I don’t think we have the entire story of why she feels this way. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may help. I would at least try this first. Also, a change might do her good. Throw out toxic people and try to live a healthier mindset. Maybe start with finding out if there is something in the past that started the low self esteem. Then, try to determine if the plastic surgery has improved this. See an expert.

What I don't get is how parents and guardians don't talk enough at the diner table on this phenomenon. Influencers are glorified sales jobs. But not just the good old Vacuum cleaner door to door seller that will need to face the adult in the house before being invited inside. Children cannot know the difference between a sales agenda and a real friend. Unless their parents, teachers, older siblings, guardians (basically caring adults in their life) explain and talk about it to them from an early age. Exposure to information and care from people that love them. That's the solution!!!!

the biggest part in all this is the parents. When are we going to address the epidemic of the non-existent parenting? the girl started this as a minor, and years of feeling ugly, not special and not worthy led up to this. I can imagine getting the first one secretly - you save all the Christmas and birthday money your grandparents, parents and aunties give you, maybe do a part-time gig and get a $200 filler in some back alley shop you find on instagram or even cheaper from some 1st year medical student. But to do it again? And again? While still being under your parents' care? inconceivable

Parents ignoring or even bullying their kids about their looks is nothing new. Kids these days just can access a lot of things we never had access to, especially if they aren't flat out broke (they can earn money in ways we couldn't at their age, either - nobody would pay us to review products or the like back then, for instance).

@millym9240
@millym9240 Жыл бұрын
@@Call-me-Al I agree. I guess, for me, that's all the more reason to help people get more parenting education and guidance because the environment has changed, the internet has given kids access to everything and everything access to them, we're not in 2000s or 90s anymore. And you're right about the access to more things for esp the more well-off children, so again, in my opinion, parents in those families have more resources to do better, and they must get the notion that they should.

I’m a 34yo female and are starting to see the very beginning of aging. I won’t lie, there had been many times I seriously thought about getting things done and even set appointments. However, I was EXTREMELY lucky to have a mother that any time in my childhood I pointed out “flaws” she would immediately tell me I was crazy and that I was a child growing. She’d often make me laugh and say things like… you’re just going through the awkward big puppy paw phase ect… I’d beggg her for a nose job or say I was going to change things once I got older. She’d say in no way would she ever allow anything to be done to my face cosmetically unless it was a medical necessity. Now that my face is fully mature I’m beyond grateful I never touched it as I love how it’s turned out naturally. I’ve decided to ignore social media and age gracefully like my mom and grandmother… I’m also married and my husband constantly tells me I only get more beautiful and striking with age. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder and as long as my husband thinks I’m the most beautiful women in his life then that’s all that matters to me now. I’m very lucky and thankful I didn’t grow up in the age of social media but I want to let the youth know I had the same insecurities and they do fade as you learn what life is really about and that there is way much more to it then physical appearance. Stay strong girls and ladies and embrace your uniqueness! 🙏🏽❤️

Her daughter is going to also feel compelled to have a face full of surgery because her mother taught her that the face she was born with isn’t good enough. It’s gross and wrong.

@@margodphd did you obtain a fake ID at 16 to get started though? It's an increasingly common problem for people to get dopamine hits from even minor cosmetic procedures especially when they start young. It really does create the same neuropathways in the brain that are seen in addicts of things like gambling. Nobody is exempt from the potential of this happening, even people who seemingly go in with the mindset you speak of. Fewer and fewer teens and even adults interested in procedures actually have the mature outlook needed to just stick with one. It's become less normalized to do so. What has become normal is people worrying about aging and getting "touch ups" when they're already baby-faced 22 year olds. In the end they just age themselves and create an expensive lifelong problem they never needed. The problem is -nobody- can say for sure that they're not going to create an eventual addiction when they go for their first botox. It's becoming increasingly common for that to be the starting point that leads to more and never ends. It's everywhere and in some places you can't attend a high school without having multiple botoxed peers. It IS true for many people and should be a legit concern for anyone considering altering their face. Nobody is exempt from a potential addiction of any kind. And in this legal addiction, the dealers are socially approved by society so of course most people don't recognize the potential path they're heading down. People tell themselves all the time they're doing it for themselves, not society, but too often they're being dishonest with themselves. "I didn't do it for anyone but myself" is such a common line. I don't doubt it for you because there are indeed people that manage to have that self control..but even the Kardashians say that. Nobody believes them.

