead of having to do it all piecemeal

In regards to rival events, the rival presence mutator could guarantee a rival event. There must be a reason they're present in the area. But the idea of swapping the hacking phases of industrial sabotage with the other two rival events is something that sounds great
@RDUFFAL
@RDUFFAL Жыл бұрын
Something I've always thought would be fantastic for a complete variation of industrial sabotage is to reintroduce the beta version of the mission. It had a large circular caretaker style with which you called down generators to overcharge its shielding and allow you to damage it. I've always thought this sounded incredibly fun and is kind of a good way to flip the current fight on its head.

I would love if you could halt assignments and start a different one without losing progress on the former. This is incredibly annoying, especially if the assignment spans more than 3-4 missions. Sometimes you're halfway deep in an assignment but you run out of matrix cores and the weekly core hunt is available. I hate having to choose between completing the final 3 missions and possibly not being able to reap the rewards from machine events I may encounter, or having to drop my current assignment, losing the progress, just so I can get cores from another one first, later having to redo the same missions I've already completed before.

Currently, I literally never look at the Season challenges, because they naturally happen as I play the game. I know for a fact that one of them will be class based, and one of them will be biome based, so as long as I just play the game and have variety in which class I play as and which biome I play on, they will automatically complete themselves. I think your idea of implementing TF2’s contract system would be an amazing thing to see in DRG, especially because it would add so much more for any player to do. Some ideas for class-specific contract challenges could be: Scout - The Gardener: After 3 seconds of airtime, successfully kill an enemy using a power attack mid-air Gunner - Air Support: Kill at least 20 enemies while suspended from a zip line. Engineer - Bombardier: Kill at least 10 enemies using a single bullet from the Deepcore 40mm PGL. Driller - Bring the Heat: During a single mission, overheat your drills a total of 10 times. So many ideas could come from the contract system.
@lordpumpkinhead265
@lordpumpkinhead265 Жыл бұрын
Other ideas for contracts: Scout: Electrician: Deploy 20 lights. Gunner: Suppressive Fire: Fire any primary weapon for 10 seconds straight. Engineer: Sentry Goin' Up: Deploy and build 20 Sentries. Driller: Anarchist: Burn or Freeze 50 mobs.

I think this Season the spawn rate of the Lithophage Corrupter and the Jet Boots should been swapped. Make the Corrupeter more rare, and Jet Boots more common, at least for this Season. Or better yet, *make the Jet Boots Event related.* Have an Event where you need to call down Jet Boots to complete it, like a Lithophage spreader that runs all over the ceilings, and you need to fly up to clean it. Makes more sense than Management putting time, and money into the creation of Jet Boots, only to lock it behind a game of Flappy Bird, then shoot them all randomly all over Hoxxes for the Dwarves to find on 1/10 of their trips? Which is especially weird *when there are Jet Boots that you can equip on the Space Rig that don't carry over to the Mission.*

The simplest thing is that in season 5, rival and rockpox events should be more common than rival events are in season 4. Might be best accomplished by giving Rockpox it's own mission type (scaling the mutator spike cap down) and then adding that Rival Pressence and Lithophage Outbreak mutators also guarantee an event from their pool. Contracts would be such a welcome addition to help vary gameplay.

I'd love to see a Deep Dive overhaul with season themed dives. Imagine piercing into the heart of a cavern that's been fully rockpox'd, gradually getting worse and worse with each dive (presumably with some sort of hazmat protection) before cutting it off, or finding the Rival outpost and piercing its defences, before interrupting their orbital relay so they can no longer send down caretakers.

I think it's a good thing that the robots are very rare for now. At the end of season 2 a lot of people were really tired after 1 full year of them. Now what DRG needs to do is that for season 5 they increase the robot event/anomaly quite a lot, and make every rockpox related stuff as rare as robots in season 3-4. Once we hit a new theme in season 7, bring back the rockpox etc... But yeah i do think that they should've increased for robot encounter in season 4

The thing I like about rockpox is it creates a cool sub-biome in missions that I think would be a cool way of adding more cave variety. They could be relevant be biome specific or be more abstractly related. Imagine exploring a cave and coming across the wreck of a crashed spaceship or spacerig and there's some unique loot in it but also its security systems attack you or impede progress. From things like turrets to locked doors that need a keycard to open or be blown up/dug through/around.

