Great Aussie ingenuity... couple things... maybe lifter bars to the trailer corners (more stable lift) & alignment marks for bar connections.. also maybe poly guards for the trailer (lighter, less head collision)

Do you have a vid on the trailer ? Also would it be possible to have trailer wheels fixed permanently ? Great setup.
@DriftaCamping4WD Жыл бұрын
hi mate, there is a vid , scroll thru our vids, should be able to see it. be just after this vid.. you could leave the wheels on I suppose, but depends on the setup.. on this trailer it would interfere with the awning etc.. we not making the trailers anymore, not sure about the mozzie trailers.. : ) L

How you prevent the back of the boat from bouncing off? Why remove the trailer tires? can you just make them flip up ? Would it be better a tilt top for easy mounting the boat? How about a under the boat, a center rail ?

Hi Luke. That's a more convenient way to do it and some clever engineering. Does the DOT need to stay hitched to the car, when loading and unloading to avoid the DOT tipping up ??

This is a great idea and concept. Is there a way of adding more/less to the mechanics of it so that you do not have to push and pull it to get it off the trailer (at the start) etc.. I know a younger fit person might be ok but I can see shoulders being pulled out etc for older individuals.

Great idea. I have a Polycraft tuff tender with a 20 hp Suzuki @ 46 kg , low sides . Would be perfect.I don't want to turn it upside down because of the false floor & front storage (battery etc ). Bit like how I saw Canadians getting their snow mobiles up last year but they are often on HUGE 4x4s where I am only up to the wing mirrors. They must be heavy up that high. Great to set up & still be able to take your boat anywhere you like. You guys are up near Barrington Tops?

You’re right! It definitely looks ungainly up there. The high centre of gravity is another thing I’d be a bit worried about as well. And one thing I’ve learned from towing an off-road van over many thousands of KM’s - the salesman’s theoretical views are not the same once you hit uneven roads, gravel roads, strong cross winds, encounter strong headwinds, or try and overtake road trains and get passed by large trucks / road trains etc travelling in the opposite direction - because that’s when their ‘handling’ theories go totally out the window. Never underestimate the strength of the buffeting wind a fast truck travelling in the opposite direction creates! There’s also a lot of weight further back behind the rear wheels with that motor placed where it is so there’s that risk as well (trailer sway). Also I understand you may not want to go 100kms on the highway but a lot of long distance travellers do want to go 100kms. Going slow is fine if you’re not going far but when you’re doing long hauls, the last thing you want to do is have to drive slowly and “remember” that the thing you’re towing could become unstable if you went fast. So, probably another negative for me. Another issue: Loading gear into the boat when it’s so high up is not going to be practicable for anyone over about 50 (given most guys start to pork up and let themselves go after about 35). No offence but there’s another Aussie made version with the motor stored inside the boat on a trolley that looks definitely better than this. However I am not sure they’re producing it any more so that would be a better design to perhaps mimick. Sure the boat travels upside down but the motor and fishing gear are shown to be stored inside the upturned boat (it’s on KZbin) and as pointed out just before, you can’t really expect all but the young fella’s to be able to access the inside of your boat once it is up there anyway - so it’s not really an argument against the upside down method. I admire your creativity with all your products (as an owner of your drawers in our 4WD plus a few other little goodies purchased over time I am very happy with your products etc) and respect your success in your business but in my honest opinion there are a few major concerns I have with this design and set up so would like to see you come back with something a little more practical, something that anyone including the ladies can CONFIDENTLY handle and then tow. In it’s current design - I’m not a fan. Sorry mate and no offence intended. I am trying to give you honest objective feedback!

a salesman's theoretical views : ) I've towed it mate, and it tows fine.. 100k an hour down the buckets way, narrow winding rough road, past lots semi's , and doesn't move mate.. can hardly even feel it up there.. so ?? : )

The wheels should just flip-up out of the way. Removing and reinstalling those look like the biggest pain. Or a design to leave the wheels and the bars. Maybe a power unload option as well for the retired guy that hasn't been lifting weights all his life.
@slatibaadfast3 жыл бұрын
Watched the video of the boat being loaded and thought, being in my late 60's this would be a good idea. however, unloading it looks like it might present a few issues. Pity there is no way, other than manually to drag the boat back enough for the winch to take over.

Hey guys I love the idea, but you have effectively turned an awesome camper trailer into an overly complicated boat trailer. And your now sleeping in a tent. I understand the concept and the engineering, but personally if your sleeping in a tent make an off road boat trailer, put your camping stuff in the boat. IMO
@sand_shifter4 жыл бұрын
Dan Coker they sleep in swags , so swags in the boat and Luke could turn out a a pretty good canvas boat cover so everything is dry . Then at least tow a bigger tinny . That set up would be better on toy hauler surely.

12cm32 tinny’s don’t normally do 100 : ). But yes we putting a cover over, a canvas one.. it’s not just to stop stuff flying out, but to protect the boat from dust water sun etc. a simple nylon boat cover would not last long, we make stuff to last.. : ) L