What if your daughter wasn't pretty? Then she will suffer all of her life and you just tell her it's in her head? Even average appearance today, means no friends, no confidence, no value as a person, less money, harder to form relationships, no promotions period, harsher repercussions of mistakes, seen as less competent and less intelligent, be able to provide less for yourself and family, etc., all other than if you're able to invest in your physical attractiveness. You can tell yourself it's not this way, but then who really needs therapy? I would say the person telling themselves this, telling themselves that it isn't incredibly important to be physically attractive, because what is more important? In every way the attractive you will have a more enjoyable, engaging and fulfilling life than the unattractive you.... argue this and next you'll tell me "There is a God! It's this one right over there!"
@datahigh
@datahigh 8 ай бұрын
@@rainbowunicornnun There's truth to this... it depends on the situation. There is no doubt the most attractive people are actually the uniquely attractive, and largely in personality alone. However, this is not the norm... For me, 'nice' and 'down to earth' doesn't cut it, I know however most are satisfied with this, to me it's nearly synonymous with being fake... I see the irony as being a supporter of plastic surgery but I don't see it as being fake that much, in a lot of cases. I would contend that although you end up aging anyways, if you're caring a lot about your appearance, it will last longer, and it's possible to reap the benefits of having developed (early teens-30-40yos) with more confidence, more opportunities, all the holistic benefits of being more attractive. A lot of people will say, it makes insecurities and anxiety worse, but this is speculatory at best, of course every is "lonely, depressed, socially anxious, isolated, etc..." welcome to 2023... I mean ok you're not stressing about the plastic surgery, but you're stressing about something anyways imo... So it's better to be stressed and attractive then stressed and unattractive.. Even if it doesn't make you anymore attractive, it's just like w/e.. (assuming the person spent enough money that it didn't get botched or something). Now here is the key word, that this is "possible," in which I must concede... most people will make poor decisions and cause themselves more problems than simply doing nothing... And for this, I must change my mind, it's probably better for most people to just avoid it. Actually this can go deeper, most people actually shouldn't even exist in the first place... actually it is so that in total people contribute to the worsening of society and themselves, and those they care about. I actually came up with a phrase to remember it by: "Most of the time, most people are wrong about most things..." More accurately actually: "All of the time, all people are wrong about virtually everything." Maybe there's truth somewhere in the middle of that, but it's actually provable.. It's because we do things right now, and in the future we will look back and see that we were wrong and we doing the wrong things... Tomorrow, we'll look back at today and see that we were wrong, and again the next day and the next day... And it's ok, because in fact there's no objectivity, everything is subjective. So we can either let the hurricane of change carry us away as gracefully as possible, or fight at every turn for what we want to be true. Like these traditionalist views, but what we'll see is they chains, holding us back, limiting what we can do, self inflicted limitations in direct accordance to our ancestors child-like reasoning, so unaware of self such that they could not discern their own imaginations! Still today they cannot! We cannot... but we can know it's there, these conclusions - in the absence of greater information! the absence of necessary information! In the year 4900BC, a tribe of moder Uganda was struggling to survive a drought... "It's the bloodied sun! It's boiling us a live!" One council member shouted, as a small crowd shuffled together. "My dearest, how dareth though speaketh of our most honorable God of the Sun, for ye know it falls under hiseth control." Says another. "And so it is that this Sun-God is angered?" A wisemember inquired, and mumblings of speculation spread within the council meeting. "And so it demands payment!? We've not a bloody thing to give!" A concerned member voiced aloud. "I've seen in all my days, for enemies from the North, West, South, have attacked us. And now rising from the East, maybe our greatest yet." An elderly member continues on, "This Sun-God, he threatens us all, to take our lives. What can be done to appease him, as heith so great, the almighty!" After coughing up a lung, the elder continued, "We must give our greatest enemy what he threatens, and in turn, we shall receiveth in abundance." The council begin nodding and mumbling of agreeance ensued. "And so it is settled! All in favor of the plan, tell me you I!" the leader demanded, and after a short vote, the tribe came to an agreement. They decided to sacrifice a human life to the Sun-God in hopes it would relent and that their would be rain... Today, we/some of us have better fitting understanding of our reality, but regardless we all have some glove like nebula, a bubble of all our information... from which we cannot verify beyond some great extent... Our understandings are formed identically to how that tribes was... limited, incomplete, unverifiable information, forming conclusions, solutions, these in our decisions and how we apply them... there's no freewill, there's no purpose, there isn't even the possibility of enlightenment...Most explanations don't even make sense, and most people don't care, don't bother due diligence, maybe not even capable... although it wouldn't matter regardless, blind, deaf, and dumb... existing, until we don't. And yet these morons! Uphold f'ing fairytales still today!