I can agree about keeping the seasonal events more varied so that players don't get too burnt out over the course of a season (I'm relieved to have completed all the mandatory lithophage outbreaks for scrip lol), but for me personally I do like how the seasonal challenges are straight forward and can be completed with normal gameplay. I know the ideas in the video were just a suggestion to get the discussion started, but I'm not personally a fan of challenges where it could be quite situational so that I spend the entire mission looking for an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary to tick a box lol. Cargo Crates and Helmets should remain a chance to spawn, but also, add a positive modifier (or negative) with a "SOS" signal. All it does is guarantee a Helmet or Crate spawn, and helps narrow down the pool. It also provides good mineral payout for those who are done with the crates, so there's always a reason for them to exist. If they make it a negative modifier, it can be an "Elite" group of bugs that had killed the Dwarf, or bugs that find the crate's beeping interesting, so they just patrol the area.

Great video! Want to preface this saying I love this game to bits (that won't stop me criticising it though). I think my favourite thing about drg is the absolutely immense amount of variety in how you can make a loadout. Part of the reason i don't like the robots is because it kind of feels like you're bottlenecked into a fire build. It's the same with rockpox just with DOT builds feeling weak comparatively to wm1. Also they really need to fix fighting rockpox at the moment, it feels like you're supposed to get close to kill rockpox enemies, yet the game consistently punishes you for doing so. I love this game so much, but it just feels like I have to play a certain way during a season, or I feel like I'm actively screwing my team over. This is most true for driller imo, but I do think other classes face a similar issue. Not as big of a deal for dreadnoughts though, because those are designed to be huge tanky single targets which specific builds will do better against. It's just the season gimmick bottlenecking me that I hate. I personally think they need to give people more to stick around for, new weapons, grenades, maybe even rework perks, traversal tools or support tools. I want to see the kind of stuff that I can play around with for hundreds of hours, not a shiny new gimmick that costs me my sanity. I loved the two new enemies, even if stingtails are hugely overtuned. I want to see this game succeed but as it stands there just isn't enough motive to keep playing the game outside of seeing the new gimmick for the first time. Rock and stone!

Thank you for coming up with these cool ideas! It keeps reminding me of all the fun I had in seasons I and II -- and now in III and IV! And yes: I also think it would be good to establish some good way to incorporate all these game mechanics into the current state to make even more value out of it and to bring more variety. Your ideas sound reasonable, well thought out. The season concept has one major good point: it focusses on some new game mechanic and guides all players through this content. Its drawback is that it focusses on some new game mechanic such that players must obey its content :-D And: thank you for not just ranting about stuff that you and I enjoy(ed).

this is such a great video. i haven't played tf2 (a crime, i know) but the contract system you recommended and the examples for it were really cool and exciting, exactly the stuff that would make me more interested to keep playing drg. and i agree that the season events need some change. personally i find them all fine apart from harold, he takes too long to kill and too much ammo, i prefer to just ignore him if i see him. I think a way to improve season events could be to make the current event also drop a loot crate with a cosmetic in it, not only making it more valuable for the player's time but also tackling that problem of the loot pool being inflated. adding more ways to suck up all those banked cosmetics won't get rid of the problem but it at least makes it take less time if you want them all. another thing to make events more interesting would be making more power ups and making them appear somehow during the events, like the pickaxe one in that ebonite machine event. those could really change the gameplay up, making them less monotonous and speed them up a bit, because hey your bullets explode or your gun fires twice as fast or you get infinite grenades, or something to that effect. one last idea i have could be giving you more friendly things to help you out, like perhaps against the corruptor, some bugs could attack it instead of you, or for the rival events, every once in a while a robit could glitch and swap sides for a bit. they at least change the player's focus from attacking those enemies to fighting the main event or other enemies. im not super sure on how this would be implemented cause i just thought of it, or if its a good idea, but i thought it was worth putting it out there. thanks for your awesome work sniss, we gonna make it to 60k with this one frfr 🔥🔥🔥

