Hey Shad, if you are looking for a new one check out the supapeg ones. Have poles but integrated, I’ve had mine for years and price was fair, best part is it extends to be the full length of the 76 and has walls. 👍🏻👍🏻

I have the Darche 270. (Not the free standing one) 1st time I used it, hail storm. 3rd time I used it, 45kph wind gusts all night. Still look like I’ve never opened it. Can’t rate it high enough. Way more area coverage than 95% of 270’s and the fact you can buy the walls in sections? Just mint!

Great work Shad. 👍 I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to my 4WD sitting under the sun most days. As it has a RTT permanently on, it's too tall to fit in my garage, so it sits on the driveway when not in use. And I too use RacksBrax. I swear by them. I use them for both my 270 Batwing and my ensuite awning. While my 4WD is not a daily driver, I do remove both awnings when I know I won't be going on a trip for a while and/or I won't need neither or both awnings for certain trips. The RacksBrax makes that process so easy.

The fox wing definitely gave you a solid service hey mate. The sun slowly takes its toll on everything doesn’t it. Love the concept of them Brackets. Also love the built in lights on the Drifta awning. That’s mint. “ Thanks Heaps Ryan “. Got a chuckle out of that 😂😂 Then Ryan having a bit of fun at the end. Gold. Suits it too hey 👌👌

You need to adjust that handbrake if you got to use a wheel chock on that driveway Shad !! 🤦🏽🤷🏼🤣🤣 Great idea the Racksbrax for saving the awning from the elements. Do you think it makes the awning sit out a little further from the vehicle. ?
@shaddonaghue
@shaddonaghue 7 ай бұрын
The handbrake works fine, ive just always been taught to chock the wheels when working on a car so its just habit now. Yeah the racksbrax will make the awning sit out 20 mm more

stay with concept of having legs so you can achieve two things. !. security in the wind, it doesn’t matter what these companies say about their free standing awnings they cannot withstand higher winds which we all know are spontaneous. I have seen so many of these types of awning break relatively easy in winds and more often do more damage to racks and vehicles. 2. the adjustability in bad weather by dropping legs slightly to allow better run off of water. Just an observation, that drfifta awning looked quite heavy for you guys to install, enphasis on plural. you did not seem to have any problems with fitting the foxing by yourself. Maybe a new foxing…? you already have other components for it and you know it can last as well as the weight issue. But I’m sure you have already assumed these facts. Enjoy the hunt for a canopy👍
@shaddonaghue
@shaddonaghue 7 ай бұрын
Yeah , unfortunately can’t buy a foxwing anymore, I could possibly get a good second hand one , i thinks its superseeded by the batwing which doesn’t seem as good. Definitely these awnings need to be tied down as you said, always that random gust of wind. Yes these types of awnings are heavy and a bit of a struggle bit probably won’t be going on much and I’ll use my boys not the mrs 😂. In the meantime no rush to get another i think plus i can use the hexa tarp which works well too. Plenty of options

@@shaddonaghue Shad, I just remembered that foswing was sold by rhino rack which was actually a Oztent product. I just went to my book of receipts extra for mine which I bought back in 2008. And upon checking the oztent sight they still have the product, maybe rhino rack come out with their own product and called it bat wing….
