Great video. Would you ever disengage the spool and use the bait clicker when drifting? I’m relatively new and that’s how I’ve been fishing, but not sure if it’s best?

Great video, good information. Do you drift much in the winter or anchor more? Also, any tips on finding really large shad like the size you're cutting up? I fish in a lake and can catch plenty of shad, but never any 10-12 inch ones like you're using.

I do both in winter depends on water temp and what the fish are doing. I use my sonar to find big shad.

Great video. What are your thoughts on drift fishing in a tidal river? I fish the James River here in Va., and I'm not sure how to use this technique. Perhaps using the trolling motor to slow me down?

Yes, nose into the current ahead of your hold and use trolling motor to hold you and slowly move back over the holes with current Bovus13

In your opinion when is the correct time to anchor fish instead of drifting I drift bout 95% of the time. . Here lately not been having much luck with water around 50 should i be anchor fishing ?

Depends a lot on what the fish want and can change by the day. At 50 degrees you should be able to catch fish drifting. Just keep in mind that as water temperatures cool down the fish metabolism does as well so they'll get lethargic and won't be as aggressive chasing baits so speed is everything. Slow it down and see what happens.

Yea i have slowed down. Sumner time 65+ i drift around .5mph and i have slowed down to around .3mph some time .2mph. I caught a lot of fish over 40lb this spring - fall but since November i have only caught 1 over 30lb and maybe 15 fish total on about 10 trips . I have really scratching my head . Tried Fresh skipjack Fresh shad froze shad froze skipjack . Small heads big heads small chunck big chunks . Everything i know with no luck at all . Their is something that im doing wrong just don't know what it is lol Thanks.