I agree heavily with most of the ideas you propose in this video but as silly as it is, I really like your idea for more involved holiday events, and the Oktoberfest keg rocket fits the aesthetic of the game perfectly. I could see other events being a little more difficult to draft up, but I think it will really liven up the game around the holidays. Although I could see other holiday celebrations being a bit more difficult to theme while keeping them unique. Having each one be a reskinned "bring these objects to the rocket" would cheapen the value I think, and we'd have the same issue we have now where it's the same thing reskinned for each holiday. And the contract system you proposed is absolutely perfect, and I think it's the next step up from the Weapon Maintenance system they introduced this season. Which is a system I really like because it encouraged me to use weapons that I previously hadn't. I'd had the Nishanka crossbow license for maybe 6 months now and I only just bought the actual gun this week. I think this system would really work out a lot of the kinks with the season pass system, and would probably help engagement even after clearing out the pass. I also saw someone mention adding more random events that aren't themed with any season, which I also agree with, having things like Korloks and BET-Cs that don't really fit in with any of the rigid season themes makes them feel unique. And I think if they do it right Ghost Ship might also be able to use it to play into some of the less overt worldbuilding/storytelling. I especially like the ideas of biome-specific dreadnaughts having a chance to spawn on Elimination missions with special abilities and unique weaknesses, or maybe a machine event where you find a heavy loader that a player (or Bosco, to make it a bit more viable on solo missions) has to pilot to mine out veins of some kind of strong metal, maybe something inspired by Mithril? While the other players have to maintain and repair Thumpers that help locate the ore veins within the walls. When it's done you take the loader either to Molly or a special Mega Mule that will accompany you for the rest of the mission (though you can't deposit anything else in it) I think my favorite idea is maybe adding an abandoned DRG outpost with "malfunctioning" turrets that you need to break into, call down a pod, and plant bombs inside to scuttle it. Maybe these outposts could also have a high chance of supply crates spawning in/near them that could contain jet boots, weapon frameworks, loot, or other goodies. You could also have these be biome themed. In the Magma Core it could resemble a weapon foundry while places like the Glacial Strata and Radioactive Exclusion Zone would be thick-walled shelters. The Azure Weald and Dense Biozone could be focused on researching the flora and fauna, and there could even be one that only spawns in Rockpox infested areas.

At the VERY least they need to merge multi-class cosmetics into single items. Enough having to get the same hat 4 times to have it unlocked on everyone. That system made sense back when there was only 40~ish cosmetics per dwarf, now there's like over 200 for each Dwarf.

Rival events have a chance to replace the hacking pods on Industrial Sabotage would go so far in terms of making that mission more enjoyable. I've always thought that more randomized objectives during missions would add so much to this game. Different minerals to mine during Point Extraction, different egg types in Egg Hunt (IE Mactera eggs). Maybe even a rival event could be an alternative objective in salvage missions. Gotta grab a rival core instead of fixing mini mules, it's what the previous crew was going for. Different objective at the end of Drilldozer missions. Stuff like that.

A significant amount of the issue of content being phased out is just down to people getting unlucky. Rival tech stuff being rare isn't a problem: it's that because it's entirely random some people are really unlucky and literally never get to see it. Some tweaks to the randomness can reign that in somewhat, making it something that occasionally shows up without becoming too frequent and repetitive to get old. It being rare is not a problem in my opinion.

Fantastic video! I agree with just about all of your points. I just passed 500 hours in this game and have noticed a few of the big things that have gotten stale. Mini meteor event, season challenges getting repetitive, getting tired of the season theming. I love rockpox and the rival tech, but a full year for each theme does get pretty old. I really liked your idea for the rival events being way more common on industrial sabotage. Antenna events and prospectors should spawn on those events way more. Plus I want to see way more nemesis encounters. The nemesis is my favorite enemy in the game and I almost never get the chance to see it. I feel like each Industrial Sabotage mission should have at least one nemesis guarding it.

This video really resonated with me. If i'm to be completely honest, the current system of challenges where you receive a new one every day is exactly the thing that made me end up dropping the game. The game's fun, but it feels as tho the challenges highlight the worst aspects of it. It makes the game feel way more repetitive and it just feels very exhausting. I would imagine players that have a lot of free time might enjoy being encouraged to play 1hr+ every day, but for me that's just not feasible. The challenges encourage you to play a lot every day and implicitly discourage you from taking a break from drg, eventually that just became too much for me and i had to leave the game for my own sanity's sake. Ik that i can get all the stuff later, but it's pretty obvious that there still exists a FOMO in the season passes. I've literally not gotten to lvl 100 on any of the three season passes that i've played with (i missed season 3's pass) Also just wanna say, having a tf2 like contract system would honestly be so cool! You could take it at your own pace, be it fast or slow doesn't matter, and you could focus on doing the stuff you actually find interesting, moving to other things at any time if any one thing gets too stale and interact with way more of the mechanics in the game than just: play as [these characters] or finish a mission in [these biomes].

