Andrew Coleman Smith going in for my 3rd. Wish I had this Vid last year before my first, totally went HAM on the Rower, finished first, then struggled in the weight room, finished last there, then had a somewhat rough 5k to finish 5th overall in the class... learning from that, when I did my 2nd in March, I eased up on the rower, was able to power through the weight room without stopping, and ran a decent 5k to finish 2nd and drop my time by 20 minutes! Definitely not burning yourself out is great advice, start strong, but finish stronger!

I wish I was able to partake, but yesterday was my first class back after the worse ankle sprain I’ve ever had. I’ve never been a distance runner, but even at a base of 4.5 I was DYING!!! I’ll be with my Splatanooga family in full support mode though.

I did the last two dri tri's (skipping this one due to a minor back injury) and my biggest piece of advice is to not get caught up in the adrenaline rush of the start and set a PR on the row. I feel you can't 'win' the dri tri on the row but can 'lose' it there as it seems like going 30 seconds faster on the row could lead to several minutes of recovery on the floor portion.

I’m watching these videos with Vinny and it makes me want to move where you are because I feel like you could really trust and relate to him. I hope all OTF coaches feel this way about their participants in classes. He’s so great! Awesome job Andrew getting it done!!

Sorry for the super late reply, but i just wanted to tell both of you that this vid helped me actually sign up for it and definitely helped me get thru it. I think my biggest fear was being able to do this in the 55 min (which i didn't). But i kept in the back of my mind that i can modify and not feel bad about myself. I was the last off the rower by almost 2 mins, but that helped me get thru the 5k. You guys are the best!!! Please keep them coming!

I burnt 900 KJ and got 40 splat points! I don't feel well! It's the afternoon am tired and all over the place. Any advice? I had a Greek lunch with a friend so I can take be hunger??

Doing a Dri-Tri of any length after only 2 weeks is SPECTACULAR!!!!! Make sure you're listening to your body and resting when you need to. It's a journey, so slow and steady really does win the race (as cliche as that sounds)

Survived my first Dri-Tri today! Was hoping to finish in under an hour and ten min, but did it in 57:48!! I think there is something to be said about the adrenaline rush. I usually do the 90-minute class on Saturdays and some how this was both harder physically but easier mentally if that makes sense.
@millmill676 жыл бұрын
Yay, glad to see coach vinny again 😊 still not doing the dri-tri though. 😀 I think it's more a fear of being the slowest person by far and everyone waiting a long time for me to finish.

I was second to last the first time I did it and I felt the same way and then I realized how excited the class was for that last person - it was really encouraging to see the family aspect of OTF come out!

If wanting to lose fat, should someone start on the cardio side or strength side first? I've heard mixed reviews..
@AndrewColemanSmith6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I've heard that weight lifting really burns a lot!! I don't think it matters where you start exactly, as long as you do both sides, it will give you a good, even workout! 💪🏼
@turkishman78696 жыл бұрын
I think cardio first. If you do cardio first you might burn more while doing strength (weight room)

Hi Andrew! My wife and I joined Orange Theory 2 weeks ago after we watched your videos. A little too soon to try a dry try tomorrow, however I will do the next one for sure. We live in North Vancouver and would like to come down and see Seattle. What do you recommend we do for a 1 day visit? Maybe we will see you at the gym ;)
@AndrewColemanSmith6 жыл бұрын
Good for y'all for getting in there and thanks for watching! I would suggest going down to Pike Place Market of course and maybe the Seattle Art Museum that's close by to there. THEN, head over to OTF with me and let's all workout together! Let me know when you're coming and we will work this out.

I am three months in and I am doing a Dri Tri for the first time. I have done a 2000 meter row and 300 bodyweight exercises in separate classes but I have never done them together and then a 5k after that. I might need to power walk. I'm super nervous. I am curious if it is more or less intense than a 90-minute class.
@patrickmoses76096 жыл бұрын
I'd say equal to, or slightly harder than a 90 minute class. Mainly b/c all three segments are significant ENDURANCE challenges on their own, let alone all three together. If you've done a 90 minute though, you can DEFINITELY do it!
@emmahurst20686 жыл бұрын
Pat Moses thanks! That’s super helpful!

A little more intense, but like Vinny said, just pace yourself and listen to your body! You're going to do great - be EXCITED not nervous! 😊

Fomo is real! I hate missing anything OTF! I kept trying to talk myself out of doing it for three weeks by saying all the reasons why I wouldn't be good and then yesterday I asked myself why I was talking myself out of it since OTF is all about the things you CAN do now that you couldn't do before and not just the physical, the mental too. OTF changes you when you just let go of the fear. Good Luck!!!!
