Drift Away - Agent 4 animatic (Splatoon)

SO uh Agent 4 amiright?
I've had this idea for a while now but I can't lie, skrbbs agent 4 animatic inspired me to actually make my silly idea.
So basically
Its been a few years, and the Squidbeak splatoon is continuing on missions as always, but Agent 4 has not really found a place to fit in with the others. Marie wants to give them an assignment so that they feel included, and so Agent 4 is assigned to watch over octo canyon. This is mostly a wild goose chase sort of scenario, as Marie is just trying to make Agent 4 feel included, but there really isnt anything Agent 4 is needed for.
Time goes on, Agent 4 keeps up with the task, but slowly starts to realize that they really aren't important to the squidbeak splatoon.
They continue to wait for word from Marie but it feels like Marie has completely forgotten what she had sent agent 4 to do. And to be honest, she kind had.
Finally, Agent 4 gets news from Marie, indirectly. The new squidbeak splatoon had gone on a mission to alterna, and there was new recruits and everything had changed, except for 4, who was still watching over octo canyon. Hurt by this news, Agent 4 turns to something that might give them a needed change.
It's a little cringe, but I hope ya'll enjoy nonetheless, I do adore Agent 4.

The ending is just the most wonderfully brutal thing. Four's smart! She canonically does a butt ton of school stuff and that's why she didn't recognize Marie as one of the squid sisters. Callie was tricked into the hyponoshades even in the re-fights. Four committed an act of oblivion. And it's beautiful

I swear, Agent 4 HAS to appear in Side Order! I mean-! It appearantly takes place in Inkopolis Square! And 3 already got to appear in Octo Expansion AND Return of the Mammalians! Agent 8 is appearantly the player Character for this DLC again! So that leaves us with Agent 4! Literally the ONLY member of the Squidbeak that hasn't appeared in the game yet! People say that Splatoon 3 might be the final game, but I will NOT accept it as such until they have given 4 the treatment they rightfully deserve!

Reasons why Agent 4 definetly MUST appear in the DLC: 💛 Reason one : They're the ONLY member of the Squidbeak still missing!!! Agent 8 has been confirmed as the Player Character for Side Order and the rest of the Squidbeak - even Octavio - were all in "Return of the Mamalians"! The only one still missing in this game is Agent 4! 💛 While we're at the topic of other characters, every recurring Character that has appeared in the trailers until now first debuted in Splatoon 2, but none of them have made any onscreen appearances in Splatoon 3 yet - in other words, until now they've been Splatoon 2 exclusive characters! Agent 8 and Dedf1sh never appeared in Splatoon 3 up until the trailers came, and Off the Hook's only appearance until now was through artwork and music! Pearl and Marina haven't physically appeared yet, but are all but confirmed to do so in the actual DLC! Infact, Pearl seems to be controlling a little flying drone that seems to be "Side Order"'s counterpart of "Return of the Mamalians"' Lil Buddy! Pretty much the only significant Splatoon 2 character that has yet to appear in Splatoon 3 is Agent 4 - except for commander Tartar, but that guy is dead so he doesn't count! 💛 Also, Agent 4 is actually mentioned in the Official Splatoon 3 World Map! Therefore, it's clear Nintendo has not forgotten about 4, but wouldn't it still be weird to mention them here if they were not important to the game in some way? Infact, Agent 4 was the ONLY other Agent appart from New Agent 3 that was mentioned on the map and the ONLY ONE who was mentioned DIRECTLY! For New Agent 3, the map just said "You Live here" but for Agent 4 it says "Agent 4's home" 💛 Also, Lil Judd is implied to be the new boss of Grizzro Industries after you complete "Return of the Mamalians" - a plot point which should probably get resolved in the DLC, considering the implications that cloning is involved! And it's confirmed that Agent 4 did or might even still work at Grizzro industries! 💛 Also, if you didn't recognize the location in the first trailer, the Official DLC's Webpage read : "See what has happened to Inkopolis Square from the Splatoon 2 game, and what would've happened if Order thwarted Chaos to rule the city!" So this confirms, that Side Order indeed takes place in Inkopolis Square - the setting of Splatoon 2! 🖤 Also, side note : It wouldn't be the first time a member of the Squidbeak Splatoon became antagonistic! We saw it in Splatoon 2, with Callie and the Original Agent 3/Cap'n! And considering the repeaded use of the number 3 in this game...... It seems like a golden opportunity (and a good excuse :3) for the devs to pull that trope a third time! They already did it with the "Great Zapfish gets stolen plot"! And considering the rest of the Squidbeak is busy in Alterna, Agent 4 is pretty much the only option available!