The big meteor is definitely one of my favorite events. It doesn't feel difficult or unfun to do, the bug spawns aren't as intense as so many pod-defense things tend to be particularly since they break down whether the bugs get at them or not, and the setup isn't tedius but instead a refreshing change from whatever the mission has you do. Plus they make a really satisfying ping when you pickaxe them while vibing in the cave and make cool sounds when they're landing. The small meteors, on the other hand, are definitely the most annoying, and I think a big part of that is the insane amount of commotion they make for literally no real change. You walk up to it, bonk it a few times, and then walk away from it and that's that, you repeat that seven or eight times, you get a meager reward. They leave hot rock everywhere, they make craters that disrupt the cave, they leave big tunnels all over the ceiling and walls, and the screenshake when they land is absurdly overdone. This combined with how damn common they are is what makes it so bad - during Season 3, it wasn't as bad because you'd get 2-3 meteor events in a mission or none in a mission more often than just getting one, and that the small meteors felt like actual debris from the big ones because they usually came pretty soon after. But now, the Corrupter has a 50% chance to replace the big meteor, which means you don't get that but you still get the small ones every time. I liked the Prospector, the data deposit isn't unfun to do - a spontanious defense objective is honestly quite lacking in the game - and the comms router is both cool and fun. The Rivals have their issues but the events aren't one of them. I do hope we get something in the game that isn't just more RNG spawns though - give us something guaranteed. I think the Nemesis is the flagship example of this. It's a super cool concept for an enemy, and it's always got a small chance to spawn in _any_ mission, regardless of spawnset, and but it's an underwhelming fight - it's a slower, flying bulk that throws shields at you, effectively, as both exist to force you to not keep still until you kill them, but it isn't nearly as satisfying to kill - and it's so incredibly rare despite it literally being the logo of Season 2. I've seen maybe 20 or 30, and I've played the game an unhealthy amount since then. I want to encounter them, because their sound design is terrifying and amazing all at the same time, but they're also disappointing. An enemy that can spawn in at any place, at any time, during any mission should be terrifying and a boss to rival the dreadnoughts, particularly since it's so coreographed that it's there what with the voices not exactly blending in with any roars or assorted sounds of the surrounding creatures. But it's just.. mildly inconvenient.

the contracts idea would honestly be amazing not just as a "go at your own pace / do what you want first" but it would help newer players a ton in learning the game better and each classes roles, how to use weapons, etc (and i know this since the tf2 contract system is what helped me actually learn other classes outside of my main; before i 100%'d my contracker i stuck to like 3 maps and played 2 maybe 3 classes. after doing the contracts i'm not only more comfortable playing on all sorts of maps but i also have a much bigger understanding of class roles and weapon selection) not to mention it would encourage the use of things one wouldn't bother with. it'd go hand in hand as a companion to assignment missions and would fit the world perfectly honestly; there would just have to be a buffer to make sure contracts don't get repeated too often (perhaps something along the lines of a controlled randomizer similar to deep dives but a bit more loose - and everyone gets unique contracts from that since management probably has specific jobs for us specific workers)
@q4silent997

I like the idea of contracts that you mentioned. The only problem I see is that some can detract from the core gameplay loop with their requirements. If I see that I need to visit a specific biome and do 3 things that are wholly unrelated from shooting bugs in the face, I'm gonna play Terraria instead. A good way to combat this is to be able to have multiple contracts active at the same time, (2-3) so that you can mix and match on what you want to focus on doing. This creates interesting scenarios for players that try to do these contracts as efficiently as possible. With enough contract categories, you can make some pretty fun combos with that for essentially 'self-made' fun. On the flip side, if you are a player that doesn't care about efficiency, you can still have multiple contracts active but only focus one at a time, casually pursuing the other 1-2 in the background. Last point of critique: the numbers you gave for season pass exp for the challenges was abysmal imo. 2500 exp translates to roughly two mission in game time, whereas the specific challenges of the contract would take at least 5-10 missions depending on luck, player skill and challenge complexity. That's all I have.