Body dysmorphia is a form of OCD it is obessive compulsive thoughts, that take up your entire day and get in the way of normal daily routines. It is not just not liking yourself it’s a serious illness that can sometimes be debilitating for people. It will always be there but you can learn to manage the symptoms so it doesn’t take control of your whole life. Plastic surgery doesn’t help everyone with BDD no and it also won’t cure it. But it can potentially help you fix a part of yourself that gives you obessive compulsive thoughts over. Everyone likes to say whatever features you have are fine the way they are but for some people it doesn’t matter what others think they just don’t like the feature and want it “fixed” and there’s nothing wrong with that. Your not obligated to like every feature about yourself and if you have the money to change it and want to so what. The only issue is if you constantly keep having plastic surgery to change things because that’s the disorder talking. Plastic surgery will never cure body dysmorphia cuz there is no cure, but for some people it could help if they do not go haywire with it.

What a lot of people don’t talk about in the US when going to Turkey for dental procedures is that usually the clinic is giving the patient a set of crowns, unnecessarily and it is not veneers in the way they perceive it to be via celeb land. It’s actually damaging to the teeth in the long run and will cause issues down the line with sensitivity and infection if it is done at quite a young age. Europe has had several highly publicised documentaries and media coverage on the issue but the US still seems to think it’s an affordable alternative. Always ask the clinic to be clear if they are providing you with veneers, what kind they are and if it’s actually just white crowns on severely shaved teeth.

I never realized how many people hate their faces and especially their noses. It makes me grateful that I have a cute nose. But even if I didn't, I wouldn't have it surgically altered. At the very least though, the result looked pretty good and not unnatural.

@@namkia205I also think we have to get over this cultural norm of having to downplay the very real impact of ones appearance in life! No not everyone is born looking hot! In fact MOST AREN'T and it has consequences! We whld love to believe that it's only the inside that matters but that's just not true. So many studies confirm we are ALL GUILTY of treating people differently based on their looks! Be it the effects of a suit, a uniform, make up, cleanness and overall attractiveness that can only by altered to some extend with simple things such as hygiene / clothes etc. To really change our appearance for the longrun there are only cosmetic procedures. No she was not ugly! But she was also not very attractive either. She was what most people call a "7" meaning somewhat average. So I really don't see why we have to pretend like psychotherapy will just solve all drawbacks from not being very attractive. It aint! Even if we end up in court be it as an offender or a victim - our attractiveness can have a HUGE INPACT on the jury and judge! Making years of jailtime of a difference and this is proven. So I think good for her for getting something done she is now happier with! Most was non surgical even. I think it is great that those procedures become more accessible and safer!

Ugly ?? Where? She should see me. Plain Jane here!! I have felt ugly all of my 59 years. My husband tells me I’m pretty. (I am pretty on the inside, not the outside.) -She was more than beautiful before all the surgery!! If I had looked like her I would have been sooooooo HAPPY!!🌸 She needed nothing done!! Mom used to say-Pretty is as pretty does. -It’s your mind and heart that should be the most attractive !! -Beauty is only skin deep!! 💜- I look just like my Mom. You are beautiful. The definition of beautiful is what God says. He has the first and last word. And when he created you he said beautiful and all God’s creation is good and perfect. The world has created an impossible, ugly definition of beautiful and the only way you can obtain that beauty is in their shops and procedures. Gotta spend money and Thats what they want. Stop lying to yourself that you aren’t pretty. You are.

Its not even veneers, its way worse. Its crowns, and the doctors in turkey shave the teeth down to put those on. In 5-15 years top they will fall off/give you infections, and she will end up spending 100k+ fixing them/pulling her teeth out etc. The regret she will have will be crazy, especially from someone chasing perfection.

I honestly don't know the difference between veneers and crowns but I have heard that there is some maintenance involved and that veneers aren't permanent... Do I have this right? My teeth aren't perfect but I do not have any desire to have people shave them down and cap them with porcelain. I have a hard time just getting X-rays done in my mouth lol.
@kevinwilson7318

@@susanjeffries5108Both crowns and veneers aren’t permanent. Here is the main difference: *Veneers* - only a tiny bit of the front surface of your tooth is shaved down so the veneer can cover it. *Crowns*- A HUGE amount of tooth is shaved into a stump so that the crown covers the entire tooth. Both veneers and crowns typically last for 15-20 years before needing to be replaced. However with crowns you are much more likely to eventually loose your teeth in the long run because of how much tooth structure was removed your real tooth .