The thing is, Agent 4 is actually mentioned in the Official Splatoon 3 World Map - infact, they're the ONLY Agent, appart from the player character, who is mentioned! So it's clear Nintendo has not actually forgotten about them! Here's to hoping they return in Side Order! 🙏

Oohhhh it was killing me already, my stomach ached I knew it was killing me. The intimacy of it all was brutal and devastating. Then a 18 wheeler with blinking lights and sunglasses painted on the windshield came out of somewhere I probably should have seen but the small and intimate tragedy distracted me. I had an idea for side order. Agent 4 can be kinda like sanitized cap’n 3 but with a robotic arm that switches between the hero weapons. Agent quatro wouldn’t be brainwashed but driven insane by Marie neglecting her. Here are some lines i cooked up for an interaction between the side order protagonist and 4; “She’s gonna come back.. she’s gonna come back… she’s gotta come back! Oh… stupid octolings! Getting all up in my *woomy*ing private conversation! You’re gonna be splatted in a second just like Marie wanted!” drops down on battlefield. “c’mon! fight me!” eh i’ll stop there

I’VE GOT SPICIER DEETS!!! After you defeat 4 she bullies you more and goes to get the milk. What you get from fighting her is faded hero replica set. Then if there is a hub or something then you can talk to Quatro. Some of her lines would be “Some stupid machine wanted to brainwash me! But i told him ‘Ey mofo! let’s make a deal, give me that funky tech and i’ll fight for you!” and “I still hate octolings. (i’m going to throw Agent 8 outta the window the next time i see her..)” So 4’s personality is mean but witty.

honestly grizz and 4 would make a cool duo, and (spoiler warning for splatoon 3) Mr grizz in the alterna logs has been lonely for tens of thousands of years, and four is lonely, too, so in that way, yes they clash. It’s also canon that grizz is still alive (in the credits scene after beating alterna he’s floating around earth) so it is within the realm of possibility of four saving & helping him. I think it’d be such an amazing idea, or just villain 4 in general, being the first agent (not counting sanitized 3 or brainwashed 1 (Callie) as they were controlled) to truly be evil on their own will. I just think villain 4 would be an amazing addition to splatoon 3

Decided to write something because of this. Apologies for any poor writing, I wrote this at 12:00 am lol. In the bustling city of Inkopolis the New Squidbeak Splatoon makes their way to Cuttlefish's old cabin. Captain, "Haven't been here since me and Cuttlefish's little 'vacation'." Neo Agent 3, "So is this going to be a trip down memory lane, or are we actually seeing the cabin?" Agent 8, "Should still be there. Marie stationed someone there I think." Marie, "Yeah I did... Agent 4..." Agent 8, "Oh right! Haven't seen her in a while. I wonder how she is." Marie, "She's probably fine..." They enter the grating that leads to Octo Canyon. Unlike what they thought would be there, all they discover is a deserted cabin. The targets used for testing weaponry have been deflated. The TV unplugged. The snow globe that once contained Octavio broken (yet again). The power eggs, and sardinium, missing from the cabin. Even the upgrade bench has been stolen. The gates blocking off access to further areas have been reconstructed. Captain, "So much for the garrison! Look at this place! Its a disgrace!" Agent 8, "Did something happen? There doesn't look to be a struggle. However, wouldn't that mean that Agent 4-" Callie from inside the cabin, "Hey the glasses are missing!" Marie, "Don't tell me she took it." Callie, "Seems like it. Shame, I liked those shades." Captain, "Well we gotta hunt her down then I guess. Of course the bigshot couldn't keep up with pressure I guess. Typical. Bet she didn't even try to contact us." Marie, "She did." Captain, "What?" Marie, "She kept on texting me asking for validation about her job, and I figured she just needed to learn how to do it herself. In hindsight I guess that wasn't the greatest move." Captain, "Where do you suppose she went?" Marie, "Likely down to the bottom of the Canyon. That is if she put on the shades." Captain, "Then that's where we're heading." Agents 3, 8, along with the Captain head from the cabin to various kettles. Meanwhile down in the bottom of the Canyon, Agent 4 is standing in front of various Octolings. Wearing her old hero suit, and wielding her Heroshot. The hypnotic shades rest almost perfectly on her face, changing between various different patterns and lights. Agent 4, "I'm glad that you all have entrusted me to such a task of keeping these outposts operational. It means the world to me... You all in particular have been chosen for your own prowess. Whether that be with a Octoshot, or with a computer, all of you will be apart of the most elite squad in this Canyon. Something to rival The New Squidbeak Splatoon. What better way of defeating them, than with their own playbook?"