I think the biggest problem with this season is that it really doesn’t feel like a new season, it feels like a mid season update. The jet boots are cool, but you rarely see them, same goes for the corrupter who I actually fought for the first time a while back and…. It’s a fine boss, but It doesn’t put up much of a fight (I wasn’t playing on that hard of a difficulty so that might be the problem) and I’m also getting kind of tired of the rock pox, like, yeah it’s cool, but it’s so common and you’re practically doing the exact same thing over and over. The Rival events, in my opinion, were a lot better, as most of them involved either fun puzzles where you have to use the environment to your advantage, or it’s a cool, epic battle, like the caretaker, (Rock Pox could really use a fight like that, the corrupter ain’t doin’ it for me) like imagine fighting a giant, living meteorite, that has giant kraken like tentacles that grab you and infect you, like the nemesis; and maybe it can infect and change the cave around you, like shift it around, like the cave is alive. Maybe it could use its tentacles to slam the ground near players. I feel like something like that, a big epic boss fight, could really help with the rock pox theme, and add something unique.

a contract system is overall a really great idea, but my favorite thing about this suggestion is that it allows you to specifically grind for what you're looking for rather than getting random rewards that you don't care for at all i don't like engineer at all, so when i keep getting cosmetics only for him, or overclocks for weapons i literally don't have yet, that's really annoying if i was allowed to specifically grind for the overclocks i'm looking for or at least overclocks for weapons i have and care about, that would be great, and that's how it should be even with how unlikely it is for you to get a specific oc you're looking for, my biggest problem with ocs is that you can only get a limited amount of them per week, many of those are guaranteed to be cosmetics, and many of them are locked behind things i literally don't have the resources to do (not gonna solo dd/edd) edit: although this contract system is already extremely similar to just assignments, which is fine just adding more specific cosmetic assignments, and having overclock assignments is a really good idea

Sniss says what we're all thinking. I'm not joking, I was chatting about this at a party earlier today, and then this came out. I really like your idea of implementing a contract system. Another benefit to it is that they could retroactively include the rival and plague content as their own contract packs so that people can experience past seasons to their fullest if they weren't around to play them. Maybe some spiffy contract-exclusive cosmetics to spice up the deal too, like a business suit and top hat or something. Can you imagine a bunch of silly dwarf guys in suits? It'd be like a little dwarven mafia or something.

Firstly, nice point about the challenge system, never thought about it before, but you are right, could be so much more. Contracts sound neat. And yes holiday updates are not using their full potential, they could be used to push experimental stuff to see what sticks and live playtest ideas for some short time. Now, I just wanna say that I don‘t think repurposing the season content into special missions is a good idea. I always think about Path of Exile when it comes to the stuff that can roll in a mission and how great DRG will be when it comes to that with a few more seasons. There needs to be a balance between sometimes reoccurring content and permanent content. It is so fun to do a „standard“ mission and have a boss or event spawn, because randomized missions are what keep everything fresh. We need more for the pool of possibilities and more variety, variety meaning not another „wait till bar is full“ type of thing. Antenna event for example is cool. The hacking is short and there is a lot of fighting and moving in between, but it is also fast paced overall and can be very hectic. Doesn‘t need to be seasonal content though. Could be giving each biome an even more distinct identity with more special enemies and world gen. Or reworking modifiers, so rival presence and lithophage outbreak are more pronounced after a season ends, like strongholds that survived the dwarfs initially. There is a lot of underutilized stuff for a fresh spin: perk system, a lot of the mission modifiers, some overclocks, more biomes, new crazy events, the mission length and complexity having more of an impact on map gen, like complexity 3 having different cave systems intertwined, drillers would go nuts. I mean they have this fantasy-sci-fi setting and not everything has to be grounded. Ghost aliens and teleport beer? Why not add portals for a specific room of a mission because „magic stones“. Or coming across some kind of key event to once enter a special variation of a biome where you found it after the mission ends, like a hive or ancient temple or forgotten dwarf mine with dangerous special old wildlife and ancient plants and funny animals. Endless freedom for the devs. In the end it probably comes down to us being too many people who play this game way too much for this small of a studio to keep everybody satisfied. Maybe GSG will expand to counteract this, who knows. Anyways, rock and stone!

