Good stuff. At times, I feel myself overloading the kids with "sets" or "plays." I am trying to always remember not to teach them plays, but teach them HOW to play.

I would design drills around your plays, that way you can teach them skills but the plays broken down at the same time

How many plays do nba coaches actually know off the top of their head or do they run it in a practice then if it works run it in game

An NCAA team will have usually between 50-90 plays and an NBA team will have upwards of over 100 plays that they can run. As far as a coach knowing plays and knowing this many plays its not necessarily individual plays that they know. Its knowing the different screens and cuts in Basketball and using those screens and cuts in your set or motion offense. Then running those cuts and screens for certain players to score can add up to that many plays. Different combinations of those cuts and screens can add up to 100s of plays.... I ran on a team when I was in high school where we had 40 plays but they were all 5 out motion plays with different scoring options.