Agent 4 didn't have a big role in Side Order (missed opportunity considering that mysterious locker door in the middle of the lockers that doesn't have a use, it could have unlocked a battle similar to Inner Agent 3 but for Agent 4), but at least we know that Nintendo at the very least remembers Agent 4's existence, and they may get a bigger role at some point.

I jokingly said one time that they killed Eight and Four off-screen to explain them having no mentions in Splatoon 3. Now with no traces of Four in Side Order so far it's actually seeming likely.

Yeah late ik but leading up to splatoon 3 Nintendo made a map of the world of splatoon 1,2&3 with Agents 4's house labled on the map and only fours house sure it's entirely possible that the other playable agents just live in Inkopolis/splatlands locations like Flounder heights or the main hub area in 3 but they would probably atleast make a little note of "Agent 8 lives here" or something like that. just seeing four being mentioned by nintendo gives me hope she appears for Side Order it's not a lot but still there. (Also the main reason I said playable agents is because Pearl's mansion she's what agent 5? 6? One of them anyway is labled on the map, although it is a pretty big property so it'd be weird if they didn't label it)

This makes me think of how in Side Order, Agent 4 was brought in as a security system. Marina has 0 personal connection to the Squidbeak Splatoon so I like to think that Cuttlefish recommended 4 to her. I also like to think that the reason why they're not seen in splat3 's story mode is because 4 was already in the simulation working with Marina at the time. That leads into me believing the 4=Parallel Canon theory, and headcanon that 4 was Order's first target for greyscaling.

I literally have the exact same theory, great minds think alike I guess 😂 Smollusk would have probably needed to get past 4 to take control of the Memverse which is why I (agree and) think she was the first to fall victim to Grayscaling. 4 and 8 also seem to be pretty close in the official art (for example, the one Tower Records art that has everyone thinking they're roommates) so 8 may have also had an influence on Marina's choice. Or she was just the only agent available, but it's nicer to think that she was chosen for it. Because it does seem that was based on what little we got.

@@RaychAgent4EVa Exactly! And a sadder part of this theory mean that there's a high chance that 4's greyscaling is either hard to reverse or outright impossible due to long-term exposure :(

@@snowbirdbaby9808 My theory on that is a bit different- 4's character looks and behaves slightly differently than the other members of Parallel Canon during the bossfight (can use Triple Splashdown, hair shows and actually has a yellow tint at the tips, mask isn't connected to her face and she drops it when splatted) so I think she can be saved. The other, "weaker" Inklings may be too far gone however judging by their generic appearance. This is 98% headcanon but I think the difference between 4 and the other PC members is due to Smollusk wanting to keep some element of 4's self within her, because without her self she'd be far less powerful. Smollusk admires her strength (source: Palette), albeit her less orderly qualities, and it would want that to remain. I really think there was supposed to be some finale to those hints I mentioned, but it likely just got scrapped for one reason or another and I'm ticked about it.

@@RaychAgent4EVa ooo that's a great theory! My headcanon for parallel canon is that the other Inklings shown are actually weak AI copies that 4 had access to as a part of their position. Honestly Side Order has inspired me to perhaps make a comic surrounding how I view the agents so these discussions help me smooth my thoughts out.

@@snowbirdbaby9808 I think the copies idea makes the most sense (and also explains the difference between "4" and the rest), and I'm stuck between believing that and my Inklings headcanon. It makes more sense for the identical Parallels with no face, just a metal head, to be copies who don't exist in the real world which is why they and 4 look so different. But if they aren't the Inklings that got pulled into the Memverse through their sea-cucumber phones, then where are they? (Maybe they're those weird creatures wandering around the Square??) All I know is that the middle one is definitely Four since she's so distinct from the others, I guess we'll have to wait for Nintendo to say something to find out what is or isn't true about PC. I'd even take an explanation via manga if I got it, since they just started their Side Order arc. The manga may not be a reliable canon source (more of a "Parallel" Canon, I'm here all night folks) but it is closer than headcanons and would work as a placeholder until Nintendo says something about it in an art book or dev interview. Side note- in reference to your long-term exposure concern, I just realized that if the tips of 4's tentacles are still yellow then she's probably not fully grayscaled yet. Even if Smollusk did intend to fully Grayscale her (irreversibly) I think I remember one of the characters saying it was a slow process so there may be time.

I got an idea for side order: 8 and pearl (drone) find an inkling who responds to the name of "4" or "Agent 4", so they use its help in the plot of side order (i think it is to seek/save Marina? Idk)