One idea I heard about somewhere and liked was an "armory" perk. If you choose it, it makes the resupply deploy a mini turret on top(50-100 shots) and if others took the perk then it gets even more ammo or has additional benefits like damage resistance, specifically when resupplying. I feel They could absolutely lean into the humor more. Imagine a "rescue" mission where you're dragging a damaged pod to an extraction zone, and the whiny fellow inside is occasionally commenting along the way. "Hey! Easy out there!" "That weapon sure don't *sound* regulation. Nice. " "Oi! You alright out there? I'll help ya! *rattling door* Ah. Right. Still stuck."

TF2's contracts is the last thing I'd want to see in DRG, I absolutely hated them in TF2, they were easily the most unfun thing I experienced in my 12 years that I've been playing the game, and your idea sounds equally as painful as it was in TF2. "Do this highly specific random thing x times" is the least fun thing I can imagine for DRG, I don't mind the current challenge system but it just needs more variety. The problem with DRG is the lack of variety, not a lack of carrots on a stick to keep playing, DRG has an absolutely pitiful amount of weapons and main mission objectives, to me there should be at the very minimum double that amount, three primaries and secondaries per class is simply a pitiful amount of options for a co-op arsenal.

These past 4 seasons feel like they should've been 2 seasons with "half season" updates. It may be a big ask but since we're likely not getting anything as big as new weapons in the near future I think they could do this for future seasons where roughly halfway through we get a progression to the theme of the season like new events or whatnot. It could be a bit of a time crunch but I feel like it'd help with the feeling that seasons overstay their welcome. (Also please add more to the cosmetic core, lootcrate, and lost gear pools that aren't seasonal stuff people might have missed)

I think there should be 1 more mission type centered around recovering remains of the company's failed operiations like what we see in Salvage Operations. I love the idea of exploring abandoned bases and I think it would be cool if we had a mission type where we explore abandoned forward operating bases and recover lost intel (that could tie into Rogue Core). These bases could have been from the first mining operations set up by Deep Rock and the terrain generation would be altered to make the area look like it was strip mined by heavy equipment. Players would find modular habitats, abandoned mining equipment, and other signs that show that people lived here. I also think we could benefit from another random encounter that could buff the team like jet boots and bet-c. Maybe players could find a lost beer keg. If players unlock the keg, they could gain access to a random beer with buff effects like the beers of the day in the Abyss Bar. The buff effects of the lost beer would be more potent than the beers in the Abyss Bar due to being given time to age down in the caves.

Love this, I have around 1200 hours in DRG and still love playing it. That being said I mainly ignore the season events now because they've become too much. The idea of balancing and reworking what's there is definitely always going to be harder than stacking new things on top but it's certainly the better approach and I hope Ghostship pivots to move that way.

what if they added more uses for Blank Matrix Cores? Like you could slot one into a cargo crate and it gives you an extra cosmetic? Just a thought for some people that might have a buncha cores but their cargo crate loot pool is still quite large

That's a pretty neat idea! As someone with entirely too many blank cores, all of the weapon overclocks, and nowhere near enough cosmetics, I would love to see that in the game!

i only got a little more than 100 hours on the game so i might not be the most acquainted to it lmao but something i'd really love to see (even if i don't know if it would be the most fitting to how the game handles season content) is the Rockpox becoming it's own region in a way, kinda like what we have with the red zones but instead of being randomly on top of other regions, at the end of season 4 it'd become it's own, new smaller region where the mission types could be either cleaning out the spikes and whatnot, or simply be regular mission types but often with contagion spikes or corruptors alongside it as side objectives. i think the Rockpox stuff has quite a good look of it's own with the bright sickly yellow/orange glowy bits and the dark red fleshy tentacle stuff, where i think it'd work well if said region focus on that look, most of it consisting of somewhat regular rock and cave formations, so that the Rockpox remain the focus and identity of the region, all bathing in the dark yellow-ish fog you often see around spikes. in term of lore/context i think the region could be just where the (i don't remember the exact name) Lithophage rock meteor orbiting around Hoxxes came crashing down after the miners managed to clear out most of the infection on the planet. i think it could allow people to either kinda leave the Rockpox stuff behind them if they don't wanna interact as much with it afterwards, and still give the option for those who do want to do some more contagion stuff from time to time to be able to play with these again (as well as giving some breathing room to Hoxxes, until Rogue Core at least....)

