Doi Haley wow, you are Johnnys daughter. Your father was the man along with Clyde Mcphatter who can be classed as Mr Drifter. He kept the Drifters up there amongst the most respected group of vocalists for 3 decades. From the 50s through to the 80s .One of the finest voices I have ever heard . Please give my regards to your mother and family. I don’t know if you are aware but Butch Leake, Clyde Brown ,Joe Blunt and Rick Sheppard are appearing at Mountsorrel UK on 29th and 30th May.

Oh this is wonderful to see this. I saw the Drifters the year before this at the Kings Theatre, Eastbourne and could not believe Ben E King was there. Mr Johnny Moore was THE voice of the Drifters. Love that man. Taken far too early. I get goosebumps just thinking of that concert so this is just fabulous to see. Thank you.

I saw Ben E. King at the Howard Theater in Washington D.C. in the 60's also. He was by himself not the Drifters at that time. I think he was on with the Shirelles. He said he had a cold but would do the best he could. He brought the house down!

Johnny was a great singer. By that time Ben E., sort of fell short. I can remember he was marvelous with his vocals. I guess with age many things change with the human body vocals too.

Ben E. wasn’t even yet 50 here. I know he had heart issues that ultimately led to his passing 30 years after this video. But I noticed in video of the performance at the RnR HoF induction three years later, he does seem to be struggling to hit the high notes. Everyone’s voice ages a little differently.

Totally agree with comments. An amazing voice. Would I suggest if he looked more like Elvis and less like your favourite uncle, he would have been given the full due he deserved? Having said that he was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame fairly early on. One of the greats. I treasure his signed photo.

Never knew that Ben E. King and Johnny Moore shared a tenure in the breakaway UK Drifters. Or am I mistaken and this line up was of the official George Treadwell [Treadwell family] owned official Drifters? Furthermore, can you help me and clarify if the the chap who sings "When My Little Girl Is Smiling" and "Like Sister and Brother", is/was, Bill Fredericks? Since posting this comment first, I heard Johnny Moore in the start of his classic lead vocals on the song "Kissing In The Back Row Of The Movies" he introduces the tall fella as Joe, the Ben E [for Ben E King] and then Clyde. Just wondered what is/was Clyde's surname?
