since the lambda for a month is 4, i believe that for a give year it should have been 4 multiply by 12 which is 48.

Since lambda represent the Mean in Poisson distribution and it is not known that average is SAME (uniform) for each month. thats why we can't multiply 4 by 12. (May be in first month average call is 4, while in nect month it may be 7 etc). Thats why. I hope it clear.

@@DrHarishGarg Actually sir I did not understand How will we get answer for a year, when we will use the monthly average data. wouldn't it be incomplete? And in the next question where 10 accidents occur in 50 days, we have simply taken average.

Sir Example 4 me lambda 0.2 niklala h aapne to es ka matlb p toh 1/50 hua tabhi to lambda 0.2 nikla ... Mujhe ye samjh nahi aaya ki p 1/50 kese ho gya .... What is the reason behind this ?