Started in season 4 and have nearly 400 hours and im already kinda sick of data deposits possibly because of rival sabotage PTSD(was grinding it for milestones). in love with the signals tho and prospector is also kinda fun. Now that the season is DRILLING DEEPER somethinh like mine 500 gold or a gold chunk, maybe mine 80 morkite above the norm challenges would make a lot of sense.

Personally if I was part of the dev team/ect , not only do I feel like I would’ve found your videos already but this level of dedication and having this platform to the core player base.. I really think they should strike SOME sort of deal with you/maybe collaborate with your insights/take them into consideration

I was playing with a friend the other day and was saying something very similar! The contract idea is great and would really add a bit more charm while giving players a chance to try a new play style. Really solid points, keep it up my dude!

I feel they should really cut back on the amount of Cosmetics each season, it takes a lot of time to unlock them all and after a few hours of checking out the new stuff, I tend to not want to bother with it. Feels more like obligation to unlock everything more than a want, especially since most of it goes into the cargo crates which bloat out that loot pool.

@@AcroxShadowY’all are completely missing the point… you’re not meant to grind tf out of it and get them all asap. That’s why they put them into the cargo crates after. Play the game at your own pace and stop burning yourself out.

You know what would be a good silly objective, complete a mission with at least 20% or above in the drunk meter, so basically two glyphid slammers

Yes, please GSG take notes from this guy! You have made probably the best indie game fundament I have seen in a long time. But your events get way too repetitive way too quick. The potential for this game is insane and I really hope that GSG can keep this gem relevant and fun for many years to come. ❤

I like the idea of having a contract system like in TF2. I'd adapt that even further so that certain parts of the tree could focus on certain types of tasks and you could see a few unlocked nodes deep into the tree. That would allow the player to choose a certain path to follow

I did get pretty sick of rivals and rockpox after a couple seasons of each. I think that's more a me having 1000 hours problem than them totally lacking variety in themselves though. I wouldn't mind waiting longer for a bigger, more fun to play kind of addition than the usual smaller events. Doing the season events is kinda more a courtesy to the other players than really wanting to do them myself at this point A caveat I'd have on the contracts thing is that it would really suck if you're having to compete with the other players to do things a certain way, or like have to beat them to the punch doing certain small objectives that are usually just a benefit to the whole team

Sniss did say they can make it so people who have the same objectives active for a mission in the contract can unlock it for the other players if they have it active, which would fix people scrambling to complete stuff for themselves.

I enjoyed this video, and yes I can definitely agree about the seasons and the changes that would benefit them most! The main thing with me though is that there isn't enough endgame material to keep me interested unless it's helping newer players, greybeards coaching the greenbeards. I am not getting my hopes up too high for the dev broadcast, but at the very least, changes to the season terminals, ideas for endgame content and maybe a tie-in to any of those regarding the error cubes we find would be a good thing to see for me.
@Aburner1109

drg is great for short, content dense bursts of fun. The base mechanics are good. The enemies are good. The weapons are good. So the game is good. I feel like this game is becoming overcomplicated, and that's seriously taking away from the core experience. Having more incentives to engage with the game (like everything in the season terminal) only makes the player engage in the game in more boring and repetitive ways. Avoiding content you don't want to engage with makes you feel like you're missing out, so generally, you just do it anyway. And then you stop enjoying the game, and you build an addiction rather than a love. I know this because I grinded through all of season 3, getting to level 100 on the season terminal. When I realized I hated how I was playing the game, and hated the trajectory it was moving in, I stopped playing it. And I haven't touched it since. Which fuckin sucks, because I like this game. I like it for what it is, but it feels like gsg keeps taping things onto the sides of it rather than growing the core. And at this point, I think seasonal content distracts from the game more than it adds to it.

Yeah, the season pass sucks. Even if it's free that doesn't make battle passes suck less, they just promote grindy behavior until you burn out.
@nomms
@nomms Жыл бұрын
@@FamelhautI'm fine with the battle passes, it's just a little bonus for me. But I'd really like the core to get focused on more than events. We have a bunch of side objectives from previous seasons, new primary missions, new (more challenging) biomes, and things like this would be a very welcome addition.

The contract system could easily be implemented through a “Space Bounty Hunter” themed update/event. Some bounty hunter themed cosmetics would be dope along with that too.

I’d love to see more random cave events that are separate from the seasonal theme. Part of the magic of deep rock is the discovery of new things and variability of each mission. I’d also love to see way more enemy types, beyond just glyphids.
